My understanding is if you have the Normandy 1944 map it gets upgraded to Normandy 2 High Detail FOR ONLY THE 1944 AREA. But the full Normandy 2 map is larger and has more detailed areas. You still have to purchase the Normandy 2 map to get the full area in high detail. No changes are made to the Channel Map therefore it does not get upgraded as this time. In otherwords all owners of Normandy:1944 are getting a free upgrade to Normandy 2.0 Light which gives you a key to Normandy 2 for the unlock and does not actually give you the full 2.0 map and detailed areas, only some of it is for the 1944. This is also what allows 1944 owners to play on 2.0 servers without paying for an upgrade they just won't see some of the pretty pretty stuff. As per the Faq .... " I already own DCS: Normandy 1944. What happens? Excellent! Your existing DCS: Normandy 1944 map will be updated for free so that the whole area of the original map is in the same high-detail as in the DCS: Normandy 2.0, and you will benefit from updated airfields and a significantly increased total map area but at a lower level of detail. You will still be able to play on your favourite servers or with friends even if they upgrade to DCS: Normandy 2.0 and you don’t, but your areas of high-detail are significantly smaller and may be missing world objects. If you wish to, you may pay $14.99 USD to upgrade to DCS: Normandy 2.0 for all the benefits described above." I think the new Lagacy Keys for 2.0 are setting off the "You already have a key for this product" warning.

MT VR Headset Poll for no or worse performance
Major_Mayhem replied to T-Pap's topic in Virtual Reality
Valve index, AMD R9 5900x (12core/24threads), 64gb (4x16gb) 3600 DDR4, RTX3080(10gb) 2tb m2 PCIe x4 gen4. pre-MultiThreading I got a solid 45fps @ 90hz. Now I can barely get above 37-40fps at 80 90 and 120hz. with the same settings. -
No problem MAXsenna I'm really fast to judge people. But this is starting to become a Cluster Bomb (Bomb is not the word I would use, but I don't want to get banned) Apparently the people running ED's DCS facebook page (See Screen shot) are still claiming the max discount is $14.99 even if you do own both maps. I really wish Eagle Dynamics would clear this up across all media (Social, ED forums, Newsletter etc.) once and for all.
-
Thanks for the update AdrianL. Honestly MAXsenna I don't care, if this forum had a user to user ignore or block list you would be on it the minute I pegged you (even if wrongly so) as one of those people that defend bad developer behavior like loot boxes and micro transactions in full priced AAA single player games. I sited my sources and showed were I was getting my information, so did AdrianL, which I appreciate. From my perspective ED dropped the $9.99 price for owners of both maps in the march newsletter, Both on the forums and on social media ED was stating that they did in-fact dropped the discount for owning both maps. I posted screen shots. Apparently about 11 hours ago (midnight my time) Kate Perederko stated it was their mistake. Apparently other ED staff like Nineline ran with it and put out bad information based on that mistake. When I asked about the discount for owners of all maps on being dropped on "DCS World by Eagle Dynamics" facebook page (that is usually managed by Nineline/Norm) Myself and several others got the same copy/paste response from ED ... "Since then, the developer has listened to customers and have added a huge amount of additional detail, like new airfields and POIs. This was not originally planned when first announced. As such, the discount pricing has to change a little to account for this." The only response from ED that didn't seem to be a scripted Copy/Pasted response were the ones Nineline signed (pictured.) So in all honesty either communications between ED staff is rather chaotic or ED was going to toss owners of both Maps under the bus and backtracked due to community back lash. Either way as long as they honor their promise I'm good.
-
"It was a mistake in the newsletter. Original pricing will be honoured." Ummm ED has confirmed that there will be no $9.99 price for owners of both the Normandy 1949 and channel maps. This has been confirmed on facebook and in the "DCS Newsletter Discussion 3rd March 2023 - Normandy 2" as AdrianL pointed out a few post ahead of yours. Basically they broke their word. I personally think that owners of both maps are such a minority it shouldn't hurt ED that bad to honor the original upgrade pricefor both maps, but on the flip side owners of both maps are such a minority that ED really isn't worried about breaking their word to us ... So what if a small percentage of players feel betrayed and walk away it's apparently worth it more to ED that they make that extra $5 from the owners of both maps willing to put up with it. I'm not a very good fanboy. I love fallout games ... but I would never defend Bethesda for the mess that is fallout 76. I have well over $750 bucks invested in DCS over the last 10+ years, but I'm not fanboy enough defend them on breaking their word on prices even a measly $5. I would have been less upset if ED had raised the price for owners of both maps to $14.99 and the owners of one map to $19.99, but instead owners of both maps got thrown under the bus. Pictured are two copy and paste responses that ED (probably Nineline) made on facebook regarding price.
-
Maybe ED should stop stating prices before a product is actually up for sale. At least this way ED doesn't anger it's player base when they pull the rug out from under their customers feet and make themselves look bad. While those of us that have both maps are only getting screwed out of $5 it's still a dirty move! In all honestly I am going to spreed the word on this, and other will do the same. It will eventually make it into other gaming forums, social media, Youtube, etc. Some day the gaming industry needs to learn to not make promises they can't keep!

In the 07 October 2022 Weekly Newsletter on the Normandy 2 map it stated .... "DCS: Normandy 2 will be available as a complete map for $59.99 USD. If you have either DCS: Normandy 1944 or DCS: The Channel maps, you can purchase Normandy 2 for $14.99 USD. If you own both, you can purchase DCS: Normandy 2 for only $9.99 USD." Source: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/586a6c51e05f3e73556af3f5682afdcb/ In the current 03 March 2023 Weekly Newslette on the Normany 2.0 Map the Development Update update states .... "those of you who already own Normandy 1944 or Channel maps, the Normandy 2 upgrade will be available for only $14.99. Please read the details below and check out the Development Screenshots." & "The price of the Normandy 2 map is $59.99, but for all users of Normandy 1944 or Channel the new map will be available at a price of $14.99. The map will be available on both our eShop and Steam." Source: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/newsletters/fca09769c3ce35947bcff6542caa3b1b/ There is no mention of the 9.99 price for owners of both the Normandy 1944 and Channel Map in the latest update. So my question is did Eagle Dynamics just Re-neg on us?

I have the same problem My system is an rtx3080, r9 5900x, 64gb ddr4 3600, Valve Index. When I shut down DCS it closes and steam Vr shows that it closes, however I can often still see the dcs.exe process running in the background. However more often then not DCS Integrated Countermeasure Editor (Dice) is left running and on the tack bar. are any of you running Are you using DiCE: DCS Integrated Countermeasure Editor? or SRS?

ANOTHER UPDATE AND STILL NOT FIXED It's only been like 8 months now when the bug was introduced in 2.7 I have to open DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft\P-51D\Cockpit\Scripts\clickabledata.lau and change ....... elements["pnt_134"] = default_movable_axis(_("Carburetor Cold Air Control"),devices.ENGINE_SYSTEM, device_commands.Button_8, 134, 0.1 ) elements["pnt_135"] = default_movable_axis(_("Carburetor Warm Air Control"),devices.ENGINE_SYSTEM, device_commands.Button_28, 135, 0.1 ) To elements["pnt_134"] = default_movable_axis(_("Carburetor Cold Air Control"),devices.ENGINE_SYSTEM, device_commands.Button_7, 134, 0.1 ) elements["pnt_135"] = default_movable_axis(_("Carburetor Warm Air Control"),devices.ENGINE_SYSTEM, device_commands.Button_27, 135, 0.1 ) I have to fix it myself after each update Including the update! I can understand this crap on the TF51 (Which this bug also effects) as it's a free mod that comes with game client. However I paid real money for the p51d Module and I should NOT have to constantly fix ED screw ups that should have fixed in the first patch after 2.7! -
Lag and flicker in VR since 23.12 -> 2.7.9.17830
Major_Mayhem replied to Buzzer1977's topic in VR Bugs
I have the same problem in VR on a valve index mostly with warbirds looking straight through the prop specially on the ground. Happens with other aircraft but not nearly as bad as it does with warbirds but haven't tried helicopters yet. If I look out the sides of the cockpit or down at the dash the flickering stops. It also only does this on what would be the UI area. CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900x GPU: Nvidia 3080 Mem: 64 GB HDD: 2tb Samsung PCIEx4 980 Pro -
Launch Bar Retract and Extend Mapings
Major_Mayhem replied to Major_Mayhem's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Another new patch .... Still not fixed. Now some of us are getting a flicker/flashing effect in VR. Plus we now have a new f-18 drop tank bug where when you first drop a drop tank the sidewinder growling sound goes off. I guess it's back to making fun of ED on social media. -

Another update today .... Still not fixed. infact if you own the WinWing Take off panel ,you now have more stuff broken. Seriously ... It's been like 8 months now! Any chance Eagle Dynamics can just stop mucking up the control settings!?!?! Well I'm off to Troll and Bad Mouth ED on social media. <S> -
I have the Winwing Take Off panel and until the last update in open beta (2021/11/18) the Launch Bar Retract and Extend switch (on-on) worked perfectly. However after today's update the toggle switched stopped working and both the Launch Bar Retract and Launch Bar Extend Mappings are gone out of the adjust controls setting page for the F/A-18. The only mapping is the Launch Bar Retract/Extend button toggle. Also Hook Bypass Field/Carrier is now mapped as a button toggle rather than a switch like the OLD Launch bar was. Would be nice if you added the Field and Carrier switch like the F-14 has. This breaks functionality of the Take off panel. You guys think you can stop mucking stuff up ... their was no purpose in doing away with the switch and leave just a toggle button for mapping. I hope this doesn't turn out like the P-51 TF-51 Air Intake and Canopy Controls that ED broke back in 2.7 which still have not been fixed. STOP MUCKING WITH THE CONTROL BINDINGS! THERE IS NO POINT TO IT! People spend a lot of time and money building custom controllers or just spend a Lot of money to purchased expensive controllers just to have Eagle Dynamics break functionality with an update. It doesn't help that ED take FOREVER to fix their mistakes ... the P51 still isn't fixed and it's been 8 months now!

For Fixed wing the best prosumer/consumer rudder pedals are probably going to be the Thrustmaster TPM pedals but your going to pay a premium. Virpil pedals while not pendular like the thrustmaster TPM are still pretty awesome even for helicopters. You can run them with Heavy or light springs, double the springs up, run them with rubber bands, or even run them springless. Virpil Pedals are all metal. One of the 4 models lacks toe brakes. The toe brake models are superior to MFG and SLAW pedals which are similarly priced. If you can live without toe brakes and don't have to manspread the best bang for your buck pedals are probably going to be the VKB pedals. If you have to manspread but don't need toe brakes the Virpil Warbrd Pedals are nice. I have the Virpil ace collection pedals myself on a Pein Pedal Mount. I cannot recommend anything cheaper than the VKB pedals as most rudder pedals below this price point are plastic crap and/or 8 bit, You would probably be better off with a high end stick that has twist like a Virpil Constellation Alpha, (VKB has some sticks with twist and Winwing has a twist adapter.) I had CH pedals that lasted for years but they where plastic 8 bit pedals that always had issues like gummed up tracks and the toe brake cable would occasionally brake off inside the base, but you the OP was asking about High End rudder pedals. Thrustmaster TPM (With Toe Brakes and Shocks/plungers), Virpil Ace (with Toe Brakes), VKB (without Toe Brakes), Virpil Warbrd (without toe brakes).

New update today, still not fix! Any chance I can just get a refund on this mod? I guess I'm gunna go back to badmouthing people on facebook, I would much rather be flying my "Fixed" p-51d Mustang that I paid money for but, it's not fixed. -
Carburetor air control at hot start?
Major_Mayhem replied to Silent Film's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
This bug has been around since 2.7 you would think ED would get off their lazy arses and actually fix their existing crap before moving on to the next "Never gunna finish" early access POS module. But here we are with same crap broken and ED has managed to push out the Mi-24, Mosquito, and peddle the AH64. I've dumped over 400 bucks into this game I'm not spending a dollar more until they fix their crap. -

Still Broke AF but ED has no problem moving on to two dozen other POS mods they are never going to finish! -
I posted this elsewhere...... 2.7 Open Beta P51d and TF51d Realistic controller mappings are jacked up. Right off I have warm and cold air intake axis mapped to my CH throttle quadrant. They show up in mapping and appear to work in mapping however since 2.7 they don't actually work or control the air intakes, same problem with mapping the canopy button neither the Keyboard combo and the joystick button that I have mapped to Canopy ... they simply do not work even though they show up as working in the control settings. I think 2.7 broke a lot of stuff and It's obviously that 2.7 is not ready for prime time yet.

Do the Devs even care? I get the impression the game engine is Eagle Dynamics red headed step child. They neglect it because they don't make any money off the engine and once you buy into a module you the consumer is kinda committed and ED already has your money. Look at the new cloud system ... they spend a butt load of resources on a cloud system most players won't be able to enjoy (Specially in VR) when they could have just dumped those resources into their game engine ... Maybe in 2.7 they can make it so that the game can utilize more than one CPU core ..... I know I'm asking for a lot .... I mean it's not like multi-core processors have been out for more than 15 years. LOL Again even Aces High III does VR better and it's a F2P & Subscription based MMO WWII combat flight sim made by an Indy Developer (HiTech Creations) being run by One Guy (Dale "HiTech" Addink) in his home in Texas.
