  1. Just completed Oilfield with a smile on my face. I recommend it and would buy it again even at full price. It had just the right amount of challenge for me with < 30 hours in Mi-8MT and about the same amount in a few other DCS rotorcraft. Briefings were especially well made, but you have to read them very carefully every time. Failing to do this, I got lost a few times or didn't know where I was supposed to land. I think I completed every mission with the first try except when DCS crashed once (a mod was the cause). I especially liked the navigation challenges, because they created emergent gameplay. Instead of trying to hold my hand (which I dislike) the author taught me to use the navigation aids of Mi-8. So, I thought about what they could do, how they actually work and that was all it took to get me back on track every time. Very satisfying! If I had to nitpick about something, I did not find the humour funny; listening to one crewmember pick on another was... not entertaining to put it nicely. I also wondered is it even realistic that a real military organization would allow bullying like that when your superior officer is right there and can hear everything. Voice acting was fine except the technician who guided me in a foreign language even though I have English locale. I actually tried to learn what forward, back, left and right are, but the language course was too short. I think the problem is not related to just the Oilfield campaign, though.
  2. Confirm, this mission is working in v. 2.9.6.58056. I didn't need every signal flare I carried.
  3. Just wanted to report this mission has been fixed at some point. I just completed it in DCS (MT) v. 2.9.6.58056
  4. FYI it is still possible to take off without damage if you set collective to max immediately when the mission starts, I did this a few times. It's difficult to stabilize the Mi-8 after a crazy start like that but doable.
  5. Hi, Serial number 118 bricked. Was in storage for a couple of years because of a chafed wire under the inboard throttle lever. I already ordered the correct 7-pin JST 1.25 cable from China - then noticed the throttle is bricked... was ok when I stopped using it so I had no idea. Idk what to do really. Is there any alternative to buying a new board from TM? I can solder and I like to fix things. ~70 EUR for a new board is a lot for me right now as I have to pay my VPForce Rhino very soon. Been waiting in line for that one since September. I have another throttle but it's not very good. I have flown only choppers for the last two years and I've got a collective for that. FWIW my current MB is Gigabyte X570 I Aorus. I tried to get the fw back in using 3 different computers. Edit: I browsed this thread after posting and turns out there is something I can try and I only need to buy a microcontroller. Thank you @acidwise and @walmis! Edit2: @bn880 fixed my PCB (recommended) and I fixed chafed throttle wiring myself. Hint: if you order 7-wire (for right throttle) or 5-wire (left) JST 1.25mm cables, ask for a flipped connector at one end. Just look at the original connectors closely, they only go in one way.
  6. Another Hornet and (soon) Rhino owner here hoping to see G-load based FFB support in F/A-18, please.
  7. Just watched the first one. This explains everything. Thank you, Sir!
  8. Munkwolf's lua-code (link in previous post) works like charm. I can now bind everything to buttons in my cockpit, including the landing light switch.
  9. Nope, I already tried Spot Light Control Button Right. Landing light 3-pos switch is one of the many missing ones. I just learned there is a community project for this: https://github.com/Munkwolf/dcs-community-keybinds/tree/6f02282163ef3335ed462823795c22e59c977a97
  10. The commands are: Fix/Release reflector Reflector down Reflector up No default keys, set it up yourself.
  11. I'm still looking for the Control/Off/Retract switch in the Adjust Controls -menu so I can map it somewhere. (And all the pilot sight switches on/off, sync, brightness and... there were a few more for the pilot's sight). Anyone?
  12. That's what I'm talking about! Your design?
  13. You absolutely must get a collective lever too - you won't regret it. And agree 100% with OP the Hind is so exciting to fly in VR.
  14. I would wait until these are implemented before searching further. 30 mm gun isn't fully operational in the sim yet.
  15. Hi f4I0, You probably knew this but the cannon can be loaded inflight, so I'm thinking it must have "number of reloads" there somewhere too. These should be summed up to get the remaining ammo. If I wasn't so busy learning to fly this wonderful helo I could look into the code myself. I have no doubt you'll crack it before my vacation in August, though. I used to understand Lua export when I made a cockpit in 2011. Good luck and thank you for all your hard work, my BK2 is finally kicking butt as it should!
  16. Remember you can also make the flip of the trigger operate two or more buttons at the same time. I'm using it this way and it's handy in VR with the A-10. When I flip the trigger up or down, it acts as both the MASTER ARM and GUN ARM. This way I don't need a toggle switch for GUNARM. I've got separate weapon release and GAU-8/A triggers.
  17. Tell me about it. Before, I could barely take off in a Huey without breaking something. But last night, armed with my new K-51, I made a controlled approach and landed like a feather - on a hill top - in the f****** dark!
  18. Dymo D1, white on black 12 mm
  19. Small customizations. The black flat top switch cap is an optical fibre terminal (idk its real name). Sits very tight and in VR it gives a distinct feel under your thumb. 5 buttons/switch positions are still unused. I'm assigning more controls next.
  20. Thank you Mikhail, I will heed your advice. When I took the photo the controller was adjusted to its highest position. And Samfelic, please stay tuned: I just took measurements of my cyclic stand and will now draw a little picture for you. Part 1: 320 x 80 x 65 (column) Part 2: 40 x 95 x 125 (slab/handle on top of the column) Part 3: 135 x 40 x 200 with sides at 45° angle Part 4: 12 x 80 x 80 (for mounting the blackbox and hiding cables) There's a 25 mm hole (seen in picture 2) in the MDF sheet for routing all cables out of sight. The sheet stands on 11 small rubber feet. The column has another hole in it for joystick's cable management. I'm thinking of drilling a new hole for the collective controller's cable.
  21. While you wait, you have time to think of a mounting solution. Here is mine. 1) Start with 4 pieces of one by four wood: 2) This support is 31 cm tall with 30 degree slopes. Height is perfect for me, but 25 degrees would have been a better angle for the MDF plate under it: 3) Buy four M6 40mm bolts (top) and four M8 60mm bolts (bottom): 4) Thread an IKEA chair in its place (not difficult). The support is under the chair: 5) The mounting plate is at 31 cm height. The position can be adjusted ~15 cm to all directions with screws. The length of your back and left hand is what matters. For reference I'm 180 cm tall and I guess I have typical body proportions. 6) I tested the movement limits. The stick cannot be deflected fully to the left when the collective is floored but that's to be expected with a GF Mk II with 20 cm extension - and a thick left thigh. If I use about 25% collective, full deflection to the left is possible again. Has anyone checked if it is possible in a, say, real Huey? MDF sheet is 15 x 550 x 900 mm and stands on 11 small rubber feet (I think they're sold as door stops).
  22. Mine just arrived and as you can see, it is gorgeous. The finishing of the 3D-printed parts look even better in RL than I expected. First I did not realise the pen was printed too, thought it was injected. I plugged it in and ran a quick test. All the switch positions, even the middle one in the three-way switch, do register in windows. This is going to be very easy to use in any sim. Everything is working as expected. There is nothing to install, just plug it in. I ordered on March 14 so it took 10 weeks to manufacture and ship to Finland.
  23. Sorry to hear about your bad experience, Chops! My Asus RTX 3060 Ti was defective and had artifacts out of the box too. I think it was memory related like yours. This was in February when they were much cheaper too . I took a picture of the screen and returned the card to the online retailer in Turku, Finland and got it replaced with no hassle at all. A replacement card of the same model took a month to arrive. I didn't have to pay for its shipping or anything else. The price had gone up too while I waited. The chat personnel at Jimm's PC Store were very knowledgeable (they always are) and kept me informed. Will definitely shop there again.
  24. Was there a solution to this error? The thread is crazy long and I only found reports of the same bug. Thanks.
  25. I supported Elite: Dangerous on Kickstarter so I will receive my copy shortly. I will test it as soon as it will be released this year. Will be using it a lot of course if it works. If you want to add another sim title to your list at Sourceforge: I will use the panel with Steel Beasts Pro PE 3.0. Kiitos ArturDCS for this application! Will absolutely donate if I get it to work with the sims I play.
