if the DCS A-10 will have also those effects besides the physics improvements of FC2 , then sure :D i personally going now to SF A-10 to have some fun that the much anticipated FC2 deprived me of :D

additional FC2 evaluation notes : - i think Crimea and every area modeled in LO, FC1 should be merged with FC2 modeled areas into a complete black sea theatre. That probably though isn't maybe possible technically due to engine differences - The F-5E entry had to finally by now changed to F-5A. Turkey the only nation in the map using F-5, never operated F-5E. Even if the 3D model depicts an E its better this way, as keep on assigning F-5E to Turkey gives a hard to miss spot of inaccurate impression to the sim , lets say "marketing" wise. American forces stationed in the region make sense under a multitude of possible scenarios, but bringing aggressors with them and especially equipped with tiger II fits more to an easter egg option :D

i think what we all would like to see is similar to that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lyFDJvuq6k http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Iz5MwPsfyo&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJSk2Xc3Eq4&feature=related 1:5 and 4:03 i would suggest something like - Half the ricochet of what is now - tracers could be left like it is, no prob, or maybe reduced a tad - option to "weaken" a little the MBT armor in gameplay settings - more gun smoke and extending a bit to the front of the plane - smoke, dust, debris, sparkles, small explosions, etc upon rounds impact Notes about the videos - there is some tracing - noticed level gun runs, dont know if the camera was angled that way though - there is some, little bouncing - warthogs get quite close to targets in some occasions i have the impression that the dispersion is wider in FC2 than in any of those videos, unless maybe its only my CH being more jerky than it should despite the dispersion amount, my tests with other targets result in very easy kills, civilian targets for example take couple of rounds only and with fast relaxed aiming , that maybe is indicative that my aiming is adequate ?, as it takes me a whole evening and unlimited ammo to kill 4 T-72s .... ,

Thanks birdDog, thats a good post .. at last some ... tactical awareness lol i think if i have to keep on trying with ED i probably have to switch back to nvidia ......... The settings i came up with so far are close to yours - AA 2x or 4X [box] - AF 8x - AA method SuperSample (definitely) - AI is kind of similar to Nvidia optimizations ("High Quality, Performance", etc presets) disabled only makes fps a little slower without any visual improvements, i think so far "Standard" works the best, will have to experiment a little more to be sure. - Mipmap on Quality - Vsync always on - OpenGL i didnt even bother touch, didnt think it can affect DX games, will check your suggestion Thanks again BirdDog :) .

botched install is where my suspicions go too ..... like those sounds that wouldnt install in LockOn .... maybe missing some texture files, DDS abnormalities, etc i even get error messages about lua lines in blackshark folder , one time some zip wouldnt decomress, some other times other lua lines have some errors .... etc (did we maybe download some beta? lol) ED input would be useful here

no no NOT that detailed damage. i mean if your vehicle isnt exploded instantly and took though damage, to have lets say new damaged textures , thats all. And ofcourse impact effects like in LO,FC, smoke, dust, etc BTW if youd do that breaks throttle back approach in RL wouldnt the Avenger stall you ? Or is it gravity compensating?

Thats indeed how it is with nvidia. Negative clamp allow, High quality preset (AI settings is the similar in ATi. optimizations related) etc I was nvidia for many years till this card. The settings and behavior are different here. I just posted the results of my experiments. The only setting that took care of the shimmering in FC2 from my ATi control panel (i havent tried third party editors like RivaTuner) was changing AA method to SuperSample. Vsync always worked in nvidia with tear-ups / waving. Here it doesnt do anything, like its not being read. Then again, i only have those with FC2 here

thanks gekoiq :) and welcome I noticed from the start that takes some time for vehicles, not just MBT, for example softer IFV etc before they start flame out or explode ... and untill then they look perfectly ok ... (damage textures would had been nice) actually so far they even rarely stop before they do so (am i that unlucky? lol) And thats a nice realism addition, although amongst the imagery we have from A-10s, those of us who cant experience the real thing, the targeted MBTs seem to take serious damage right away. Theres clouds of dust and sparkles and debris and the tank shakes and bounces on its suspensions, sometimes even trackbelts are blown off or parts like the tower react as if hit by a hellfire , in general behave as if taking impact of something of massive weight/mass ... So it would had been nice if the new damage behavior could mix with the older (LO,FC) model or in general randomize various "models" and offer a lot of instant pound / effect ... no matter API or HE being able to modeled as it is now, firing avenger on MBTs or in general ground targets is TOO dry and FUNLESS ... and fun is a major part in the reason of such games existing and in the mix of relation-with-reality / exageration needed :) I fire at a dive of around 30-60 degrees and i tried most of the time, unrealistically very close strafings to check the effectiveness .... not the results you report :( wonder what must i be doing wrong lol

1. i am not sure what we see bouncing in the videos is actually rounds themselves. what are the chances that they are fired-up debris? In a rounds stream some rounds penetrate, some bounce as a whole and some bounce to pieces ? 2. I am not sure also if those tracers in the videos are tracer rounds or normal rounds that do exhibit tracing under lower light conditions (dawn, dusk, etc) How it goes ? 3. For sure what is missing from the FC2 avenger is some impact effects, bouncing or not, there should had been dust and debris launching around. 4. About the effectivenes of the Avenger in FC2, is it normal that i empty a whole drum on a single T-72 from breathing distance and i have to pass again with a maverick to kill it ? ......... i mean it doesnt even get a scratch (?) 5. Probably the feel would be more close to what we are used to see if the tracers effects get somewhat reduced or limited to their atmospherics visuals only and the bouncing was maybe also reduced and dust/debris/damage etc impact effects were added ....

1. isnt the numbpad dot the key to enable view lock on a target? how do we unlock the view after? and what exactly is it targeting on? ( most often is choosing some random spots on the ground here) 2. is A-10 gunfire behaving in reality as in FC2? no impact effects (i thought there is lot of dust and debris where the rounds hit) and the rounds just bounce off (??) as if they are made of steel and the ground is made of steel too ... The effect of emptying a whole drum accurately on a T-72 from close distance was to have to blow it with a second maverick pass . .

notice on the Eagle screens, how abnormaly some textures stay on very high resolution while surrounding areas are on very low resolution (when i guess both should had been something in-between and not stand out from eachother). On the Eagle cockpit screen: tons of strange vertical banding dancing outwards left and right and inwards or from left to right and vice versa, thickening and shortening, continuously .... Oh, another usual sight, missing pit. And (clouds shadow?) banding overhead in all its glory ------------------------------------------------------------------ ATi owners: Are any of these apparent to your FC2 too ? ------------------------------------------------------------------ .

Thanks Distiler for the support ( i hope not the acrobat distiler LOL ) LOL . Gosh i just hate those graphics glitches, and i have no clue whats causing them .... Thats not how a 2010 sim product from a team like ED and on a hardware like mine should look. I dont think i am getting particularly grumpy, LockOn has been a fetisch since the first advertising screenshots included in my Flanker 2 box ... This looks though like a beta and the situation reminds me of those days with GF3 and the first Lockon beta, and frustration about the FPS , and then upgrade after upgrade in the hopes of at some point manage to have a totally smooth experience of LockOn with maxed graphics etc (complete opposite experience of Wings Of Prey ..... no matter what settings , either from game or ATi Contro panel, framerates are crazy smooth, graphics eye orgasmic) So after wasting another evening experimenting some observations : 1. Shimmering is mostly controlled by the AA method, SuperSample seems to be the only effective way to go, even with an AA settings as low as 2x ['Box']. 2. The vertical dancing banding on the horizon (mountains) is probably related to the clouds shadows. No clouds, no banding .... this would had been nice to be fixed by now, 2010 after a BS and a FC2 release 3. changing water quality, shadows level (except Full), texture resolution, doesnt seem to have any change at all visually, textures, shadows, water, appear the same on all ocassions. choosing Active planer i thought it would disable clouds casting shadows. Normal water i thought would remove clouds reflecting on water. 4. Tearing up / waving, doesn't seem to be affected by anything no matter the VSync settings in the ATi panel 5. Low res textures mixed with high res textures havent found a way to control yet. Surelly none of the ATi panel settings changed anything about this. Not even experimenting with mipmap changed that. I have uninstalled completely 10.2 Cats i had a day before and installed 10.3 .

first time i install lock on in this system. any other game works ok. Ati control panel settings for shimmering and v sync are accordingly tweaked, no effect . its even funny i force vsync yet i get huge full screen tearups and waving ... 10.2 cats

the shadows (?) on the antonov screen over the hills are also flickering and moving strangely And what is this complication with Controls settings ? cant figure nada there ..... do i have to know the code of every axes and button of my CH set ??? .... no axes buttons detection ? how are assigned ??

it looks as either or both changes in game settings and in ATI Control Panel are not affecting anything

I'd personally want the usual loadable / controllable training missions together with the videos. And the 3D encyclopedia and 3D loadout / skin selection (?) back ...
