HOTAS CM down means pressing down the switch, not moving it back/forward.

Of course I didn't do THAT! Thank you!

I just noticed that I couldn't persuade a tanker to transfer fuel again once disconnected. I was clearly on the boom but no fuel transfer. I radioed abort, then contacted the tanker again and then could get fuel again, which is a bit of a pain since the tanker immediately breaks away after getting the abort radio call. Known problem or am I missing something?

How to safely engage T-72 tanks for a guns kill?
Para_Bellum replied to -Ice's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
You can designate an SPI from the HUD. Make the HUD SOI, then simply slew the cursor in the HUD to the general location, then TMS FORWARD LONG to make that point SPI. Now use the TGP to refine your search. I use that method quite often when hunting for targets without JTAC or a nearby steerpoint and it works pretty well against SAMs, too. -
Devil's Cross 01A - No Mission score?
Para_Bellum replied to zamboni's topic in Mission and Campaigns
Flew the 1st Devil's Cross mission today. Contacted JTAC and he gave me a UMT location. Headed there and soon spotted a tank column and engaged, killed 21 targets with 6 MAV Ds and 2 CBU 97s. Wingman got himself killed without firing a shot... Got a mission score of 51 and moved on to mission 2. -

Sinky: That is correct, I retract the airbrakes before opening fire with the gun. re: the video: I would strongly recommend NOT to overfly a platoon of tanks, you WILL get hit. -
How to safely engage T-72 tanks for a guns kill?

The way I do it (no AAA threats): fly at 10.000ft towards targets from behind (watch TGP), cut throttle, deploy airbrakes, dive onto targets at 30-45°, pull up at 3.000-4.000ft and break. I never get hit by tanks or those pesky BMPs that way and can consistently score kills. -
With CBU 87/97s I seem to get the best results by aiming for point #18 so far.

In the release version screenshots are saved to ...\Users\Username\Saved Games\DCS Warthog\ScreenShots. That is for Win7.

Actually, the HOTAS command to switch between TV/IR BH and IR WH is the BOAT SWITCH. China Hat forward short switches the zoom mode.

Pffft... compared to what I recently saw an Koh Phangan the internet on Samui is lightning fast. :D

Joystick recommendation needed...
Para_Bellum replied to GBS's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I have a difficult time not recommending the HOTAS Warthog. For many years I didn't think there would be a worthy replacement for my MS SWFF2, but the Warthog is just that good IMO. -
Thanks, Viper!

When I uninstalled the beta I made a backup of my old logbook. But with the release version there's no logbook file in that directory anymore, even though I created a new pilot. So, my question is: where is the logbook saved in the release version? :dunno:

That statement shows such an utter lack of understanding of what DCS:A-10 is all about that it's simply mind-boggling.

For those with slow torrent downloads...
Para_Bellum replied to JHepburn's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I've just finished the torrent with an average speed of 92kb/s, took about 13 hours. Will keep seeding for some time. BTW when I started downloading it showed only a hand full of seeders, right now I see almost 400. :D -
Guys, if the FTP servers get hammered, use the torrent file. It takes a while to get running but I'm currently downloading at 150kb/s. Let it run through the night and you'll be fine.

What a sweet surprise, thanks ED! ^^

Just wanted to mention that I play the beta on a Core2Duo E6750@2.6 Ghz, GTX 260, 4 Gig RAM, Win7 64 bit system at 1920x1080 resolution with a mix of high and medium settings and the sim actually runs quite well, around 30FPS in cockpit with TGP on in most situations.
-
1st you have to contact the JTAC. After the usual 9-line briefing you get the radio option "laser on", which will cause the JTAC to start lasing the target. Switch the TGP to Laser Spot Search mode and the TGP will (should) pick up the lased target and move the crosshairs automatically on target. Now make that point SPI and drop the weapon in CCRP mode.

Good idea, will try it out later this evening. -
Is my PC systems specs right for A-10C?
Para_Bellum replied to mavyalex's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
With that system I wouldn't bother to upgrade any of the existing hardware. A new grafics card would help but then would be slowed down by the CPU. And upgrading the CPU will probably be problematic due to the motherboard. And the 4 GB RAM is not even fully used under XP. I'd get a new system, with Win7 64 bit. -
Ermmm... what's the problem with de-installing/re-installing? 10 minutes of your life lost? ;)
