i just want to point out, that the clip i linked is real footage.. not from DCS:W -
What's the ETA on the gun sound?
Tracer2k replied to wildone_106's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
just for comparison in the real one the sound is a bit more "crispy" inside the cockpit, but im pretty happy how it sounds inside. the outside sound could use some work.. or a mod if the current sound is final. -
im not a game developer, and i dont know how it is implemented to the engine, but im pretty familiar with some 3d modeling programs and the particle systems in them. and i can say that the actual process of creating the explosion is pretty straight forward, but putting it to the actual sim might be a bigger job.. but then again it might not.. i can't say for sure

inside it actually sounds pretty close to the real thing.. what i have heard from the gun cams -
and in some sims, (IL2 series for example) the magic "A" button did the whole mission for you, strafing, bombing and everything :D
-
Well at least against infantry in BS the HE rounds did a good job.. didn't need a direct hit
-
you have to move the throttle up to idle from the keyboard. RAlt + HOME for left engine and RCtrl + HOME for right engine and same goes for shutting down but you use END instead of HOME

about the stick mapping.. if you dont have hotas like me, map all of the hat commands (TMS, Coolie and DMS) to LCtrl + Hat, LShift + Hat, LAlt + Hat (this idea i got from Nate, if i remember correct) also i have mapped china hat to numpad and the trim to arrow keys.. oh and CMS hat to to RCtrl+Numpad keys.. of course it is totally up to you, but these got me pretty well started with the systems. also PAC is mapped to one of the thumb buttons.

I wouldn't be too concerned about it. It is a beta. And like you said, if it's a directx, or a gfx card feature, then ED has nothing to do with it and nvidia will release a driver for it in time.

dont want to steal the post or anything, but what i would like to see is more realistic explosions for rockets, bombs and missiles.. they dont even need to be highly detailed or anything, but the current ones just dont look like explosions at all :P the smoke/dust coming out right after the explosion has way too big turbulence, which makes them unrealistic. this is something i have disliked way back from Lock-on times.

I've seen plenty 30mm HE rounds hit some static targets and ground. They really are like hand grenades on impact. Lots of shrapnel and debris flying at high velocity. One round could easily kill or at least seriously injure someone from a distance of 3-5m.
-
Before anything, id like to see them ramp up the effectiveness of the gun. At the moment you have to hit directly to infantry to get a kill and same goes with vehicles. 30mm HE round is like a grenade when it hits the ground in reality, so trucks, infantry and any other non armored target should take damage quite a bit. The area of effect is too small at the moment.. but its a beta, so i dont want to complain too much :)

Go to the front page and login there. You navigate through the buttons that appear after you login

I dont think it is ready to ship. :music_whistling: Still alot of features are not implemented, but it is not nearly as undone as i was afraid :)

I would say that the feeling of flying wont get much better unless you actually are physically sitting in the jet and flying. I'm completely overwhelmed from the complexity of the sim and the realistic sounds. The sound of the engines really sound like they are powerful. The APU sounds the same as in BS imo. by the way, does anyone else have the attitude indicator in the hud slightly offset to the right? (might be to the left, cant really remember) is this supposed to be? or do i have something wrong with my rudder calibration. :P
-
thanks man.. the only problem atleast for me seems to be that the EAC switch wont work.. even when i switch view so that i can see the actual switch.. nothing happens.. how did you work around this? or does it work for you?

Im amazed from the amount of people complaining about the price. I mean, how cheap did you expect it to be? $60 is very reasonable price if you ask me. There are games full of bugs that cost more. the amount of proper flight sims is very small and im more than happy to support the market. Hell, i'd even pay $70 and be happy about it downloading now via torrent 200kb/s eta 10 hours :( bed time for me.. i just have no idea how can i concentrate at work tomorrow knowing what is waiting me at home :)

for some reason i cant get through.. when i fill the form with name, address etc and press next.. nothing happens.. gah! :(

i had a strange click come out of my HD in BS few weeks before it got worse and started on some other games, like arma 2 then my HD started having these "seizures" where it started clicking and froze the whole computer for the whole time the clicking sound came out. they took from 10 to 60 seconds.. then i ordered a new HD :P you should try to strain (or something) your HD and try out if the clicking starts
-
thanks for the fast answer! that sounds fairly simple.. but im sure its still complicated enough for me to spend weeks in training :P
-
How do you actually deliver a JDAM? do you use a CCRP or is it enough to lock the target with a pod?
-
i was thinking more something like this of course that would be way too heavy to a game engine, but something similar just to make it clear, that isn't mine :)
-
I'm just wondering if it's possible to make a mod which makes them more realistic? i'm currently studying 3d modeling in university and i am fairly familiar with the particle systems in 3DS max. question is, how are they made and implemented in to the game engine? is it possible to mod them with particle systems? and what softwares would i need to mod and add them to the engine?

Project 10 - DCS: A-10C Warthog Promo!
Tracer2k replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Stunning.. just left me speechless i just didn't want that video to end :( Excellent work GA only critique would be about the sim is the explosions.. the sim is so beautiful in every aspect, but the explosions are like from year 1998, they look nothing like real ones. watching things go boom is boring if it's not pretty and awesome :D i know it's a WIP and all.. but somehow i doubt ED will change those -
now all we need is a virtual smack in the back of the head if we do something wrong lol really good voiceover
