Unlike past advice to increase stability and set it on multiply of 1024... Outstanding move.

SSAA was very 'power' consuming, so it is far from having in common with good performance. It was directed for quality of image, but technology is simply outdated. Please check out that your settings in Nvidia Control Panel are not in conflict with settings inside DCS. Many users complain about AA, but be aware as we welcome new technology AA in 2.9, we welcome to our DCS World new bugs with it. It is open beta...

Tip#1 Please pause the gameplay or unpause when standing on runway/parking with bo camera movement and then: - minimize DCS, open task manager, and disable half of your cores for DCS.exe -press OK. Check stuttering in DCS and come back to task manager. -open that core settings again, choose opposite configuration, check unchecked cores and uncheck previously checked in. -press OK. Check stuttering in DCS and come back to task manager. -back in task manager select (check in) all cores again for DCS.exe -press OK. Check stuttering in DCS and come back to task manager. In my case when I am using hyperthread enabled I need to do likewise once, at first DCS.exe launch every windows restart... And of course I can't explain why it is working. Tip#2 Change your power plan in your windows settings, there is hidden power plan Ultra Performance that is different from High Performance, Balanced and Battery Saving which are basic ones. You can Google to set it as active and check out. Tip#3 Return your pagefile to auto

My configuration give me stable 50 FPS (with limiter on) with theoretical FPS above 100. Quadro cards are hard to get configured for gaming due to it's priority to precision over the speed of calculation. It doesn't mean for me that I should get new PC, people with way better GPU for gaming have already experience the same stuttering issue. I haven't got much troubles with it in other games and DCS for long time. Once I had the issue with my CPU and this time it is also showing on CPU cores thread issue in DCS itself, because 2.8 was working just fine. Regarding my stuttering and HT - I have confirmed today that problem is almost gone with hyperthread enabled and reseting the cores for DCS in task manager. I have perfect stability and a huge performance gain with 2.9 after previous experience with 2.8 CPU - core- thread sharing might be clue of the problem in my case., Best Regards, Mateo

I have noticed improvement when I set my hyperthread in BIOS to enable. It is strange for me, usually hyperthread make things worse, but now during simple test I have notice improvement that is worth for ED to pay attention. It shows that my stuttering is probably CPU related. During my test one of core go to nearly 100% usage. I disabled that core and re-enabled during the gameplay, in effect stutters were gone again, and CPU usage was average on all cores. If some of you have the ability to hyperthred your CPU, it might be worth a try.

Hardware and settings: i7-6920HQ CPU @2.90GHz 2.90 GHz, 16GB RAM, Quadro P5000M (like GTX1080), Disk Space 2x500GB, currently free 50GB and 150 GB on disk with DCS pagefile set to 32768 as desired for DCS CPU overclock/turbo boost/hyperthread/c states/speedstep - all disabled in BIOS, either switchable motherboard graphics. CPU cores unparked - during gameplay in DCS all 4 cores nearly/fully loaded Unlimited Power plan for windows Nvidia Control Panel settings adjusted for DCS, different settings gave no impact or even get things worse Problem: DCS 2.5-2.8 at medium settings gave me about 45FPS as a stable value at FullHD resolution, pretty stable and fancy. DCS 2.9 even after first patch/hotfix is likely to give even 60FPS on medium settings (I have limiter set to 50 now), but few times a minute I have got huge stuttering, image freeze for 1- 3 seconds. I have tried to isolate the source - no success. I tried LOW/OFF settings with lowest possible resoution. Stuttering still exist, which is very strange to me that this stil existing at lowered settings. I attach my testing settings which are a bit lower than normal, screenshots with graphs, dxdiag, Logs and track files. stutter_01.trk stutter_02.trk DxDiag.txt dcs.log dcs.log.old DCS-SimpleRadioStandalone.log DCS-SRS-GameGUI.log DCS-SRS-InGameRadio.log debrief.log

Unfortunately patch did not solve my issue of stuttering Basic info to clarify: i7-6920HQ CPU @2.90GHz 2.90 GHz, 16GB RAM, Quadro P5000M (like GTX1080), Disk Space 2x500GB, currently free 50GB and 150 GB on disk with DCS pagefile set to 32768 as desired for DCS CPU overclock/turbo boost/hyperthread/c states/speedstep - all disabled in BIOS, either switchable motherboard graphics. CPU cores unparked - during gameplay in DCS all 4 cores nearly/fully loaded Unlimited Power plan for windows Nvidia Control Panel settings adjusted for DCS, different settings gave no impact or even get things worse DCS 2.5-2.8 at medium settings gave me about 45FPS as a stable value at FullHD resolution. DCS 2.9 after first patch is likely to give even 60FPS on medium settings, but few times a minute I have got huge stuttering, image freeze for 1- 3 seconds. I have tried to isolate the source - no success. I tried LOW/OFF settings with lowest possible resoution. Stuttering still exist. Some users show graphs or movies of DCS Frame time with FPS, it looks the same in my case, ST and MT version. No background programs. Does first 2.9 patch solve the stuttering for others ?

Before your information I have considered to restore DCS 2.8 (or even stable), but if update is likely to be published soon that I will find a bit more patience. We have crossed fingers and looking forward for it Best Regards

I have got the same. 2.8 pretty stable, 2.9 stutters. Tried to: - unpark the cores, - change BIOS options for Intel, - change windows hardware acceleration on/off, game mode on/off, - all DCS settings low to off - set fps limit on/off - different nVidia settings - upgrade nVidia driver to latest version - DCS clean and repair it will always stutter both ST and MT version. No success. 2.8 was stable and fine to me, without stuttering, 2.9 graphs of performance almost the same as
-
Quick test performed, I've expected improvement in MT version. It has got an impact on static camera stutters - there is noticeable improvement - way less stutters, or even gone. Unfortunately during change of camera or simply moving the direction of view - stutters are just as it was - very present. EDIT: I did not expect any effect on ST version, and I haven't noticed any change nor improvement.
-
My VRAM is stable, half full during tests. I suppose it is not the related with my stuttering. Thanks for info to check.

I have noticed major improvement in stuttering issue and reduced it more than a half with increase of Preload Radius. I have used to have it down on 100, and now after increase to 30000 I have got noticeable improvement. Somebody bothering with stuttering please check out.
-
I suffer stuttering both MT and ST. After cleanup and repair I have got still the same issue. No luck...

ED should propose some troubleshooting/update/solution for stuttering/freezes that many users have mentioned. It is not about quality, it just makes DCS unplayable right now even we have got good FPS, stuttering and freeze are worse than stable low fps. I have experienced it EVEN with all settings to OFF/LOW and after delete metasheders2 and fxo as suggested with older updates. Edit: Stutter and freeze are not VR related issue.
-
I have got the same, strange strong stutters that last 1-2 s and appear once per minute or even more. I do the test with all new features OFF and AA also OFF. Just to init new optimum settings - I fail.
-
So we might assume DCS is actually addiction issue ? Anyway horror scenario...

I have got lately the same problem, nothing helped. I did update Windows and it was the solution for me. It might be helpful tip for someone who face it.

Wings area is defined by engineer just as reference area in order to calculate things not with raw force but with coefficients It doesn't mean at all that F-18 which got CL nearly 2 can produce more lift than MiG-29 with it's CL 1.5, they use different references. Usually wing areas are 'extended' inside the fuselage - leading edge extended to root with straight line, and the same with trailing edge line. In case the aircraft have LERX... things complicate a bit. During low angle of attack LERX is aerodynamicaly invisible (if well designed ), and during high AoA the LERX induced vortex engergy is essential to produce the high lift. Moreover, lifting body issue is also important. Discussion take into account aircraft CL which is superposition of wing CL, fuselage CL, ale horizontal stabilizer CL. Regarding fuselage CL, engineers can define it for many different ways, but reference stays the same as for previously defined wing. Regarding the horizontal stabilizer CL, aerodynamic stability have big influence on the result. If aircraft is not aerodynamicaly stable, it will generate more lift (less negative lift), and if the aircraft is aerodynamicaly stable, we can expect that horizontal stabilizer will generate less lift (more negative lift). Reference here is also wing area. Very interesting thing is the dynamic lift behavior. During dynamic increase of AoA, lift measured at one value is different than during dynamic decrease of AoA, even the measurement was done at the same value of AoA. Here enters the hysteresis of lift...

investigating Thrust to weight ratio: confused
Mateo replied to bkthunder's topic in MiG-29 for DCS World
I would recommend to all interested of such comparison of different aircrafts to ensure understanding the basic theory of glide flight. Just to get the things straight: maximum lift to drag ratio is a one number that allow you determine the range of glide (no wind) and is not related to aircraft mass at all. The mass have the influence just on the speed. Increase of mass will increase the optimum speed. Range will stay the same.
