  1. Troubleshooting problematic crashes of DCS 2.7.

  2. DCS Crash on 2nd Mission DCS standalone open beta 2.7. My System: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB RAM, Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT, 2x 1TB M.2 SSD cards. May as well join the party. I have been living through DCS crashed for the last 2 weeks and they do seem to start at '2nd mission crashes.' Have discussed this on discord at ED and GR and followed through on many recommendations including remove all 3rd party mods, slow repair, clean-up and some of 'Flappie's' guidance in his May 2nd post on this thread. No avail. I have sent all my crash reports to DCS, there have been 12 of them in the last week. Crashes tended to continue after second mission and crashed at random points in mission. I have looked over the logs though I am not sure what I'm looking for. All seem to have a load of warnings and errors regarding can't open files at 'bazar/shaders/enlight...' But this seems to have occurred before the first mission. I also looked over the 'dxdiag.txt' file and there were 9 'windows error reports.' 3 were related to DCS. May12 crash event after doing all the troubleshooting. First mission was instant action with F5E ready for take-off in Caucasus, flew around fired rockets and guns at ships had a successful landing. Second mission was instant action with SU33 land at carrier on Caucasus map. DCS crashed while loading. May 12 second attempt. Loaded F5E instant action take off Caucasus mission, flew around then landed. Crashed as aircraft parachute did not open. Exited mission did the Flappie settings OK. Second mission was a repeat of first, DCS crashed as loading. May 13 7am crash: Mission one F5E instant action take off caucasus, flew around and landed. Mission two F5E instant action take off caucasus, DCS crashed on loading mission. [This morning I increased the pagefile 8GB-16GB on C drive, activated D drive pagefile system managed 6GB, current allocation is 14GB. I have 32GM ram. Followed Flappie's advice below]. May 14 8am Success [Hopefully] Complete 6 simple instant actions missions. Pre-start: Deleted all fxo and metashader files. restarted pc. loaded dcs. Reduced Clouds to LOW. Was able to complete 6 missions. After each mission, completely ended mission and went to main menu. At main menu followed Flappie's advice below and opened options and clicked 'OK'. After 6th mission exited dcs. Missions: 4x F15C takeoff A.D. persian gulf. 1x F5E free flight caucasus. 1x F5E take off caucasus. Will do further testing later. May14 1:45pm local Sad to say that on further tests DCS again crashed on loading 2nd mission. May14 4:30pm local. It was suggested I disable Tacview which I did. I was able to run 5 short instant action missions in a row. Time will tell. May15 9am. After disabling and uninstalling Tacview and restarting pc I successfully loaded 6 instant action missions in a row this morning. 2xF15, 4xA10, 2xF18. Hopefully this has resolved the issues on my pc. The version of Tacview I had was released pre DCS 2.7 open beta. A new update for Tacview is in beta testing so I will wait till that is released. Now I will continue some testing and increase my clouds which I had set to LOW quality. Then begin adding trusted aircraft mods (A4, MB339, A29A). Even did 2 flights in a public server. May16 3pm. Sadly DCS crashing on loading 2nd mission has returned. Really frustrating. As Crashes continue I will update this post. Some of Flappie's suggestions that I have followed where possible: Flappie Suggestions I will try to remember this advice from Flappie. [Does not appear to have helped]

  4. @Luiz Renault Thanks.
  5. Found the Royal Australian Air Force 'Roulettes' demonstration team and ARDU have new colours for their new Pilatus PC-21 wondered if anyone would be interested in making skins for the Tucano.
  6. Hi everybody. Is this skin publicly available? Looks incredibly good as does the real world Tucano its based on. Thanks.
  7. Always looking for Canadian, RCAF, Royal Canadian Air Force content even Royal Canadian Navy content.

  8. I have really enjoyed flying the MB339. It was the first aircraft to fly in DCS and it was a great introduction. I regularly fly the MB339 in RCAF Snowbirds colours. Thanks for the Canadian colours. A great aircraft to start out. Some more of the Canadian colours available for the MB339.
  9. Thanks for the new missions. Working on the carrier landing mission gonna practice till I get that right.
  10. Hi the freeze occurs just before attack commences after going thru all the cockpit setup. Same thing happened with the bombing mission. I'm sure I would have pressed the 'spacebar' to try to unfreeze. But will check again over the week.
  11. MB339 Training Mission Possible Issue with rocket pod training mission. I was flying this mission and the screen would freeze when the 'instructor' would contact atc to get permission to fire. The voice over would continue on. This happened multiple times. On another attempt I was able to complete the mission by rushing through the procedures and launching rockets before this point and I was able to continue on flying around. Don't know if this is a glitch or I just pressed a wrong key. Do enjoy flying the MB 339 and I love the RCAF Snowbird livery that a DCS member made.
  12. 'ALT TAB' to read PDF files in game. Sometimes the simplest solutions are best but hardest to think of and painfully obvious. Been wracking my brain on how to read some these excellent aircraft manuals in DCS. This will make learning new aircraft much easier.

  14. Hi Rudel. I installed your updated missions and they all show up under 'Training'. Now off to do some flying. Thanks.
  15. Hi, I've downloaded the 5 missions tonight and will check them out in the next couple of days. Thanks for the 5th mission.
  16. Read over the thread again and still not have been able to get these training mission to show up in the 'Training' section. In regards to dashes I tend to eliminate them from all file names. A lot of those dashes and other symbols are also used as commands and the pc can glitch over them. In the 'Lessons.lua' structure symbols like - " _ ( ) can act as commands. Might be easier to eliminate them all together form file names and blurbs you've written. Would eliminate '&' and replace it with 'and' This is all based on my experience and headaches working with music files. If you let us know when you have updated the downloadable files I can download them and test them out. ps What program are people using to edit 'lessons.lua' I remember a video from Cap that you have use a specific program to edit files such as liveries.
  17. Thanks Rudel for you help. Moved the main folder around and got the big yellow circle up on the main DCS screen like you showed.
  18. Is there a simple way to test that I have installed this tech mod properly? Getting stuff properly into the right folders seems to be the hard part. My location: Saved Games > DCS > Mods > Tech > 476 vFG - Air Weapons Range Objects, 14NOV19 But there is a whole list of repetitive folders within the last folder above.
  19. Installed your missions and loaded the first to test and had a minor panic attack as my Skyhawk began rolling backward on the carrier had I been any slower in following instructions I would have rolled into a Hornet. Think I'm going to really enjoy flying these missions. [update: I can fly these missions thru 'Mission' in DCS and don't have to go thru 'mission editor'] I have placed your mission files in a unique folder 'Skyhawk Naval Missions (Rudel)' Location: Saved Games > DCS > Mods > Aircraft > A-4E-C > Missions > EN > Skyhawk Naval Missions (Rudel) Thanks for all the work you've put into these missions. Update: Able to fly missions thru 'Mission' menu in DCS.
  20. I have figured it out, I think. [update I can fly these mission thru 'Mission' menu in DCS and don' have to go thru 'Mission Editor'.] I have located my files in the following path and created a unique folder 'Skyhawk Bombing Missions (Sidekick)'. It works and I'm excited to start flying them. Thanks for all the work you have put into these missions. Location: Saved Games > DCS > Mods > Aircraft > A-4E-C > Missions > EN > Skyhawk Bombing Missions (Sidekick) Update: Can fly missions thru 'Mission' menu in DCS. --------------------
  21. Hi, I'm new to DCS and training on the Skyhawk. I really enjoy flying this aircraft a lot. I may have missed it but could you post the exact file folder location these files are to be placed. I think I know but would like to be sure. Location: Saved Games > DCS > Mods > Aircraft > A-4E-C > Missions > EN > Training Or do they go somewhere else? Thanks
  22. Thank you Rudel Re Moving Saved Games: Thanks for the tip and easy solution, took only a few seconds. [Hopefully an english language screenshot will appear below]. .
  23. Moving 'Saved Game' Folders Moving Saved Game Folders Hi, my question is similar. I was able to install DCS onto my D drive however the saved game folders were installed on C drive under users and I want to move them to the D drive. Can I simply copy and paste to the D drive the 'DCS' folder with sub folders from the C saved game folder and then delete the C drive folders? And DCS program will find them in the D drive. Thanks, Rick. :) ps saw the 'DCS updater GUI utility' post and reading that over now.
