  1. Hey, I hope they prove me wrong, I'll be the first to admit I don't know what I'm talking about.
  2. You're all just blowing smoke up our a$$. Scenery is scenery. It's the same game, same explosions, same flight model, same sounds, same clouds, same vehicles, just a bit of a different mesh on the ground. I'd love to see an upgrade to the terrain ENGINE all together. Fix the water, how it looks lower than the terrain, fix the clipping problems when you fly close to it, get some more autogen buildings, different kinds of trees, etc. THAT's what I'd love to see for an add-on that you have to pay for. (I know this is the part where I get burned for being a picky flight simmer, but in all seriousness I'm gunna buy the expansion either way )
  3. I wonder if X-Plane can do something similar since (in theory) it can simulate the atmosphere and how objects pass through it.
  4. Wow, I wonder how hard it would be to model that flight model accurately.. :pilotfly:
  5. Hey TulsA, Do you by any chance have a pic of your setup with the hp touchscreen and helios? I was thinking about getting the cougar MFDs but I'm not building a physical pit (as neat as it would be, I don't have the time or money) Thanks. I agree with the Track IR too, if I could get a decent size monitor the track IR is more than adequate to pan around and feel immersed.
  6. There is nothing I would love more than an F-15E myself, but when it comes down to it, ANY fighter that ED makes with DCS style dedication is going to be amazing. I can't wait to see how they are going to redesign supersonic flight, sounds, afterburners, etc. etc. etc. And with this new terrain, (which I think will make it possible for other terrain in the future to be added on) This is one of the most exciting things to hit my PC in YEARS. Only thing I feel is lacking (and Nevada terrain can change this) is the ground detail. I'm curious to see how well X-Plane 10's attempt will be with their new terrain system.
  7. I don't even care to speculate what the new DCS module will be, but what I'd love to find out is WHEN they'll raise the curtain. At what point are they going to let us know which aircraft it's going to be?? Not even a release date, but to know just so I can stop checking the forums EVERY DAY at work
  8. Gosh, so defensive Tyger. I think they're just trying to point out what the 5 mil option is actually used for. I for one, didn't really understand how it worked from your video (since it wasn't really used), but with the other explanations, I get it. This sums up for me why 5 mil is pretty awesome. v I have watched a few of your videos though Tyger and I do enjoy them. Keep it up ;)
  9. 19 April 2011 "CICU will no longer reset when AC Generators are turned on." Nice, that's always bugged me. What about the MFDs/INS/EGI?? Do they still reset when going from APU Generators to the Engine AC Generators? (haven't done a full start-up in a while.)
  10. What would be considered flying "well?" Because from what I've seen that is primarily not the case. Even ground units. When I put their skill to excellent and I nuke one of their AA units they don't even try to take cover or drive somewhere safer. I've seen the one tank try and run in WAGS video but other than that I haven't seen it. Maybe I'm missing something in the editor that I have to script? Either way, there would have to be a HUGE improvement in AI for the multi-cockpit to work out.
  11. I'm not sure, when the current AI basically climbs at a vertical angle to try and reach your altitude while stalling about 27 times in the process and falling behind about 50 miles I'm not too sure it could handle flying the F-15E while you tinker with radar/weapons.
  12. It's so odd to see people with all these issues. The 1.1.0.7 patch works flawlessly for me. The only issue I had was the explosion freeze (2-3 second freeze on first explosion) and that seems to be it. Everyone with the frame rate problems, I feel as though it's most likely user error or user settings. Drivers, De-frag ( if you have mechanical HD,) Clean install; these things solve 99% of the problems usually. I don't even have an i7 and my game runs very smooth.
  13. :music_whistling: Seriously hreich I think another whole page for all your references would have been a nice edition to your handy little guide. Referencing a Term Paper 1 Title your reference page Works Cited and center it in the middle of the page. Do not underline or place the title in quotation marks. Make sure your reference page is a separate page at the end of your term paper, but numbered consecutively after the last page of your paper. 2 Enter citations in alphabetical order. Double-space all separate citations, but do not put spaces between lines of the same entry. Indent the second line and all subsequent lines of all citations. For in-text citations, put the author's last name and the page number in parentheses, separated by a comma. 3 Use italics or underlining for film, book and magazine titles. Use quotation marks for the titles of shorter works, such as poems, short stories and magazine or newspaper articles. Oh btw I'd like to reference ehow.com for this partial list. :megalol:
  14. Higher the ISO the more light the sensor will pick up, so in daylight conditions it's best to use a lower ISO setting to have the best picture quality. My camera sucks but at about 800 to 1600 ISO I start to get this 'grainy' feel to my pics. If I had to take a guess I'd say he was at 100 or 200 ISO, (if it was even a DSLR)
  15. "Boeing [NYSE: BA] received the first APG-82(V)1 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar test set for the U.S. Air Force F-15E Radar Modernization Program (RMP) from Raytheon in St. Louis on June 10. The radar test set, which has successfully completed Acceptance Test Procedures, will undergo further tests at Boeing's Electronic Systems Integration Lab in St. Louis before being integrated into an F-15E. The APG-82(V)1 RMP replaces the APG-70 radar with an AESA, resulting in improved radar reliability, maintainability and performance, as well as reduced support costs. When integrated into the F-15E weapons system, the AESA radar will improve detection and tracking of enemy targets." Sounds like a new ED contract possibility to me... anyone else?
  16. You also don't just pop into the cockpit after a briefing in real life either do you? I mean you have to draw the line somewhere between a game and real life. I don't think it would be a big deal to jump between seats, and if that was an issue, it could go on a mission to mission basis. I'm not sure exactly who does what to be honest. Can the weapons/radar pilot actually fly the airplane if he wanted? EDIT: if he/SHE* wanted? ;)
  17. Yes they are, once you go to the photo section on their facebook account, you have to click on 'See all: Photos' on the top right of that screen. The F-18 pics are under the "Military" album. If you haven't clicked see all, you will just see 6 albums, there are 9 though. EDIT- Don't go to their new update page either, it's the first page. If you only see 1 photo album you're in the wrong spot. EDIT - It's this one 'http://www.facebook.com/eagle.dynamics'
  18. First all the pics on facebook and now this... hmmmm. I'm starting to lean myself.
  19. You can, yes. When you trim it takes into account your cyclic position and rudder position. This anyway, is true for the game with it being a joystick and all, in the real BS I'm not sure, can you trim rudder?
  20. Something that helped me a lot was to use Ctrl + Enter (I think that was it) It shows you your rudder and joystick position AND how much you've trimmed it. So when you're in a hover, it should always roughly be trimmed (unless there is high winds) in the same position, once you start to learn the correct positions for ie. Forward flight, Hover, Strafe, Turn, etc. It really becomes quite easy.
  21. Because they said it's going to be a F-xx plane. That's probably why everyone thinks that.
  22. I was going through the same problem you are having. I mean, I didn't want to spend $150 + to upgrade a new CPU on a crappy 775 board, but I did want to play A-10C. My alternative was to buy a cooler (That will work with socket 1155) that I could use now, and then for my new 2500K when I upgrade. As you can see I'm running at 3.2+ Ghz and who cares if I burn this CPU out? It's pretty damn old and by the time it does die I'll be ready to upgrade anyway. So, for $100 bucks (that I'll save later for my new CPU) I have a pretty damn fast CPU AND I get to play A-10C now. ;) If you DO want to buy a cooler let me know and I'll walk you through OC'ing it up.
  23. I have a Q6600. Before I OC'ed it the game ran fine. You'll just have to lower settings. I do have a 5770 though which helped me a lot. I would say get A-10C. If you plan on getting the game after you upgrade why not now? Then you can see for yourself how it runs.
  24. I'd like to throw in my 2 cents here. @isoul: You have to take in to consideration the type of software you're using and the company that made it. For example, if I were to buy Black-Ops and there was some major bugs that weren't fixed for months, I would be complaining right and left that these things are not being addressed in a timely matter. I would be complaining because I KNOW they have the revenue and resources to do it, and the only reason they aren't doing it is to move on to their next title to make anther few million. In ED's case, they have a very small costumer base, as with ALL hard-core flight sims. It's not a matter of them ingnoring all the Black-Shark costomers out there, it's a matter of them having limited resources/revenue to have a devoted team working on JUST black-shark or JUST A-10C. I think of it like this, without ED, I would be forced to play these mediocre (at best) simulations. I mean, look all the other simulation software out there that you have to mod and patch 100 times just to get to work and it still doesn't even hold a candle to DCS series. I for one am extremely happy to buy and play ED's games. I have FC2, Black-Shark, and A-10C, and you can be sure I'll be buying their next fighter sim. For $50 I've had a lot more use out of a game than I've had with ANY other title (Besides WoW but I paid monthly for that.) So a very playable sim with a few bugs still? Big deal. -End rant.
