  1. I would like to bring the attention to a visual bug regarding the Mi-24 rotor head animation in combination with the Motion Blur effect enabled. With the motion blur enabled, the rotor head just kind of disappears. Actually, that is not completely accurate. To put it more precisely, with the motion blur enabled AND actually affecting the background, then the rotor head disappears. That would be the screenshot "mi-24-blur-bug" taken during a dynamic flyby. The second screenshot - "mi-24-noblur-nobug" was taken in a paused state. The motion blur was still on, but did not affect the image, because it was a still image in a paused state (I hope I am making myself clear). The third screenshot, the "Mi-8-blur-nobug" is just a comparison with a different module, which is not affected by this bug. I assume the reason is that the Mi-8 module still uses the older rotor animation technology. Obviously, this is nothing major, but hopefully will be addressed after more important issues with the 2.9 have been resolved. Best Regards, Phil
  2. So the SSAA is off and actually has always been off. I will check the Motion Blur on in both Standard and MT version to see if there is a difference.
  3. Thank you for your input, Flappie, will check on the SSAA and report back.
  4. Back to square one. Update 2.8.7.42718, crash about 10 minutes after joining an MP server. Turned the MotionBlur off after the reboot, kept all other settings the same, including the Bokeh DOF - no problem. Something weird is happening here.
  5. Interestingly, since the last update (2.8.6.41066) the crashes stopped. All good now.
  6. Looks like we are getting back in the game, my DCS just started updating and the download speed looks normal.
  7. Thank you for your input. I thought that too, and based on the data I provided, that would be a logical conclusion. However, Motion Blur is actually not very GPU hungry. I have stable 60 FPS (locked by Riva Tuner), the GPU - Nvidia 3080 12GB version - runs at about 70% with this effect on. The PC does not crash even when I turn on effects like the Depth of Field with Bokeh , which is much more GPU intensive. With the Depth of Field on, the FPS fluctuate, I can definitely hear the GPU fans working hard, yet there are no crashes. The PC literally crashes only while playing DCS the Motion Blur on, regardless of whether the other effects are on or off. MSFS in VR is also stable and that certainly puts the GPU to work.
  8. Hello, fellow virtual pilots. I would like to share my sort of a weird experience with PC reboots when playing DCS with Motion Blur effect ON. After the recent Open Beta update..the one that came with Multi-Threading, my PC started to reboot randomly during gameplay. Initially, I could not really put my finger on it, I thought it was an MT bug or something, but it was the same in the non-MT version. After a few weeks of experimenting with various settings, I came to a conclusion, that the reboots are definitely caused by the Motion Blur effect (I had no logs or anything, obviously, due to the reboot thing). Which is sad...I am kind of a "screenshot-freak". Being a RL aviation photographer, I like to experiment with screenshots in DCS and the Motion Blur is a welcome effect, especially when it was significantly improved in one of the recent updates. With the Motion Blur OFF, my DCS is rock stable, even the MT version. Anyway...I don't really expect this to be fixed, I just wanted to put it out there and see if anybody has had similar problems with Motion Blur recently. But I assume this feature is not widely used...probably only by a few people who make videos and stuff like that. Regards, Phil
  9. This feature - to have the option to choose which terrains should be installed - is becoming a must. I run two dedicated servers - OpenBeta and Release. Each installation currently takes 170GB. There are two more maps coming - Kola and Sinai. Fair guess is 40-50GB each map. Plus all the new airplanes. Well, the airplanes are not that big a deal at the moment, even though who knows where the future takes us. But the maps definitely need to be optional. My "squadron" really only flies Caucasus and Syria and I am pretty sure most of the other groups use no more than three maps, yet they have to pay for more space (in case of cloud server hosting) or have to buy bigger SSDs just to store a bunch of data they are not even using. So, ED, pretty please, take it into consideration. I know you have a lot on your hands, but the way Dedicated server currently handles the maps is really impractical. Thanks, Phil
  10. And I thought I was the only one who was bothered by this. It is impossible to get a decent screenshot in multiplayer, besides the obvious fact that it looks unnatural without the blur.
  11. Now the ads are even in the Release update. Does not seem like anybody is doing anything about it. So what is the deal here? We have been repeatedly told that the ads would be reduced, yet nothing has been done and seeing them in the Release version certainly does not show any effort to remove them. Can somebody please give us a straight answer? Will the ads be removed or not? If not, will a refund be offered? To degrade a product to this extent after it has been paid for is absolutely unacceptable.
  12. If anybody had any hopes that today's OpenBeta update will result in the ads being removed or reduced, well, be advised, nothing has been done, the ads are still there in the same ridiculous amounts.
  13. I have created a ticket regarding this very issue, which is driving me crazy when flying the Mi-8 around Syria Map now. Here is the latest response, so there is some light at the end of the tunnel. *** Hello Phil. just to follow up on this the team agree there are to many billboards and it will be adjusted in a future patch Thank you for you feedback ***
