My 112th Tag is from my Lock On/IL2 days and the squadron is now defunct. I'm setting a Virtual Fighter Wing over at http://www.teamgamers.co.uk . Head over there and post. No requirments to join, just be cool and a into your flight sims :) Then later you can apply to join TGUK itself if you wish.

It will be in the MP server listing when its up. It might be up now, Sleem owns the server and has graciously allowed us to use it. It's 1855 hrs here. I'll be on in an hour. You dont have to get the mission, the server will download it for you. All you need to do is join TS, join the server. Thats it.

We will be using the Going Ugly server. It should be in the server list. I'll give the password in Teamspeak. As for the mission we'll use the DRAGONS JTAC Training Mission as that provides something for everyone. We can always vote on a mission later on. Teamspeak details are in my original post.

I will post up details asap!

I'm up for an organised game. I'd like to play a complete co-op mission at some point.

Joining a server is no different from starting a single player game really. If its an unpassworded server, join it, read the briefing and fly with your fellow pilots. It's a great way to meet new pilots and even learn a thing or two from them. Most people are friendly. You can choose to join the servers Teamspeak if you wish, but for me, I prefer to get to know people via the text chat first. You can usually find me on the GoingUgly server or the 74th Flying Tygers server (which I havent been on for a while, but will rectify that later). Feel free to add me on Steam if you have it and we'll go for a flight.

We need something like the Tornados JP233 :D

That'll do :D I was out of Mavericks and I was only going to use guns as a last resort. Lots of Manpads and IR SAMS in the target area. I just wanted to do as much damage as I could and get out using the terrain to mask my egress. I thought a CBU would do a fair amount of damage, especially since I wanted to destroy multiple static soft skinned targets.

Question, can the TGP be used to detect a buddies laser and therefore find their target? -
Thanks! Hmm, do I take the realistic route? :D

I was flying a mission last night where I wanted to fly in fairly low (around 800 ft) over the target and drop a CBU (I forget the variant). I wanted the CBU to disperse at around 300 ft to create quite a localised area of effect. But I couldnt workout how to change the HoF function from 500ft. How do I do this? I hit the chg set button but can't see how to change HoF? Thanks!

You're welcome to join Sunday Flight School with me and a few other pilots. We're not a squad as such just a community of like minded gamers/fliers :)

Last night I was playing a mission and I somehow managed to put the TGP in a mode where the aiming 'box' turned into a large white crosshair with the TGP angle indicator moving in a kind of 30 degree search pattern. Sorry for my vauge description, what is this mode? And how to I get out of it. I think it might be some kind of JTAC laser detection mode?

That video is from Fairford UK

I would include these assists in multiplayer, in the same way that labels are allowed in some missions. Have the options forced on or off depending on the mission design. I disagree that it would harm the learning process as having a hint to show you how to do something is not deterimental to learning. Learning by example or assisted learning works. I think that some people are protective of the pure nature of the simulation and look down upon assistance in anyway and think it may affect their game, when it won't. Having the options in game mode only would be utterly useless. Making the sim less intimidating can only serve to help bring new people in and not scare them off due to its complexity. Like I said, the additions would be purely visual to the player the options turned on (like labels are at the moment) and would not affect anyone else. It could also be forced off via the server options of mission design.

Yes in sim mode. Theres still the need for assists. You have to admit the learning curve is quite steep and so any OPTIONAL assists for the player would be welcomed, especially for training flights. This wouldn't make it arcadey for anyone since they have the option to have those on or off and no other player would see these. Then as the player learns they can turn them off. Since this is a cooperative game for the most part, anything to help must be welcomed. Also the assists are purely visual and do not affect systems or flight mechanics in anyway

Thanks. I saw a guide to the RWR symbology regarding the different types of SAM threat. Anyone have a link?

I don't consider myself a newbie to flight sims, it's been my choice of game type ever since Falcon 3.0. Even though DCS A10C is arguably the best flight sim ever produced and even though theres a wealth of information to read on the forums and via other media, I still think that there should be more help for new comers. I'd like to see more hints and on screen help for those that need it, which can be turned off easily from within options: 1. When ATC says you are cleared to Taxi to runway XX, a FSX style dotted line would help guide them to the right position. I have seen so many near misses and collisions because people are taking off from the wrong end of the runway. 2. When landing, some kind of inflight 'hologram' project at the correct side of the runway, indicating the correct end to land on. EF2000 had this ability and it was great. This can be switched off in options obviously. Or alternatively, ATC reminding the player that they are approaching from the wrong direction. At the moment they dont seem to care. 3. More choice over labels. Perhaps the following combinations: Friendly Aircraft Only, Friendly Ground Units Only, Enemy Aircraft Only, Enemy Ground Units Only, Wingmen Only, All. 4. When using the Auto Start up procedure, automatically move the view to the area that is being 'switched on' and highlight the switches so the user can learn. 5. A Tutor mode/First Person View. A player can allow another player to view his/her cockpit if they are having problems so to help guide them through procedures. I appreciate the sim is quite complex and theres a lot to learn, but I still think we could do more to help the newcomer.
