  1. May be a little explanation how to get going from the carrier:

When using the SuperCarrier it is pretty straight forward until you get to the launch part. When you "salut" you'll need to activate "waterinjection". Otherwise the cat will not launch.

As on all take-offs: Flaps stage 2 is a good idea 😉

    When on the Forrestal:
    1. roll to cat

    2. lower launch-bar (launch-bar toggle)

    3. connect to cat with the FC3 command for it (ship takeoff position or similiar)

    4. wait till the cat is ready

    5. flaps stage 2

    6. engage waterinjection

    7. off you go 😉

Waterinjection will only last some time, not very long. Right now, as a placeholder, we have afterburner-textures. If we stumble across something more fitting, we'll make a change.

    For landing on carriers:

The hook will automatically retract aprox 2/10th of a second after the wheel made contact with the carrier deck. That was necessary to overcome a "not carrier friendly" FC3-coding-detail. That might lead to a "trapped" cable. So it is a good idea that once you are safely on the ship to press the "Hook" command once again to get free of the cable. And as always, do not brake when caught the cable 😉

  2. Hi guys.

Finally we have released the VSN F-9F(5) EFM/FC3 mod.

    You can get it here:

We would recommend to watch JP's trailer first, since it get's you in the mood to fly something a bit more "old fashioned" again. You can watch it here:

If something is not working correctly, feel free to post it here or ping me directly.

Have fun and enjoy flying the Panther 🙂

    Cheers.

    PeeJott.

I watched all the videos about this wonderful mod, but I can’t figure out how to lock on to a target when using missiles like the AGM-45 Shrike?

AGM-45 shrike needs a few things:
    1. be sure the missile selector rotational is in the "OFF" position.

    2. master-Arm (conv.ON) in the upper position.

    3. Weapon-Selector to "single"

    4. station-selector to inboard-wing

you should here a humming tone, a bit like a sidewinder. Once that tone changes to a higher pitched growl, the seeker of the Shrike "smells" a Radar-source.

Of course, if you have a lot of radar-sources in the same directions, there is no way to tell which one the shrike targets...

And, I almost forgot, you need to fly into the direction of the source. Keep the source you want to target right infront (12oClock on the RWR). The shrikes look slightly down, so try some slight nose up/down movements to achieve a lock.

Easiest way to practice: Set a mission with an EWR, put a waypoint on the EWR, set the NAV-Rotational on the front-nav-console to NAV-COMP. Dial the Nr. of the waypoint viy the HSI Course-Set-Rotary. The Heading-Bug will show you the direction in which you need to fly, the range-window (bottom left of HSI) will show you the range to said wp. If everything is right, you will have the heading bug at 12oClock and the radar source in the RWR at 12oClock and you can start experimenting how you have to point the nose of the plane to achieve a lock.

anyone knows if they fixed falling gears into the deck?🤔

Yes and no. The updated version 2.8.4.200 is a bit better on the SC than the previous version. But if you are really heavy and go very slow, you will still fall through the cracks of those blast-walls. Cure is simple, don't be that heavy or go a bit quicker 🙂

Problem should not be around on the Stennis or Forrestal Not-SC Carriers...

  5. Guys, if you really want to enjoy the F-4B/C mod, I can recommend the following multi-player servers:

    1. StreakEagles Vietnam (VSN) Servers. Great missions, really cool made and perfect for the timeframe.

    2. BurningSkies Foothold/CommandCentre/Pretense Servers. Lots of mods availabel (F-4B, F-4C, F-104C/G/S/S_AG and a lot more). No introduction into Foothold or Pretense needed. Awesome missions even made better by Chazz with some cool add-on functions. BUT you will need to pick your fights, or you will go up against a Su-33...hhhmmm...challenging 😉

    3. Hooligan's ColdWar Server. Nice, fitting cold-war scenario to get some good AtoG or AtoA missions done. Definitely deserves a visit.

    4. TaktLwG66 Pretense ColdWar: Yes, a ColdWar mission by Mr.Foothold himself, with added F-4B/C and F-104G and all that on stable (for everybody who does not like to see that nasty little DCS-crash window all to often)

On none of the above servers will you get punished for making mistakes while learning the F-4 or F-104. But they are really a lot of fun and you can fly the Phantom in AtoG, SEAD, CAP or CAS missions...you like it, you can have it.

    Cheers and enjoy the phantom...

P.S.: Little "micro" update on the way regarding the radar-set...just very tiny but may be a bit more immersive than the one we have right now...

Heard a funny story on a podcast about British F-4s....pilot said the plane flew terribly without stability augmentation so when the GIB wanted to fly the plane, they would turn the STAB AUG off in front, then hand over the stick, the GIB would fight the plane, then finally give it back to the front seater who would promptly turn the STAB AUG back on, thereby showing the GIB what a great pilot he was...

so I was wondering, is there a STAB AUG implementation in this bird?

Stab-Aug for Pitch and Yaw are included :-)

  7. The rest of the cockpit-changes:

And here are the new RADAR-Fucntions:

And here you'll find the update 2.8.4.200:

    https://filehorst.de/folder.php?key=duuqITUb

The update is standalone. Please delete the previous version and install this one.
You can install the liveries onto this mod (mod-folder), or unzip them and insert them into a folder named VSN_F4B or VSN_F4C in your saved games/dcs/liveries folder.

I hit the watch Icon, but no luck, I don't get it, very frustrating!! I should note that I'm currently running the stable version of DCS.

    Thanks for your help.

Did you check your dcs.log (saved games/dcs/logs/dcs.log) for errors regarding the F-4B? Is it in "saved games/dcs/mods/aircraft/VSN_F4" ?

Yeah I think it's the Century Series team. I left a post in their Discord.

Hi. Well, yes, we at VSN are planning to "upgrade" our F-105D/G mod with an EFM (about 75% done) and a clickable 3d-cockpit (still a way ahead of us) and "want" to get it to standalone-status as well (even further away). But that will not put the 105 "off limits" for a 3rd-party-dev-team. Of course it might make it "not so interesting" since a good free mod could cut into sales. If Grinnelli says the 105 is off-limits, there is a good chance somebody "blocked" it for further developement... Or it is deemed not interesting enough or not makeable due to lack of info...

  10. The Thud is an awesome plane. Just looses to the 104 for me.

We at VSN are working on an EFM-Version with custom clickable cockpit but it will need some time since we are just a bunch of guys doing that stuff in ouf free time.

If a 3rd-Party Dev would taje on that project, that would be awesome, but I guess from the money-side of things the thud would not sell that good (I still think a lot better than those jet-trainers) but may be not good enough to invest in the developement...

    Anyway, our Plan is Update F-4B/C, Standalone F-104 V0.9, F105d+g EFM + 3dcockpit Version, may-be already standalone...

  12. Hi guys. Just seen this post. The Mirage-III mod-package still needs a good amount of work. Exterior is pretty far, as you can see, but we are running into a bit of "too many mods on our plate" right now. Many are Kind of 60-75% ready but still need some major work here and there. Mostly it is efm, systems or cockpit-work that is missing. We are trying to slowly get everything on track, and I think a few good ones will come this year 😉 If we get the mirage-III pack release-ready? We will see 😉

  13. @Perseus

You are right. There is a problem with the collision-modell. Sadly we seem not be able to fix it. We might have another shot, but who knows if it works out. For the time beeing, use the Forrestal (no such problems) or if you use the supercarrier, go a bit too quick over those JBDs and don't be too heavy 😉 A load-out 4xAim7+4x3xHydras should work out. If you take heavy bombs, you might loose a front-gear...

    The new cockpit is a…

    …BLAST!!!

I fly VR only and this cockpit is finally a worthy fit for this great Mod.
Kudos to PeeJott and his crew.
The icing on the cake would be a F-104 specific radar (like in the F-4 Mod) to get rid of the F-15 stuff.

We are working on the standalone version with a Radar more like the 104...but it will not be at all easy to operate 😉

  15. Hi guys. If you are interested, there is going to be a "VSN flyable aircraft mods"-Discord Server where all the new toys, updates, patches and what not will be posted. So if you like Discord, may be you fancy hopping over to that one as well?
