I don't know about englands soaring, but I assume it's like german; ie shabby at best (one month a year). Those guys have to visit Africa or America to do long soars. Anyhow, if there is soaring in england cost will be much MUCH less when you solo unless there is some weird queen tax or such. (LOL) My previous club is probably an exception, but cost was following; monthly club membership (~60$), yearly soaring membership (~200ish IIRC), plus towing cost (1500agl for about 15$). No instructor fees. No time in glider fees. If club is running low on cost, they may request extra money, but it's still less than others. Anyhow, more you fly, less the cost. So if I go for a 5 hour solo ride (assuming I'm only guy signed up for that tail), that's a LOT cheaper than 100$+ a hour in Cessna. Find what kind of soaring there is to be had; aka thermals. No thermals (ridge soaring etc), is a deal breaker IMHO. Find costs to solo. Find total cost and do some math.

Problem is, it depends on thermals....and UK do not get much as far as I know.

I'm going to do cuba8s over field followed by closed to a final. Easy peazy. Hopefully, beta will be released in a month. Otherwise I'll have to wait for my return from vacation in Afgan....

I guess that's a good feature for new pilots. I'll skip it though. Good habits needs to be build from a start IMHO.

Gliders sure are fun. They give a very different perspective of flight. Especially engine out performance...

Not sure what you mean. Can you skip splitter? ie VGA/HDMI cable directly into that card? Also, are you recording to a different hard drive?

Interesting. I wonder if they make card that accepts HDMI and record sound at the same time. Ranger79, can you plug cable directly into card without going through splitter?

Please post pictures if able with entire setup. Is there another computer that's recording?

Excellent video. It gave me few laughs. But after playing sam simulator, dive towards ground only worked on early versions of SA-2. In later version it was possible to keep missile from doing it.

Why not practice overhead approach? It's simpler...much simpler and used in real life....

Odd. I would think they would be very alike. That manual is much shorter too... Once I find motivation, I'll work on it again.

Regarding steps on page N-2, it's a copy from the manual. So belts first. It would make sense to adjust first, but... Spelling is also from the manual; gages
