  1. Nate you are correct. I guess there was a minimum range that I was within. Unfortunately, you can only see the maximum range in the editor, and when in game, you see neither maximum or minimum ranges. Only for air defense it seems.
  2. The MLRS M270 (Rocket artillery) still doesn't seem to be firing even after 10- 15 minutes. Anyone else play with Artillery yet? Also, I run out of ammo with a SAM Avenger, but when I give control back over to the computer AI, it's able to shoot again ;) And I'm not gunna do a vid until I get a better understanding of this module. It seems to be pretty fun addition to DCS world but I have a feeling more people will be playing in F10 view or within an airplane.
  3. It's the Avenger M1097. I know I can see the range once I'm locked on, I just don't know each SAMs effective range. I didn't know if there was a range indicator like on that of the Maverick or something. Thanks for the quick reply about the artillery also Wags. Having fun playing with all this ;)
  4. Hey everyone, I just wanted to get a thread going where we can share what we've seen, learned in Combined Arms. I know there are a lot of new features so I'm sure there will be lots of new questions too. So far I've only done a test mission with a few units, It's no Supreme Commander in terms of control capabilities but it is certainly a great start to an epic simulation. Without labels, I was wondering also in First person mode how you know when your particular weapon is in range(SAM). There is no range bar or anything like that, is it just something you have to memorize? I've played with some rocket artillery also, set a target area, hit start fire, and the unit just kind of sits there. I'm wondering if you have to have a scout set up ahead of him to actually "see" enemy targets, all stuff I'll learn as I go along I'm sure. What are everyone else's initial thoughts?
  5. I tried just deleting my saved games folder and running the game but that didn't work. So I had to uninstall DCS: World, delete saved games folder, then re-install it. I happened to use a different directory than the original install but I'm not sure if that part is required or not. Either way, game works now.
  6. I have the same problem. I'm on a laptop currently, no SSD, no raid. Going to try to delete saved games and try again. Will post with results.
  7. Having log-in problems with Chrome also. I'm logged in certain pages, but when I go to Cart it logs me out, and I can't log in.
  8. I think everyone realizes this already considering it's a "proof of concept" and the OP would like to see it implemented in game. I for one would love Ambient Occlusion properly included in the sim. I wonder how hard it is engine side to implement, maybe someone can look into that code wise.
  9. Yeah Ambient Occlusion really would add another layer of awesomeness to this game. Shadows for me really help immerse me in a game. I mean the cockpit shadows alone helped make this game so much better.
  10. You mean the upgrade version of BS2? And why even bother asking that question, if you read the forums at all you'd realize that they will not give out dates of releases. :P
  11. Same here, if FC3 doesn't offer any kind of AFM for another plane, i won't be getting it. I will have SU-25T, A-10C, BS2, and DCS: Fighter Next in DCS:World. Anything with an SFM wont be making the cut. Depending on what people say about Beczl's MiG, (some kind of AFM and better textures) I might add that to the list as well.
  12. That model seems to be working well for them, let's hope ED notices. :detective_2:
  13. Like Nate said, I can kind of understand why you wouldn't want to include your work for free, but I think in the end it would hurt you more than help you. I mean people really pay for the module because they want to FLY your plane. It's free advertising if a lot of servers have open spots for a certain plane really. The more you see it in servers I'm sure the more you'll want to spend the money to fly the thing. I hope DCS:World is updated via each module that comes out. If it were automatic that would be the best way I'm sure. Does anyone know how Rise of Flight does it? They have modules you can fly multiplayer with right?
  14. I'm surprised you don't max everything out with that card. I'm sure it could handle it. Or have you gotten used to 60+ fps?
  15. Hey all, Just wanted to let you all know an SSD on new egg is now $0.71/GB! A 240GB Corsair Force Series 3 is only $169 after MIR. Amazing deal, cheapest I've seen to be honest with you. That is all. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233268&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL062612&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL062612-_-EMC-062612-Index-_-SSD-_-20233268-L0A
  16. Loved the video, but was curious, do the .50 cal rounds actually leave markings on the ground after you shoot in-game? I'm trying to recall if even A-10C GAU-8 does that...
  17. Now, OCZ isn't known for their impeccable stability but, I have had 2 OCZ drives. The first (Vertex 2 128g) did end up dying 2 years after I bought it, but they sent me a brand new Agility 3 128g for free. Anyway, Agility 3 90gb for $70. Not a terrible investment. That's Win7 and one game. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227757
  18. I remember having an issue a while ago regarding PAC. Something that lots of people fail to mention when aiming the the gun is this: MAKE SURE YOUR AIRBRAKES ARE RETRACTED!! As long as they're on, PAC does not work, which would cause the nose to pull up like you're saying and possibly give you an autopilot warning. I tend lower my airspeed BEFORE the dive, then just put my throttle to idle during the dive. You'll build up speed quickly without being able to use your airbrakes but that's a good thing I've realized, you have a lot of velocity to escape after the attack run.
  19. Your HD might need to be defragged. Also Anti-virus software should exclude DCS folder or just disable it while you're playing like cichlidfan said. My suggestion would be to just get an SSD. They are dropping in price now and you can pick up a 128g for about $100 - $120. I just added another 240g Scandisk SSD for $179. A-10C loads in less than 30 seconds for me, if not less.
  20. Referring to Nevada? I thought that was in-house now. (Sorry I hi-jacked this thread - I'll shut up now)
  21. Yup! 3rd party scenery anyone? :music_whistling:
  22. Out of curiosity, would you happen to know if DCS:World will be upgraded with the CA noise texture? Or you will only see it in the world if you get CA.
  23. I have a 2GB HD 7850, I hope it can handle it! I'm trying it out when I go home today.
  24. Pictures look great, have you tried this Hassata? Do you like em?
  25. I have the 2500k, and I can't really get it more than 4.0Ghz, I have an ASRock mobo too that might be making it more difficult. The voltage settings are weird and I'm getting BSOD if I go more than 4.0. Oh well, It's fast enough anyway :) And yeah I saw a great deal on a Crucial M4 256GB SSD the other day for $179! Running windows on an SSD is awesome, if you love the loading time improvement of DCS, just wait ;) Everything is so responsive, it's by far the best upgrade I've ever made. SSDs ftw.
