  1. always happened with LO/FC for me, especially when start a mission. Full physical throttle but no thrust, have to "wake" the thing up by throttling down and up once
  2. those effects were there in FC1 with no FPS impact. (there just wasnt ricochet and the new physics, which are ofcourse nice to have now) and also there are every other effect here too, like shockwaves, or cluster bombs etc etc of more or less equal processing poower demands and they dont cause more fps hit :( .....
  3. ofcourse theres bouncing / ricochet of either rounds themselves or shrapnel but its NOT ONLY bouncing / ricochet / sparkles. There are for sure and by any point of view lot of other things too happening when those rounds hit ground targets, that some of us believe are missing now. And SOME targets blowing right then under a considerable stream of rounds and not few minutes later would be nice. (not all targets and all the time)

    strange thing is, i initially without knowing i added the tweaked lines to the "high" scene section , i didn't notice there were three such sections, while though i am always on Medium in FC2 options panel, and still the tweaks were applied in game ...... can confirm that ?

  8. Who wants the FC1 Avenger Gunfire back ? I really miss the looks, behavior and effects of the FC1 Avenger gunfire. The tracing v.effect of FC1 over FC2, The gunsmoke of FC1 over FC2, The effectiveness of FC1 over FC2, The impact v.effects over the sole bizar bouncing of FC. I would only keep some of the new bouncing mixed with with FC1 effects.

  10. The terrain in LO have always been going like "tick tick tick tick" even slightly in the best case. As if something (ram? cpu?) couldnt catch up with the pace that stuff / terrain had to be rendered. even when at low. It has never been completely smooth for me. like other sims. eg my previous rig was a Q6600 @3Ghz, 2G DDR 1066, 8800GTS 512.

If you have low resolution ground textures mixing with high resolution ones at the same distance, (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=864773&postcount=9) you can try the "back" entry setting in graphics.cfg under the "OldLandNoise" section , changing to values from 20000 - 30000 2. If you have annoying shimmering and an ATI, the only way to reduce it is increase AA method to SuperSample 3. If you have tear-ups / waving, and v-sync in your VGA drivers control panel doesnt do anything, you can try reduce the "maxFPS" in the graphics.cfg to a number lower than your monitor refresh rate. With my Radeon 5850 and 60 Hz screen, vsync doesnt do anything. MaxFPS slightly less or equal to 60 doesnt reduce the tearing / waving either. The only values that reduce (but not totally eliminate) tearing-up / waving are values under 50 which reduce though also the overall smoothness feel of motion (i just happen to be of those people who can feel differentlty a 80-100 fps motion than 40-50 fps. To me is , how can i describe it, like the visual impression 100+ Hz tv sets give you comparing to conventional sets) It also appears to me that the tear-up / waving that myself is experiencing at least, is related to what i call "micro-stutter" a typical feature of the LO series .... When this stutter increases, becomes tearing-up /waving like a lack of V-sync. update: Another thing that you can try which has worked for me, eliminating completely the tearing-up / waving (thus make v-sync working) is to try disable the full screen option in the FC2 graphics settings. Οr you can try the D3DOverider that comes bundled with RivaTuner ( or as stand-alone : http://www.filestube.com/b19df7f1192f285103e9,g/D3DOverrider.html ). This enables vsync with full screen and also triple buffering with DX which they claim improves FPS with vsync on. 4. if you happen to have significant FPS drop when near clouds you can try alter the CloudThreshold entry at the end of the graphics.cfg. Increasing that from the default 0.03, seems to straight things up for some people, some suggest a value of 1, some 2. I havent had this issue myself with my 5850. 5. If you have moving vertical bandings on mountains / hills on the horizon, they say its related to cloud shadows, and the only way so far to fix it is to use a tekateka's mod that unfortunately disables i think also the cloud shadows cast on terrain .   12. Stuttering has been a Lockon issue for me since the frist beta of LockOn ever released. I changed several systems since those days and various forms of stuttering has always been here with LO/FC1/FC2. In the best case, stutter would be "micro-stutter" apparent when you look at close distance flying-by scenery. Scenery at longer distances wont look stuttered. There are things that haven't changed since the first release of LockOn (when was it ? 2002?) like: the jaged full shadows, way of reproducing overcast, majority of 3D models, and in one way or the other or degree, stuttering. LO/FC was supposed to be an abandoned story, and ED with DCS series in their minds and hands we maybe should consider ourselves lucky we got this new LO upgrade. I dont know though what are the ED plans for LO from now on ... Personally although i bought this, for me its not like something wow or that would make me erase from the map FC1. I was ok with FC1 as it was comparing to FC2. Actually i miss anything related to gunfire especially of the Avenger comparing to FC2, from gunsmoke effects, trace effects, etc to effectiveness modeling. Too bad there wasnt a demo to try before i buy it .....

    i guess mayb they apply to the scene setting you have choosen from the game graphics panel, it sould probably say something like "current=medium" or "current=high" a line before the groups of "low", "medium", "high"
  14. but i dont have that cloud shadow thing on FC1/LO .... not now nor before :( have you checked the screens describing the artifact i refer to ? ( i am not talking about the jags of flying on top of overcast) FPS cap = "max FPS =" ?

    I relate ........ Btw, Modman used to control everything graphics wise, from what i recall.... if one decided to experiment with the settings to find the best combination for their system and personal preference i would be better to dedicate that time through that modman tool. Or try various profiles made by others to speed up things . Dont know if theres a modman release that does the same for FC2 ....

    This tweak done nothing for me regarding stuttering (ground moving pass you micro stuttering, inherited i guess from LO/FC1) (FPS are just fine as it is out of the box) nor bad tearing-up/waving (vsync has no effect on it) BUT it did fix an issue i have with low resolution textures mixed up with high resolution ones (as if some cdds / mipmap issue) : http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=864773&postcount=9 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=866232&postcount=19 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=866158&postcount=14 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=866176&postcount=15 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=51719&page=3 I have no clue which part of this tweak fixes that though .... NOW, one thing i dont like about this tweak is the way the objects pop up only just when you pass by over them. The way the visibility range of objects was with the stock settings was great. What entries do i have to restore to stock to get ground objects back to the stock visibility range settings? more noticeably, buildings, bridges, i guess "structures" ? Thanks :)

Ok, in my case some entry from this tweak mentioned some posts ago here ( http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=865286&postcount=86 ) has restored (or at least it looks like, maybe the haze covers the thing up lol) I am now investigating what exactly entry from that tweak could be the one that fixed that

  20. On my end I REALLY wish the cloud shadows cast on ground would be like in FC1 ........ Everything about it its just fine there. Its fun, feels realistic enough (even if its not, i dont care too much if its not, since it looks way more like the footage we all have seen) and its effective enough unlike the FC2. Still theres variation in vulnerability due to difference in armor but it doesn't take me a whole evening to punch through 4 T-72s with the Avenger I hope there would be some way possible to GET BACK the FC1 Gunfire ...............................................

Whats the purpose really of these coding gymnastics? LOL
  24. i just revisited after long time the FC1. The way the Gunfire is set there is just fine for my taste ... The firing smoke, the trace effects, the impact effects, all look ok and makes straffing fun . I definitely prefer the FC1 gunfire all the way. I hope there is a way to get that back ....
