question for a very old video
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to beterhans's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Yes, it is made by Tigrou. He has made some terrific movies - as have others from the French Lockon Community. Can't confirm the soundtrack identity (not quite my cup of tea), my mosh pit days are long behind me..... -
VTB Screenies from Show Sortie 09/15/2006
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to LawnDart's topic in Screenshots and Videos
They've used that crowd line to give atmosphere in their movies as well, check out the Season 05 trailer - still one of my favourite Lockon movies, great flying, great editing, sweet soundtrack (a nice change from heavy rock). -
Question about Lomac's engine capabilities
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Maggi's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
He meant (Air) National Guard, not Coast Guard...... -

Any Sites to Host Videos??
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to firesoldier845's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Well you really should consider Lockonskins as they already have your "Come and get it" movie (with over 2000 downloads). Obviously I'm biased (as I help moderate the Forums over there) but Lockonfiles have a small but sweet movie section too. But SuperKungFu is right to mention JaboG32 as they have a great collection of movies. -
I dont think this is possible. If you are bored waiting for AI to taxi to runway to join you, the times vary from 2mins to 10 mins, choose a different airbase to start from, so they are nearer to the runway. Here is a link to some information about the approximate times for AI to taxi from parking to the runway that may be useful. It also indicates those bases where the AI starting positions are relatively near to your aircraft (on most airbases the AI start miles away on the other side of the airbase). http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=10922

Number of aircraft in a "flight"

Have seen this question asked several times before on various forums and no-one has jumped in with an answer, so almost certainly this is hard-coded and not changeable in a parameter file. -

Good job TekaTeka, site added to my Lockon Favorites...... -
Cosmonaut - good find on the video, but that radio station are gonna catch some angry phone calls from motorists. The traffic helo is only supposed to report the traffic snarl-ups, not try to solve them with firepower........

Sure I read somewhere that they were problems with the motors on the AIM-54 due to the missiles age. If so, then a more extensive (and expensive) rebuild may be required rather than a simple warhead replacement / guidance update. Warhead size - big enough for some of the tasks you listed, maybe too small for some of the others? Many military and telecomms systems are protected to a greater or lesser extent against EMP pulse damage. All in all, I would think such a concept is a non-starter. Teddy Roosevelt is quoted as saying "Speak softly and carry a big stick". With the loss of the AIM-54, the US has lost one of its bigger sticks and the beautiful F-14 that carried it. But then again its raision-d'etre ie. the hordes of Badgers, Bears and Backfires threatening shipping in the Atlantic have vanished too....

What are the best missions/campaigns?
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Tomahawk674's topic in User Created Missions General
Rupert1978 - CombatAce should be on your list of Lockon sites that are worth the effort of registering with. It has a lot of useful stuff. Other "must-have" Lockon sites would be (IMHO) Lockonfiles, http://www.lockonfiles.com Lockonskins, http://www.lockonskins.co.uk CheckSix, http://www.checksix-fr.com Ironhand http://flankertraining.com/ironhand/index.html Jabog32, http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=news&lang=en Olivier's Lomac checklists http://users.skynet.be/bs999158/LomacDownload.htm -
HELP-Using the In Game Render\Movie Maker
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to firesoldier845's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Can't help with your Movie making question, I'm afraid as I've never done a Movie myself. But I'll just say that "Come and Get It" is still in my top ten favorite Lockon movies. Most movies use a nice sunny day, so good to see the use of some foul weather - in fact typically British weather. Good editing, good soundtrack - can't say I had really heard much by those Biscuit chaps before (I'm quite old). Loved the way the Su-34 canopy then crew ejection fitted in with the music - accident or deliberate editing? Look forward to seeing your next Movie offering..... -
Russian Ship to Surface Weapons/Ranges
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
JEFX -For Ground units, my written Notes from 2 years ago seem to agree with your post. I have some ranges in nm and some in km but converting the figures in my head seem to match yours. I also found some firing rates... Smerch - 12 rounds in 40 secs Grad - 40 rounds in 20 sec Gvozdika - 6 rounds per min Akatsia - 4 rounds per min Msta - 8 rounds per min Bereg - 10 rounds per min Nona - 8 rounds per min -
Russian Ship to Surface Weapons/Ranges
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Colt40Five's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I have some notes from a couple of years ago, when I was bored and checked out the naval gun ranges. Ticonderoga - 15km Perry - 15km Moscow - 20km Neustrashimy - 21.5km Rezky - 21.5km Molniya - 15km Albatros - 6km (seems short - you might want to double check this!) You may not realise it, but if you set up targets close enough then the ships that have 20 or 30mm AA guns will engage surface targets with these weapons, didn't note down the range but seem to recall it was 2 or 3 km. -
Glowing_Amraams movies are the best
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to markriley's topic in Screenshots and Videos
Heh Heh, I've done the same thing to several friends of mine - I usually show them G_A's Superior Fighters and ask them to figure out which scenes are real aircraft, which are the Sim, which they are not sure. They all reckon 50% of it is real life! Some still refuse to believe that certain shots are not..... -
what method to align on a convoy? "Help"
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to vassel's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
When you first find the convoy, take your time to look around and check out the terrain, there are no extra prizes for completing a mission quickly. Also try to estimate the speed of the convoy - fast or slow? Are there bends in the road? You don't want to attack just as the convoy turns a corner and half your bombs miss. Is the terrain flat or hilly? You dont want to lose sight of the vehicles behind a bump in the terrain if you attack at low level. As ZoomBoy said - attack from a good distance away, so you have time to make those last delicate adjustments to your attack run. -
Missile slider and 'realism', what do you think?
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to JEFX's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Good point. I can remember a campaign that I D/L'ed from the Community (I think it was called A-10 Spec Ops?), it had some failures set plus some bad weather. Never seen any others that use failures. -
Many folks have their movies over at jabog32, they have a superb selection. http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=news&lang=en

That's an easy question as "Kent" is just across the River Thames from Essex where I live now. Also Kent is where most V-1 flying bombs (the forerunner of cruise missiles) ended up.

Shooting Down Cruise Missiles.
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to DPS's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Its flight was controlled by a simple gyro system to keep it straight and level and the duration (range) controlled by a timer controlling the cutting of the elevator controls to force a steep dive. This usually caused the engine to cut out due to fuel starvation. Full info in the link below, an interesting read....... http://www.answers.com/topic/v-1-flying-bomb -
Shooting Down Cruise Missiles.
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to DPS's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Did it once about 18 months ago. Wrote a v1.02 Su-33 mission where I had to kill some Kh-55's before they blew up the Admiral K otherwise I had nowhere to land. Ran out of R-27's and R-73's, so gave the cannon a go. A bit easier over water as they stay at the same height. Tried, but could never do it again.....
