  1. Hi @Fakum - sounds promising? How did the Windows install go? I 'had a moment' after I wiped my drive and then it bluntly refused to re-install. Got it figured in the end. Also found this on the forum: FPS drop linked to drop of GPU usage where is suggests moving your saved game file onto the same drive if you have it on a slower drive. Few other good tips as well.
  2. Odd. Can you select/enable PBO in your BIOS or via Ryzen Master? What is your native screen resolution?
  3. Sorry - missed that! Are you in full screen, deselect vsync?
  4. Crap! Checked the settings and made sure min and max processor power is at 100%? Have you tried increasing settings in DCS and seeing what happens? What NvCP settings are you using - default? I have just re-installed Windows etc - and my fps is also 'down' on what it was.
  5. Try selecting 'Start' , 'Settings', 'System' and then 'Power and Sleep'. Right hand side 'Additional Power Settings' then select 'High Performance'.
  6. Yeah - always install AV/Norton - never really given it much thought to be honest. Not sure whether activation/deactivation is a thing anymore - certainly not bothered personally and all is well? Got around to setting Advanced Power back to high - stutters gone again - so certainly on my PC it does appear power related. Will try the multiplane thing in due course and see if it makes any difference.
  7. Hi @Fakum. So - unhappy with the things went - resolved myself to do another re-install - so had a play. Set Advanced Power settings onto High - as per previous posts. NVCP all at default. Selected PBO to enabled over auto in BIOS (AMD Setting on an X570 MB) and memory set to AMD DOCP(XMP). No real difference - maybe around an additional 10fps. Installed MSI Afterburner - which allows you to overclock your MSI GPU. Re-installed MSI Dragon Center - and set the user scenario back to Performance. Checked Afterburner, and finally saw a change in that it had overclocked my GPU (without my permission - how rude!), and I also now had an 'Ultimate' selection back in the advanced power settings. Following that wiped the drive (again) - re-installed windows, installed drivers, updated Windows, installed Norton, then installed DCS - separate M2 SSD drive. Changed no settings. So power settings on balanced, NVCP on stock - ran it - in whatever mode it found itself - stutters. Went full window - same. Haven't played around with any settings yet - but basically a fresh install of everything makes no difference. So at least we have a base line in that a very fresh install makes no difference to a balanced system. Memory is still on DOCP. Next step is to play with windows power settings, and bang it back up to high then see what happens. Hopefully reduce the stutter. Regardless of what other posts say, running MFAA and SSAA ingame settings in tandem does appear to make a difference - I have found 2x MF and 2x SS reduces the building shimmer to be un-noticeable. No doubt more to follow...
  8. Just flown a couple of missions - and dare I say it - it is not as good as it was after messing around with MSI DC! Unless of course I am now getting hyper critical! Have another mess around tomorrow. More to follow.
  9. OK - so wiped my drive and re-installed windows. That was fun - as it initially refused to re-install on my boot drive! Anyway - got there in the end. Installed windows, norton, chipset drivers, nvidia drivers and MS Office - nothing else. Then installed DCS, and left everything to stock. Jitters/stutter still there. Set DCS settings to high - jitters. Windows gaming mode to on - jitters. Then visited advanced power options - this time around only had the option of high, ultimate no longer being present - so guessing this is an option that is allowed when MSI Dragon Center is installed - so it obviously unlocks something in the background. Selected High - smooth - just have some odd shimmering on buildings in the distance on a test mission I created. One thing I think was mentioned was @Fakum - if you have major issues you use a backup image of your PC - so if you have any issues and have to restore all you do is re-install them by using the backup? Just a thought.
  10. What in game AA settings are you using? Additionally did you try the affinity mask thing? Reason I ask is what is becoming apparent is some things that work for some don't for others - so could be worth a shot at the least. Plan today is to wipe my drive, re-install Windows and Norton, then plain re-install DCS - so all clean with no interference from other one stop fits all optimisation programs. That should mean all my windows settings are on default, as will DCS be - then see what any stutter is like. If present - which I think it will be - will only play with the windows power settings - as this appeared to fix it for me (though only after running MSI Dragon Center previously) - so this time will tinker with the power settings but without having had MSI DC adjust things in the background.
  11. Was there any difference at all in terms of severity between the different settings? Out of curiosity is your DCS install in the 'do not scan' bucket of any anti-virus/internet security?
  12. Did see that - but it was some of the other posts suggesting that things improved after uninstalling PL that got my notice. Also the fact you have a 'Bitsum High Performance' selectable may indicate it may not be as inactive as you would think.
  13. Does that mean you have Process Lasso installed? Any chance that is interfering someway? Read here that someone was having issues with it installed: Troubles with FPS and stutters: CPU core affinity and Process Lasso - Game Performance Bugs - ED Forums (eagle.ru)
  14. All my devices are USB - the only thing I do get is that my screen won't auto power off regardless of time out settings when left inactive due to the computer believing there is still ongoing activity from my headset. From what I can recall my old setup had no stutter issues - and ran 1.5 and 2.5 fine - albeit with low FPS/lower settings as was 8 years old - though any stuttering may have just been perceived as an accepted low FPS. All my peripherals are the same - just new build base computer and a fresh DCS install onto an M2 SSD. Previous install was onto a 7200RPM Hybrid HD.
  15. Hi @Fakum. All my Nvidia control panel settings are at default. All now I have done is set my power settings to High - easily done, and if no joy can be reset back to whatever they were before - so no small 'dark arts' changes - just gone from balanced to high. As a test I then reset them back to balanced - instant jitters. Reset back to high - smooth. Maybe indicating @silverdevil has a bigger issue rather than just DCS?? My jitters purely in DCS.
  16. Main thing - did @Fakum have any joy?
  17. @silverdevil - maybe try upping them further to ultimate and again see if there are any differences?
  18. @silverdevil - Did you notice any difference? I have gone from 'stock' high settings in game to everything maxed out (with NVCP settings on default) and am still maintaining around 120-140fps with no issues.
  19. For the record I do not have an MSI MB - mine is an Asus. My GPU is MSI. Additionally, I have put all settings on low/minimum - with stock NVidia CP settings - and still 'got the jitters'. Then put NVCP power settings to prefer maximum (or whatever it is) - same. Anyhoo - moving swiftly on. Just reset Windows power settings to 'Balanced' - ran DCS - and yep - got the jitters. So, went into the advanced power profile, selected PCI Express link state power management back to off - ran DCS - Jitters. Went back into the settings, and then selected CPU minimum power as 100% - ran DCS again - still the jitters. (Rebooted in between every selection). Again went back into Windows power settings - selected high performance profile. Ran DCS - all fine - so there is obviously something else going on when Windows Advanced Power is set to High/Ultimate. So @Fakum - if you can go into Windows settings, power and sleep options, additional power settings then select either high or ultimate if you can, then run DCS and see how it goes. What I do know is this works for me, with all settings at max.
  20. OK, this has completely confuzzled me as well! So - bin off MSI DC install for now - as I think I have nailed that the different presets change power settings only. Head to Start, Settings, Power and Sleep, then on the right hand side should be 'Additional Power Settings'. Click on that, then if possible change it to either 'High Performance' or 'Ultimate'. Then run DCS and see how things go. The 'Extreme' MSI DC setting set my power settings to 'Ultimate' , but I am now on High windows power settings with no issues. Not sure whether any of this is linked to either the CPU performance state, or the PCIe Link State Power. Next step for me is to reset everything back to balanced through Windows, re-establish the jitters (that'll be the engineering devil in me wanting to create a fault to fix!) then play with either the CPU power management settings or the Link State - one at a time - and see which one is needed.
  21. Ok - this is now an obsession!!! Checked my Windows power settings - and they were on 'Ultimate Performance'. Under the advanced settings tab this shows both minimum and maximum processor power are on 100%. Having a quick spare half hour - re-installed MSI DC, and reset it back to Balanced Mode. Double checked Nvidia Control Panel on stock settings, and reset just to be certain. Re-checked Windows Power settings - and everything back on 'Balanced', with minimum processor power now showing as 0%. Re-ran DCS - and jitters/stutters immediately apparent. Closed MSI DC down - with the User preset still on Balanced, and un-installed it, followed by RyzenMaster SDK and cFos. Did a reboot into BIOS - still showing both processor and memory at stock speeds. Booted into Windows, left all alone and ran DCS. Jitters/stutters still present - good. Exited DCS, and went back into advanced power settings. Selected 'High Performance' (and not Ultimate) as the active power plan - as this also defaults to both min and max processor power to 100%. Carried out another reboot for good measure - verified the power plan still on High, then ran DCS. No indication of any jitters. I think that the PCI Express link state power management may also hinder things, so also ensure this is set to off, and not set to any power saving modes, as it can try to power down when there is no traffic across the PCIe bus - which - if on - may be why there are constant jitters? Maybe worth checking Windows power settings, and selecting either high or ultimate, and seeing if it has any effect before installing MSI DC?
  22. Yep - whatever changes it has made have definitely remained after un-installing it - just don't know what - which is frustrating. If you do install it though - word of warning as per the above - make sure you get rid of cFos and it is uninstalled when you uninstall MSI DC - as it slowed down my internet connection to the point of it being at standstill.
  23. OK - so that is odd - as I did not add DCS to Dragon Center gaming mode. I just ran it, set the User Scenario to Extreme, exited then ran DCS by clicking on my normal DCS Desktop icon, then uninstalled MSI Dragon and all its various components. I have had a quick look at Afterburner and RyzenMaster - and nothing seems untoward - no major overclocking being indicated that may have occurred in the background, all temperatures normal - so WAS NOT going to reinstall MSI DC. However, what I have noticed is my advanced power settings through windows settings are now at max. Not sure what they were on before - but now am tempted () to re-install MSI DC and reset it to 'Balanced' and have another look at the power settings - to see if this is what is being changed - power management mode in the Nvidia Control Panel still being set at optimal.
  24. Cheers @Fakum. Be interesting to see what if any results you get. It is almost going back in time to the dark ages when more time was spent 'tweaking' than actually playing anything! There are so many different videos, tips, hints, helpful, not so helpful bits of advice on various forums and a lot of out of date info. I 'might' at some point re-install it, then run Afterburner and RyzenMaster and try to log clock speeds/temps - to see if there is any major differences between the various presets - though for now I am hitting around 110 - 120fps with everything cranked up and all the sliders as far right as they can go.
  25. Hi - couldn't agree more but I tend to install them to see if anything has changed and someone has actually made something decent - then uninstall. Always do it in the early days of a build so if it screws anything up can re-format and re-install windows and start again. The 'User Scenario' is the page whereby you can select various pre-sets - the descriptions being 'Extreme Performance' - Provides ultimate performance for overclocking. 'Balanced' - return to system default settings, 'Silent' - Reduce noise by lowering the performance where possible and lastly 'User' - allows you to customize the settings. So a description of what the result may be but not how it achieves it. I did notice it installed RyzenMaster SDK, which has since been uninstalled when I got rid of Dragon Center.
