  1. But am I right in saying that those bigger aircraft only let you have flights of 1 pilot, and to get 3 of them you would have to have 3 flights of 1 pilot, rather than 1 flight of 3 pilots. Can't say I recall seeing NEODARK's problem in v1.02
  2. Mark, its aim as I understand it is so that someone can be part of on-line action and act as a Fighter Controller and use (eg) Teamspeak to control the aircraft on his team. Remember that an AI AWACS (when you are flying offline) won't give you anything other than details of the nearest enemy target (which may be some non threatening transport or Helo) whereas a human using this software package can replicate the real world interaction you would get with friendly radar. You might think that would be boring and everyone would rather be flying, but some folks like the idea of operating this way. I was surprised to find out recently that there are sh*tloads of folks who act as Virtual Air Traffic Controllers with a similar package for folks flying MSFS. Check out this link.... http://vatsim.net Last time I looked on that site, there were about 35 controllers handling 250 aircraft
  3. Both Rep's and posted Thank you's from me. I often put links to particular people's work in Forum posts when I help out n00bs etc if there is something I think will be of use to them. But Neodark does have a point. Sometimes feedback is lacking to the authors of Missions, Campaigns, Mods, Tweaks, Skins, etc. As long as comments are made in a polite manner, most authors will want to hear what the Community think of their work, ideas for improvements that the author might not have thought about, etc. I speak from a little experience, I haven't done much of note other than my Crimea and Caucasus Tours last year (rework of Shepski's Tour). Put a lot of effort into finding photos and background info on the 'Net of the real-life versions of the interesting sites in Lockon. No idea if folks thought it was any use or not. The tours have been downloaded about 4,300 times (all sites) and I have had virtually no feedback at all - maybe a dozen people in total.
  4. Pilotasso - good merge/edit tool? Try this one (there is a 30 day free trial). I used it at a place I worked a couple of years ago, pretty good tool. I talked to the guys I used to work with this week and they reminded me about it. http://www.araxis.com/merge/index.html
  5. Mark Riley - you asked about a good merge/edit tool. Try this one (there is a 30 day free trial). I used it at a place I worked a couple of years ago, pretty good tool...... http://www.araxis.com/merge/index.html
  6. brevity-codes.txt Brevity code text document link above....
  7. A Mode 3/A response would not tell you whether an aircraft is civilian or military, it merely gives you the 4 digit (0000-7777 Octal) code allocated to that aircraft by Air Traffic Control authorities. The Mode 3/A code is changeable by the pilot using the control panel in the cockpit - as he flies from one ATC sector to another, he may need to change his code as requested by ATC.
  8. Why do we care? Because this particular Admiral is part of the Lockon world, one of the Crimean War defenders of Sevastopol.
  9. IguanaKing is doubtless the best man to answer these question as this is his area of expertise, but I'll give you my thoughts too. If the Stinger operator has the belt pack IFF interrogator then Yes. Occasionally these are not supplied/needed eg. the Afghan's fighting the Soviets were not supplied with it as a) might fall into Soviet hands, b) not needed as all aircraft over the battlefield were Soviet and hence were hostile. I have not heard of any RWR that operate on the SSR/IFF waveband. They all seem to use the PSR frequencies to classify the type of threat eg SPO-15 Beryoza shows airborne, SAM,AWACS etc. Some SSR/IFF control panels have a light to show when you are responding to an interrogation but that could equally be from a powerful long range radar many miles away or a closeby low power source. The curious thing about that article is that it states the Stinger IFF will interrogate in Mode 4 (that makes sense) and if no correct mode 4 response is received, then would interrogate on Mode 3. I dont really understand that - do they program the Stinger IFF to mark certain Mode 3 responses as being friendly? I have never heard of that before, surely you would use Mode 2 in preference to Mode 3 since Mode 2 is a military only mode whereas Mode 3 is identical to the civilian Mode A. Also my understanding is that in any serious conflict a pilot would disable his aircraft from responding to Mode 3/A and Mode C (and likely Mode 1 and 2) to avoid giving away his position to the enemy interrogations. Only Mode 4 has any form of encryption and even that is very primitive (1950's era).
  10. Ezor, spotted a couple of things in the Eng language file, so made some corrections. Attached the file in case you want it. Had to rename it to .txt to make the attach function work..... EN.ini.txt
  11. Spotted this movie in the seldom visited UBI Movie forum and thought it deserved a wider audince.... http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/829104012/m/8791019054
  12. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=16104 Check this recent thread, it has some useful information about units based in Black Sea region (and good links to useful sites for more info) that may be what you are looking for. I appreciate you might feel you got a rough ride in that thread on the UBI forum, but it is not really accurate to refer to the UBI forum as Lockon US since UBI are actually a French Company with only 1 of their 12 studios in the US, check this link for details of their CEO (French), HQ (France) and stock market listing (Paris).... http://www.ubisoftgroup.com/index.php?p=65&art_id=&PHPSESSID=483b7cde00b66acebb11d29c312ea853
  13. Cut it out RuGG, we're STILL waiting for the Summer weather to arrive over here in the UK. Us Brits run screaming indoors looking for sunscreen when it goes anything over 68 degrees - LOL
  14. Birdy - I never thought about take off in the reverse direction! Shame on me  for a poor job and only doing 50% of the investigation needed - LOL
  15. Su-33 is the only player aircraft that can use the Kuznetsov. Add the Kuz first, then add an Su-33 nearby, add a few waypoints for your route, then go back to your 1st waypoint and change it to takeoff, then the waypoint will "snap" to the Kuz automatically (provided the Kuz is nearer than any land airbase). Ditto with you last waypont if you want to land back on the Kuz......
  16. SuperKungFu has an interesting point about those lucky folks who can speak both Russian and English acting as an interface between the two sides of the Forums. However I have always wondered about such folks helping out with campaigns and missions. I often see posts (more on UBI, SimHQ etc than here) asking for (example) more MiG29 campaigns or vanilla Su25 missions, etc. I assume there must be a whole bunch of missions and campaigns in the Russian speaking lockon community websites that non-Russian speakers will never see. I've made the effort in the past to try out missions from Check-Six in French, JaBoG32 in German and AlasRojas in Spanish and can figure out what briefing is telling me to do, but Russian would be impossible.....
  17. Sounds familiar, I think I dated her a few years ago. Took her to the South of France on vacation, worst trip ever. We split up soon after and the crazy b1tch took my dining room curtains when she moved out. What is that about? Guessing this isn't the sort of backlash Fudd was expecting, but I just had to vent - LOL
  18. I must be a bit out of touch, never realised there was such a high profile example of the US buying UK stuff. Naturally its the Marines again who have a habit of buying the right stuff for the job and not caring too much about the "Made In xxx" label. Over 10 years ago now that I worked on some of the software for the GPS box on the EH101. If memory serves, I was messing around with the 1553 and ARINC429 interfaces.... Nice to know a piece of my Software might just be helping George Dubya to know where he is - LOL
  19. Sounds like the sort of thing someone like TekaTeka would have already done if it was possible. I'd like lighthouses brighter not forgetting the red warning lights on towers.....
  20. You are right, McP. Whenever the subject of movies comes up on the Forums, I try to clue folks into the wealth of talent in the French Lockon Community - Dobberman, Tigrou, etc.....
  21. A bit harsh there Fudd, for 30 yrs the best/only VTOL aircraft in the world. A sensible buy for the US Marines who understood that a Navy carrier captain wants to be way out at sea sinking enemy ships, the nearest Air Force jets might be 2,000 miles away, but helo in a couple hundred feet of PSP, a radio and a few fuel blivets - Hey Presto, you have a Marine Harrier airbase. When the Sh1t hits the fan, the only folks you can rely on are your own folks...
  22. We haven't anymore as far as I am aware. A friend of mine was part of the close-down team for Bruggen, I'm sure she said that Gutersloh, Wildenrath, Laarbruch had already gone, vaguely remember her saying something about Bruggen being handed over to the Army for a while.... Certainly raf.mod.uk shows only Ascension, Falklands, Akrotiri as overseas bases. As for the spookiness of US bases in the UK, I always found them a bit of a laugh. I can kinda understand the USAF concept of trying to make some 18yr old on his first overseas assignment feel as comfortable as possible by giving him a home from home, and let him visit Englands equivalent of "Deliverance" country (Norwich) once he's acclimatised..... Many happy memories of sunny days watching jets with a burger, a beer at Woodbridge, Mildenhall, Lakenheath, etc. Favorite memory is probably having a go on an RAF Regt Rapier optical tracker. They were letting the unwashed masses play with it and try to track the flying display aircraft. I queue up and get a go and the only thing in the air is some maniac hurling a Pitts Special around the sky, almost broke the ruddy thing tracking him.......
  23. nscode, you are a lucky, lucky &^?$£# living so close to that festival! D a m n that festival has a serious dance arena lineup and less than 70euro for all 4 days ! Derrick May, Jeff Mills (two of Detroits finest) plus Dave Clark - all Techno legends. Steve Lawler, Nick Warren, Hernan Cattaneo all on the same bill - Dance heaven. Time for me to get back on the decks again myself.....
