Short time frame means different things to different folks. To a guy in the street, it might mean a few weeks. To a military customer used to (eg.) 5-10 years to get a new weapon system developed, a short time frame might mean 2 years! Also, these are terms used by sales and marketing people - acknowledged as being about as trustworthy as real estate brokers.:music_whistling: I've posted this before a couple of years ago, but it illustrates my point. This what defense contractor marketing departments say and really mean........ They said: "Feasability studies are complete and we are in pre-production" They mean: "Two of our guys have talked about it by the water cooler...." They said: "This product is in production " They mean: "....and they figured out what colour to paint it" They said: "This product is in post-production " They mean: "We have sent someone out for a tin of green paint" They said: "This product is off the shelf" They mean: "We already have a tin of green paint" They said: "This product is off the shelf but is easy to modify to your (winter) specifications" They mean: "We already have a tin of green paint, we can buy a tin of white and charge you for both" They said: "Our skilled team are ready to modify the product to your specifications" They mean: "We have hired a guy who can paint, he has his own brush" They said: "This product is easy to modify by the end user" They mean: "We can sell you a 30,000 dollar paint brush"

Short answer - No. Longer answer - from what I have read in the past on the Forums, it took the Devs several man-years of effort to generate the Crimea/Caucasus map for Lockon (and that was with the Crimea part inherited from the predecessor Sim Flanker 2.51). Rumours are that the payware add-on Black Shark will have a little more terrain in the South Caucasus to complete the Georgian coast area down to the Turkish border. To do a completely new map would be a lot of money / effort and simply is not going to happen for Lockon.

Recrutement [French Language]
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Sog's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
First Heaven are well known on the CheckSix forums, I've D/L'ed at least one movie by Lordryte and his posse from there. I rather suspect they are looking to pick up one or two of your (bi-lingual) Canuck neighbours to the North :smilewink: As for myself, my French is almost all gone now (my teachers would be so dissapointed:cry: ), and my aerobatic flying nowhere near good enough for their standards.... -
Antiship with the Su-33
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Archer_02's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
1. Must have the ship as a TARGET in the mission editor (which you have done as you have the diamond) 2. press 7 for air to ground mode 3.cycle weapons till you have your Kh41 selected 4. Press I to switch on the (fictional) a2g radar 5. Launch when you get the LA (launch authorise) 6. Some ships need more than one hit so take some dumb bombs (or a dumb AI wingman) with you to finish the target off. Or some S25's - Whoosh! Bang!! -

I can't save my campaigns
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to pablo222's topic in User Created Missions General
After you finish a mission in a campaign, you have to save your progress by clicking the debriefing button and then, while looking at the debriefing screen, click (top left) "file" then "save". Don't confuse this type of saving with "save states" (ie the save button on the window you get after quitting, I have never had that type of save work, most folks haven't it seems). But anyway, you are getting frustrated with the whole thing and just want to fly and get further on in the campaign, so if the stuff I just told you doesn't help, then there are possible workarounds, so lets get into those. Firstly there is a really useful utility that will extract missions from a campaign so you can fly them as individual missions. No real difference from flying them in the campaign.... http://www.checksix-fr.com On the left side menu, click Lockon, then utilitiares, then look for ExtractMisCampLO_ENG Secondly you can declasssify the campaign in the Mission editor and fly the campaign missions in any order you want (plus change skins, weapon loadout, etc). I use this method all the time to cherry pick the most fun missions in a campaign and miss out the dull ones. Go into Mission Editor, upper left of screen click on the open button, bottom right TYPE OF FILE select CAMPAIGN, navigate the folder structure to the campaign you want and select it. Bottom right click on MAP. Now you will see the 1st mission of your campaign. Now you can "cheat" and overwrite the campaign password with your own. Use keystrokes rather than the menu to do this cheat. Press "ctrl + left shift + C" then type in a password e.g. 1234. Now press "ctrl + left shift + D" and enter your password e.g. 1234 Now all the missions in the campaign should appear on the right hand side and you can select the mission you want. -
OK, you dangled the hook into the water - I'll bite! How did you get those big fires / plumes of smoke?

IRONHAND question for you mate
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to ScEBlack1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Not all anti-ship missiles execute the last minute pop-up to dive onto the target. Some can do both, I believe that in real life the Harpoon can be programmed to pop-up or to fly straight and hit the target at the waterline. -
Setting up ships for KH41 missle???
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to ScEBlack1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Isn't it that the TARGET button that will add the diamond? Adding the ship as a target using the Goals icon will give you SUCCESS/FAIL. If you miss out this last step, then you will always get SUCCESS whether you sink the ship or not. See also answers in the original thread http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=17362 -
New movie: The Battle Sim - Naval Movie
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
As I noted above, that's what defense marketing is all about :music_whistling: . G_A did say in his first post that this movie was done for the "battle sim" bunch so it isn't aimed at deceitfully seperating some 13 year old from his hard earned 30 bucks (which would be despicable), rather aimed at seperating some countries armed forces from their unearned 300,000 bucks (which is quite acceptable to me as any spin off is likely to come our way eventually  )...... -
IRONHAND question for you mate
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to ScEBlack1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
In the mission editor, make sure you have an attack waypoint for your aircraft. Select the attack waypoint, then use the TARGET button and select the ship as a target. This will ensure you get a diamond on your HUD. When you fly the mission, select 7 for ground attack, select your Kh-41 as the weapon, press I to switch on radar, when you see LA (launch authorise) you can fire. Take some dumb bombs too as a single Kh-41 hit isnt enough to sink some of the ships, you'll likely need them to finish off the target..... -
2 questions - Radar question and AI question
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Duxa's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Duxa - Cali makes a valid point to consider when you begin flying on-line. Also worth considering while you are still doing offline campaigns/missions where there are multiple flights (you will always know if your own flight has ECM on as you are controlling them with radio commands). -
New movie: The Battle Sim - Naval Movie
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Sweet promo movie. A nice mix of the current state of the Sim and the possible (if a customer fronts up some development money), eg showing cockpit view of Su-33 landing on the Admiral K, then later showing exterior shot of AI F-18 landing on the CVN-70 - gives the "impression" that both are flyable right now. Ditto the exterior shot of AI SH-60 landing on the Perry's deck, then later showing a half second cockpit shot of the Ka-50 landing on a Perry's helopad. All standard marketing tactics likely to get a customer initially interested. Also likely to generate pages of posts on the forums from the gullible - LOL - but that is nothing new. Nice job Glowing - up to your usual high standard..... What's next in the movie pipeline? -
2 questions - Radar question and AI question
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to Duxa's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
You will see that when you are being jammed by the bad guys. You can always try a Home On Jam (HOJ) missile shot. Problem is that you dont know how far away the enemy is. So you may waste a missile on a HOJ shot if the bad guy is out of range of the missile. Your Wingmen. It can be tough to effectively manage them. They will often use afterburner to join up with you after takeoff unless you fly slowly and wait for them. They often seem to use afterburner lots of other times too. Once they are low on fuel they will leave the fight and go to the nearest friendly base and land leaving you on your own! In an air to air fight you can give your wingmen radio commands to split out left/right or High/Low. This can split the bandits up as they try to set themselves up to engage you. Do this well before anyone is in missile range, it is possible to get the bandits split into 2 groups. Then swing back into their lead group and engage them, telling your other group to do the same. You now have a temporary 2 to 1 advantage over the bandit lead group and hopefully can kill them before the 2nd bandit group can get close enough to help. -
TOPGUN Mod how to fly tomcat?

R-27T on center pylon
Brit_Radar_Dude replied to EvilBivol-1's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Let me illustrate a possible answer to that by way of an old Russian joke..... Two Red Army Tank generals are sitting in the sun outside a cafe on the Champs Elysees enjoying a coffee. 1st General: Aaah Paris, what a lovely city. 2nd General: I'm glad it is all finished. By the way who won the Air War? -
Tigrou is the greatest

JaBog-32 have a great movie section, the best of Tigrou, Glowing_Amraam plus other talented folks too. http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&lang=en While you are there, check out their real-life movie section. I hear there are folks out there who still haven't seen Ras des Flots and Mirage F1CR CT in Tchad (page 3 of the aviation movie section) and FOU (on page 5). French Air Force pilots in low level flying crazier than a box of frogs.... -

Kula66, I take your point, although a whole IL-76 to carry half a dozen missiles would be overkill :) Also I have read of instances in the Gulf War when A-10's were deploying to FOL's and carrying extra Mav's in a similar manner to ensure they had a few extra at the FOL. -
