  1. I tried that before. Didn't work. The missile/gun that would be guided on the target would fall short. In any case, I've been noticing this a few times, I like to take my time to complete a mission, and after a while the laser starts producing erroneous data. Especially a problem if you saved that last Vikhr for that one last AA unit, and after fumbling around with 100 different settings (restarting laser, relocking, etc etc), finally getting a lock, firing the missile... and see it punch a hole in the ground because it just fell to earth (no, I didn't put ATGM in manual or any of that). -Z
  2. There are three mirrors aren't there? The first US Mirror did the job fine for me personally. If you have problems downloading/timing out you may want to try a download manager or something, at least you can "retry" your file then, or continue downloading where you left off the last time. You can always uninstall the download manager afterwards. -Z
  3. Haven't put in nearly enough hours yet to really see a trend, but I can at least confirm I've been seeing the same things. Was quite surprised to see how close they were cutting it yesterday :) -Z
  4. Possibly. The accelerated startup procedure goes over the basic navigation and radios switches etc. When I join a mission where the helo's already spooled up and ready to go, with all systems functional and operating, I notice a bunch of switches not covered in the accelerated startup procedure. On the other hand though, when doing the accelerated startup procedure, it seems to me all the relevant switches to activate the weapon system are turned. It tracks and fires fine as well. -Z
  5. I had the same. Then I rebooted my computer, and the problem had vanished. You sure you tried rebooting yet? -Z
  6. I downloaded it today, and it was fine, I used the first US mirror. So, before getting all foamy at the mouth, try using a download manager or something? -Z
  7. SimWare will probably carry it. -Z
  8. Well, if ED are curious about a reliable payment handler, PayByCash might be an interesting option. Not that I'm trying to plug them or anything, they just offer a very wide range of payment methods, and have a respectable list of customers, such as f.ex. Electronic Arts etc. -Z
  9. Tried running your favorite text editor as admin ? -Z
  10. Mirage 2000. It would be bliss. No other simulator out there models this plane to any satisfying degree of realism. -Z
  11. How about "PayByCash"? I paid through them a few times in the past, they're running a fast and smooth operation there. Most of all, they offer various different payment options. I even thought they're one of the fastest growing internet retailers, or whatever you call that branch, payment processing firms or so. [edit]Appears both Sony and Electronic Arts already offer PayByCash as a payment method for their online stores, and many others. Clicky -Z
  12. At last! Hopefully the international versions will follow shortly :) The only Xbox360 exclusive this fall is Fable II. -Z
  13. Fair enough, I exaggerated. They could very well come in the form of something small to suit a specific objective. I dunno, bomb a bunker or something. But do you really think they'd be used to have a small effect? If they'd be used it would be as a last measure, a worst case scenario. It would be with the idea to whipe out as many as you can with one blast. A nuke doesn't have to be strategical to have the same goal. I can think of little applications for a weapon like that. So if it isn't going to be giving a big bang, why use it? Why not use a conventional weapon? You see the logic here? It doesn't matter whats out there, it's about the logic of using it. -Z
  14. Nukes... No. As people have said before me plenty enough. It doesn't fit the bill. As people have said before me, there's plenty of other stuff that needs priority. Wiping out half of your tactical map with one bomb... thats not why I fly sims. Even if it's in the game, I would find it highly unrealistic to fly around with a bomb like that under my wings. There are of course exceptions, but with the scenarios ED seemingly wants to portray, there's no real interest in escalating the war beyond conventional. There's no point, especially because the story wouldn't be any more interesting with nukes added. -Z
  15. WWI BTW, I live in Flanders fields :) -Z
  16. Have to say, I fully agree with the OP. In comparisson with the approach many in the industry seem to take, ED shows genuine care for it's fanbase. We haven't been fed just teasers, we've been shown one step at a time, the scope of things to come. And every bit of information that is released, keeps adding to the bigger picture. The way things are progressing, things will never grow stale :) The way it's looking we'll be enjoying a complete product, with all the added benefits of competent and open developers/testers. -Z
  17. Yeah, but Naval gunfire is a great deal more devestating than an aerial bombardment. Source: an article about FAC's (Forward Air Controllers) in Vietnam. They liked it when Phantoms came in, but the Missouri (or whatever the name of the battleship was) surely out-devestated them. One flight of Phantoms could do as much damage as about 1 turret of the Missouri - each gun firing one round. Of course, a 400mm round is quite a big thing :p But that's offtopic I'm afraid :( <Z>
