  1. Thank you, very interesting!
  2. Love the B-17. Would pay 100$ for a DCS level Flying Fortress with all stations modelled. I've spent hundreds of hours flying around the globe in the fantastic A2Asims B-17G in FSX. One of the finest virtual aircraft ever created.
  3. Thanks, much appreciated!
  4. I LOL'ed! Good stuff. :D
  5. I tried both. I also have mapped the function to my Warthog. I can see the button working in the cockpit, it's just that SAU doesn't engage.
  6. Yeah, I have the same problem. Sometimes SAU recovery works fine, then suddenly it doesn't. I'm probably overlooking something simple but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Latest example: I do the bombing training mission. Engage SAU recovery, working fine. Then I disengage SAU, bomb a target, recover from the dive, level and want to re-engage SAU-> no dice.
  7. That would be very nice.
  8. I'd make sure to check the HD, maybe it suffers from a couple of bad sectors. There shouldn't be any differences in loading times between the Steam and non-Steam versions.
  9. Can't praise the Mig-21 BIS enough. An instant classic.
  10. I'd like to add my thanks, too. What an amazing labour of love you guys have created here! The details are nothing short of amazing.
  11. Are you serious? I've seen all kinds of stuff over the years... "I don't fly Russian aircraft." "I don't fly helicopters." "I don't fly pre-70s aircraft". But "I don't fly stuff with scratched cockpits" certainly takes the cake.
  12. Yep, the Dora is an amazing aircraft. Open up the throttle, engage MW50, enter a climb and smile. :D
  13. Yep, a clarification here would be nice. I just did another test and even if I don't count the numbers in parenthesis I get: MG20_82 API: 4 MG20_82 HEI-T: 5 MG20_82 MGesch: 3 That's 12 hits by 20mm cannon. And the Mustang kept flying. Several times now I've seen a Mustang suffer a series of cannon hits and just continue flying as if nothing happened. I see detonations, puffs of smoke and then.. nothing. Now I'm far from being a top gun but when in other combat flightsims I hit a fighter-sized aircraft with a good number of 20mm rounds it usually dies, not continues to perform all sorts of acrobatic manoeuvres. ATM the 20mm cannons just don't feel right.
  14. 20mm cannon rounds are simply ineffective for me at the moment. Just did a dogfight vs a Mustang and according to the debrief I hit it with 37 (!) 20mm rounds and 31 13mm rounds. Did I mention the Pony kept flying?
  15. Let's not go overboard here with features. All that's needed in DCS for some believable infantry behaviour without the need to micro-manage every unit is a simple command to advance while still returning fire.
  16. Unhappy is probably the wrong word because I love DCS and am thankful for the many, many hours of entertainment I have enjoyed with the series since the Black Shark beta. It's just that the bonus system doesn't make any sense to me.
  17. The bonus system is IMO a joke. I can't use it to buy "new" modules and for the older modules can only use the balance for 20% of the module price. Probably a lot cheaper to just wait for a sale. As someone who bought ALL DCS products at full price I feel a bit... unhappy.
  18. Ah, Ok. My bad.
  19. You can do this for ground units, using the red/green/auto states. The problem is that you then have to babysit your units to prevent them from getting slaughtered once they get closer to a threat. It's doable if you have a dedicated ground commander but if you're busy piloting an aircraft it just becomes tedious. A simple change to infantry behaviour that would let them advance while firing/under fire at slower movement rate would easily fix this problem.
  20. Yesterday we were playing an MP mission where Hueys dropped off infantry that was to clear out a town. The problem is that currently infantry often stops every movement once an enemy is spotted to return fire. This leads to a lot of micro-management switching states to green/auto to force them to advance. I'd love to see infantry still advance when under fire, although maybe at a reduced speed.
  21. I have confidence in ED. A lot.
  22. I installed Aries and it seems to work. But now DCS crashes every time I end a mission. If I delete the export file in the Scripts folder everything is fine. With the export file present in the folder the game crashes every time I end a mission. BTW I'm using the Aries export file, didn't have one before.
  23. Thanks for the update, much appreciated Now get back to work so I can buy that beautiful Mig-21. :)
