Works like a charm and keeps everything the same so it’s not unnatural if u switch back n forth between vr and just head tracking I use the encoder around the biggest hat at the thumb on the throttle for my radar elevation and the handle axis for flaps and gear.

Assign buttons to the axis and use it for vr zoom. I fly both vr and track ir and that’s my zoom for both. forward is regular zoom and back is spyglass zoom

I have a virpil question that I don’t know of anyone but u can answer. could u help me with this please? On my vkb gladiator nxt, the analog stick is dual function. the center press is like a mode switch. It’s an analog stick but if u press the center button, it switches to an 8way hat and if u press it again, it switches back to analog. can this be configured with the alpha thumb analogstick? I’ve ordered it but it hasn’t gotten here yet I’ve watched all your videos and learned a lot that’s how I was able to set up and customize my cm3 throttle to perfection. I’m hoping u can help me with this so I can have them both perfect Thanks in advance for any help/advice u may be able to give

I don’t use steam vr. It happened to me in standalone. I’m not sure what it was. I figured it was that because it never happened except when vram exceeded the 8gb on the 2080 super but happened every time it exceeded even tho it only barely exceeded it at all.

I have a 1080 with a 2700x in one pc and a 5600x and 2080 super in the other which works pretty well but the 8gb of vram is sometimes a problem in vr if i crank up the settings, especially in Syria.

The virpil mounts stick out farther from the desk if I’m not mistaken. I use virpil and when I got them, I was surprised at how far away from the desk they put the controls. it doesn’t matter in vr but with a monitor, it puts u farther away from the screen. I’m not young anymore so my vision at distance isn’t what it used to be lol

Is amd better for dcs, particularly for vr in your opinion?

Me either. I’m hoping havoc will chime in. If it can be done, he’s definitely one of the people who will know how. I wonder if there’s a way to tag him in the post.

That’s the main thing and reason I’m asking. Dcs uses a lot of vram. I’m running a 2080 super now and depending on my settings, and especially in the Syria map, it’ll exceed the 8gb of vram on my card and what happens when it does that is it’ll get the extra memory from system ram which is much slower. Once it does that, it stutters really bad and the frames drop to less than half which in vr is completely unplayable. The problem is, it then keeps using that system memory and the frames stay like that until u restart dcs. mom wondering if the 16gb in the amd cards is actually beneficial or does the nvidia cards 10-12gb not limit it and with dcs in particular, perform better. the nvidia cards have a really good video encoder in case u ever want to stream and they’re better with ray tracing which are non factors in dcs but still a potential future benefit and may help retain value down the road. Each brand works better than the other depending on which game you’re testing but none of the reviewers test with dcs. this is the only place to ask this question. i wanna know which side dcs is on because if the added vram makes a difference in dcs or dcs performs better at all with amd, that’s what I wanna go with. That’s the priority for me.

Right but is there one brand that does better than the other at or near the high range in dcs vr?

This absolutely worked for me. Thank you so much. I tried redoenloading the game and everything. Nothing worked. for anybody else this happens to, try just deleting the “options.lua” file in the saved games, dcsopenbeta, config folder. I’m pretty sure that’s the culprit.

This happened to me. Before you delete the entire configuration folder, go in it and delete the “options.lua” file. I’m pretty sure that’s the one. save yourself some file copying and whatnot. lmk if it works for u. Worked for me

yea. its just a black screen without the headset but with it, i only get the hangar and recenter doesnt do anything and neither does using keyboard selection buttons like tab ot up/down arrows and enter. literally nothing changes anything

If you get stiffed on a product in an entirely different country where u can’t go address the problem in person and a public forum is your only recourse, I see absolutely zero problem with bringing public arrange toon to it. That’s the only power u have and I’m glad he gave everybody a heads up about his experience. Any reputable company wouldn’t hold your product ransom to silence you and forced to hide THEIR actions. if u want to make a safe purchase, I can absolutely recommend virpil. I bought a used throttle on ebay and it had a faulty axis. It was just barely within the warranty window and even tho it was bought used which I made them aware of, they had no problem arranging shipping and fixing it. They responded to every email I’ve ever sent within a matter of hours, were extremely polite and helpful. I can’t think of a single way they could've improved upon my experience with them. I have 2 virpil throttles. A cm2 and a cm3. One for me and one for my son. I couldn’t be happier with the service OR the products and I would never do business with a company who would send a message like that to a customer.
