... I finally have some time to do some flying.
I've recently bought some new modules (I have all of them now) so it would be cool to join some pilots for a bit of multiplayer.
Any takers?
Fast load times yes. Zero load times no.
Your files are stored in a RAM disk sure, but they aren't in a usable state until they are loaded. Your textures are most likely compressed so loading will need to uncompress them to be usable among other things.
Threads having NOTHING to do with cores. Just because you spawn a thread does not mean it uses a core to execute on it.
Take it from a software developer. You can have as many cores as you want (or just one core), this doesn't determine the number of threads you can use.
Number of cores assists in efficient processing (as does HT). The software needs to be aware of the number of possible logical and physical processors and this is usually determined at compile time, or in the case of a interpreted language (such as .NET) the MSIL compiler will dynamically assign tasks over cores.
Thanks for the tips. I know Hz for Hz is never a direct comparison, but Intel doesn't have such a huge edge as to cause issues like this. That smacks of Intel elitism to be perfectly frank.
I've used AMD cpus for a long time (the last time I had a Intel based PC was back in 2001). I'm not going to get into an Intel v AMD debate, because the performance difference does not justify Intels premium price tag.
Besides, I did say CPU usage was low. If AMD was struggling we'd see a higher percentage in usage.
The Mig21 has finally tempted me back to DCS. Initially I was awaiting EDGE before I jumped back in.
The reason i stopped was extremely bad performance.
My PC specification is in my signature. I did a quick test and here are the results. Crossfire was disabled for this test.
Take a look at these images

Note the FPS counter in the top right and then take a look at the GPU usage level.
Why is this? The game is practically unplayable because no matter what I do, FPS is appallingly bad.
CPU usage was 15% also.
Can anyone help with this?
Sorry, misread. Thought he meant TAD.
Theres a round about way to triangulate a thread based on RWR position but I'm not going to go into that.
I think in RL it is possible but not reflected in the sim
Yes. With your TAD as SOI, move the cursor over the red flashing triangle. DMS Forward Short, then DMS Forward Long to mark SPI.
TWS Forward long to slew sensors to SPI.
(Edit, from memory, DMS/TWS may be the other way around)

Belsimtek please! ;)
I would love to see this developed. I would be a good match for MiG21 I think
I made a thread a while ago about it. I was getting super bad FPS at airfields (fly not too bad) and just general bad performance. Maybe I'll look into it again.
