  1. Thanks. They are evaluating my claim. Why did you return your G2?
  2. Kinda off the topic but I had a gradually progressing set of problems that ended with it doing a brick imitation. But yes, the very first symptom I had months ago was the screen intermittently going black.
  3. My Reverb G1 just died. It was great but only made it 18 months so I’m a little suspicious of HP reliability. I’m considering the Index, Reverb G2, or Quest 2. Already have Index lighthouses (my son’s) so I would only need he headset. Thus, for me, the prices are similar. Reverb $600, Index $500, Quest2 $350ish. The new headset will be used primarily for DCS.
  4. I also played with both an Index and a Reverb (G1). The Reverb was clearly superior (no pun intended). For example, I could sit back in a Viper and clearly read all the text on the MFDs. It’s really incredible. With the Index (my son’s) I have to lean forward or use VR Zoom. The difference is most noticeable inside the cockpit as the outside view is pretty similar. That said, the Index still has a great picture and I would not be disappointed with it. FOV is a bit better which adds some immersion. Also, my Reverb just died after 18 months so I have a rather dim view of HP at the moment. Actually I’m considering whether to replace it with a Reveb G2, Index, or Quest 2. I’d only need the Index headset so that puts the price in-between the Reverb and Quest.
  5. Gotta be some settings causing this. Your system is better than mine and I'm running a smooth 50-70fps on a Reverb G2 with graphics nearly maxed. I have my 3080 set to override in-game settings if that helps. Otherwise my Steam VR settings are pretty standard.
  6. Smooth in VR here. I'd concur on the SteamVR settings. You just have to keep tinkering with VR settings until things work. After VR is out of "Early Adopter" status in 2035 things should be easier.
  7. I've got to add my THANK YOU to the developers. I know it's not finished and not perfect but I'm really impressed with how smoothly this upgrade went [for me] and how fantastic everything looks. I thought the smoke and fire effects were good before but now they're memorizing. Clouds and lighting are awesome. My FPS in VR is unchanged if not better. I know it was a ton of work and there's more to do so please know your efforts are appreciated.
  8. Try my dynamic BARCAP mission for the A.
  9. Okay, so this is really interesting. You say you're getting a good image with these settings? I'm happy with the image and FPS running PD of 1.2 and Steam VR SS at 100%. But I'll try it . . . owning VR means always adjusting the settings! BTW . . . For those still hunting for a 3080, I got mine by signing up for one of those free alert services. I think it was HotStock. I was annoyed by it for weeks. Then one day it alerted me when some were available and I was able to place an order. I didn't try to buy a second one though. That would be sleezy. Geeze, who would try that?
  10. What a fantastic idea. Did I miss an ETA? (Not that I'd hold anyone to it - I know this is a ton of work to get right.)
  11. That was awesome! Great job!
  12. Hi everyone, I'm sharing this dynamic single-player F-14A/Supercarrier mission for two reasons: (1) I think it's fun and re-playable so I hope others enjoy too; and (2) it's near the limits of my mission creation skills so I thought I'd ask the experts out there for any feedback/advice. I'd like to improve my skills in the mission editor but I suspect I've gotten about as far as I can go with self-study. I've never posted a mission before so be gentle. This mission requires no mods or maps - just the F-14 module and the Supercarrier module. Of course you could edit it for use with the F/A-18. It is dynamic in that the enemy anti-ship strike packages vary in composition, start locations, and start times. The mission is loosely set in 1986 but don't get too caught up in that. (IRL the TR didn't commission until October '86.) There are some custom sound bites and I pilfered a few sounds from the Reforger campaign. If that is not appropriate let me know and I'll re-do them. Hope you enjoy it. F-14A FLEET DEFENSE 1986 SITUATION: The largest carrier battle since World War II is over. A massive Soviet airstrike was just beaten back but not without cost. The carrier is badly damaged, USS Carr is sunk and both the USS Ruben James and USS Port Royal are barely afloat. Many aircraft, including the airborne E-2C, were lost and others are in need of repair. It took nearly everything we had to safeguard the carrier. Now we're putting another E-2 in the air and reconstituting our CAP with remaining aircraft and crew. We expect the Soviets will try to finish off the carrier with follow-up strikes soon. The Soviets took a lot of damage too so we know they can't muster a full strength attack. But we also don't know what they have left or where it will come from. Or when. The Soviets know exactly where we are so EMCON is no longer a factor. All our radars are lit up. TACAN is 71X and ILCS is on channel 11. BLUE TASK: Barrier Combat Air Patrol (BARCAP) You and your wingman will be among the first in the air again. Get airborne and fly to waypoint 1 to avoid scheduled missile launches. Then proceed to waypoint 2 and patrol between waypoints 2 and 3 to protect the fleet. The Soviets may attack from multiple directions or attempt one large strike. Don't get drawn away by bogeys that aren't hot (inbound). Remember to return to the BARCAP after any engagements. We will have more fighters ready soon so we will establish a Ready-5 as soon as we can. Alpha Whiskey (Air Warfare Commander) will launch the Ready-5 only if an inbound strike is confirmed. Maintain the BARCAP until you receive further instructions. If you must leave your BARCAP station to engage a threat, remember to return to the BARCAP (waypoints 2 and 3) when the engagement is over. Good luck. We're counting on you. DEVELOPER NOTES: This mission will spawn random threats to attack the carrier and the player. Up to three groups will spawn from one or more locations. Spawn times, enemy composition, and start locations are variable. Note that going "feet dry" puts the player at risk for SAMs, AAA, and additional air threats. This is a COLD START mission with stored INS data. Note there is a slight start delay. The player must be in the assigned BARCAP area (waypoints 2 and 3) to officially complete the mission. To win, the player must land, all ships must survive, and most threats must be neutralized. Destroying all enemy aircraft is not necessary to achieve victory. The mission is designed to take slightly more than one hour to complete. EDIT: Minor tweak to the original file to ensure enemy strike doesn't abort. F-14 Fleet Defense.miz
  13. Same as Strider21. I might see some motion blur with close passes but nothing like a whole separate ghost image. Granted, finding the perfect VR image requires lots of fiddling, some ritual chanting, and a bag of magic chicken bones.
  14. Not really although I’m conditioned to expect a certain amount of crankiness in VR. I played a lot of missions over the weekend and had one crash to desktop mid-flight. It’s very jarring but the my other flights were just fine.
  15. FWIW, my kid just ordered lenses from VROpticians and they said 10-12 weeks but it only took 4 weeks.
  16. Well, it's not your system. I'm running a Reverb on an i7-8700k and 3080 and don't get ghosting with SuperCarrier. I would think its something in the NVIDIA settings. I would post e my settings for comparison but I'm not at home right now.
  17. Yeah, I'd echo DayGlow. I use a Reverb and learned to always make sure the room is as bright as I can make it. The inside-out tracking needs to be able to see the room clearly. If I play in a dark room I get the symptoms you describe.
