  1. In the later missions of the A-10 campaign (FC2) I'm having trouble taking out the SA-19. It launches at me from way beyond AGM65 range, and the missile seems to travel at lightspeed; I have less than half a second to live after I hear the launch warning, so dumping chaff is pointless. ECM is worthless (not just against SA-19s, but against any AI enemy in the entire game)--I don't understand why it even exists. I tried flying below 50ft to stay under its missiles, only to get shot down by its stupidly accurate laser cannon. On a few occasions I managed to lock and launch an AGM65, only to have it plow into the ground. So what's the best way to silence the SAMs? AI SEAD is epic fail, apparently, and so is ECM.
  2. I really haven't bothered programming my x52. The only "programming" I did was through the in-game settings. I would get much better mileage out of FC2 if AI SEAD would do it's job and my Su-25 wouldn't get shot down by SAMs....which are impossible to see due to the Su-25's horrid visibility. I may just have to edit the missions to my liking, which has been taking up 80% of my "play time" recently. I've spent less time actually playing this game than I have just trying to get it to work right.
  3. It seems a bit clumsy to me that only two aircraft in the entire game are so drastically different from the other 5.
  4. Ok....so I'm just now being told that only the Su-25 uses "AFM".....I thought AFM applied to all ground-pounders...no one has bothered to tell me what the bloody hell AFM stands for. And why was this "feature" considering immortality not mentioned in the documentation that came with the game?
  5. What part of "I got immortality to work in the A-10" do you not understand? Obviously immortality works in that AFM model.
  6. Ok, this is really starting to piss me off. I got immortality to work in the A-10 and F-15 missions, but it refuses to work in the Su-25 missions. In game options, I set immortality on, and checked "use the settings for all missions". I opened the Su-25 missions in the ME and under mission options set immortality to "enforce". I also set it to "value". I am still getting shot down. Seriously, is it that hard to code immortality correctly, ED?
  7. I honestly never use trim when landing....only for level flight. In the case of the Su-25 I have to hold the ctrl+; button for 2 seconds straight to trim the nose down after takeoff.
  8. Stealth isn't going to surprise an enemy who doesn't use radar.
  9. I have the IRIS F-15 package. It looks nice, but flying it doesn't feel right....it will go supersonic on 80% power.....the IRIS A-10 my have similar unrealistic characteristics.
  10. I usually rely on the airbrakes to keep me at the right speed...then again I'm not used to metric so I generally have a hard time relating to how fast 280 km/h is :P I noticed the Russian jets need a massive amount of downward trim.....although I really like the Su-25's model (how it banks to one side from weight distribution after releasing ordinance).
  11. I remember the first one--I couldn't play it because every time a crow cawed my speakers would go into a fit of static and I would have to reboot to get them to shutup.
  12. I always thought the F-22 was strange and twisted logic :P Who needs stealth to fight insurgents on the streets and in caves? I still remember I was a just a kid when the F22 program started and it's just now recently going into service. Seems like a waste of money to me.
  13. I thought all the flight models where funky until I was told that they've been replicated as close to the real thing as possible. I was hoping the Russian jets were as easy to fly as the F15 and A10. I can't get my landing speed right in the MiG29...stupid airbrakes won't deploy.
  14. I'm honestly not sure--I just took a quick browse through the Japanese lyrics. It's a fairly recent song so it may not be translated yet.
  15. I thought the nosecone of the F2 was thicker than that.....the back seat area looks a bit more cramped than it should be.
  16. I love the bass in this song....and it's making fun of Japanese corporate workers  BTW, I want to kill Lady Gaga.
  17. I didn't know the JASDF had an F-16D. The R2-D2 doesn't surprise me. ha
  18. Speaking of the Su-33 and carriers.....why don't the blast plates on the Kuz-whatever retract?
  19. I replaced the joystick profile with the same profile I use for the other planes and it works fine now--except on carrier launch the thing goes nearly vertical and stalls.
  20. How will an axis issue result in such slow response? It seems more like an issue with sensitivity, which can't really be controlled from the in-game settings.
  21. My controls are just fine--I flew the Su-25, MiG-29, and A-10 in the same sitting just to make sure. I flew the Su-33 in one of the training missions. No payload, only fuel. I had to move my stick to it's near limit just to perform a 2G turn. To perform a similar turn in any other FC2 aircraft I would need to move my stick a measly 2cm.
  22. I've been familiarizing myself a little with the Russian jets now that I've flown so many A-10 and F-15 missions, but when I tried the fly the Su-33 the controls were extremely sluggish. The F-15, MiG-29, A-10, and Su-25 are all very responsive; I barely even need to move the stick at all. But when I tried the Su-33, I had to yank the stick just to perform a basic turn that, if were tried in an F15, would result in a high-G turn (and probably structural failure). Is the Su-33 supposed to fly like a freight train or is something messed up with my controls?

    FSX Discussion

And therein lies another problem--it's either settle for a console's crappy games, or waste your time studying how a computer works to be able to fly a sim. I don't have time for that bollocks.

    FSX Discussion

It seems to me that the realm of computer gaming is becoming an elitist society. With so many games like FSX, ARMA, etc. that need tweaking just to get it to play (and of course it won't play at all on slower systems), if you aren't smart enough to do all that tweaking, then you're considered unworthy of enjoying the game.
