Don't really need a pilot, just some kind of snap view.
-
It would be awesome if information sent by in game messages were added to some kind of pilots kneepad automatically.
-
This isn't a mission building question... I've been playing a lot of single player and in certain situations theres a scripted even which shows a message in the top right part of the screen, ususally with co-ordinates of the next target or whatnot. Problem is, this message doesn't stay on screen very long so I don't have time to input the information into the CDU, is there a way to bring the message back up?

Startup question: AC generators
112th_Rossi replied to 33 309th_Hedgehog's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Hmm, I only switch on AC Gen when the engines are fully spooled up? Then I turn off APU Gen and the APU itself. Get a beeping tone until I switch off APU Gen though. Not sure if thats right? -
Think I might try and ILS approach tonight in thick fog and at night. Just for fun.

I am left handed too. For sims like 1946 I use a standard joystick with held in my left hand, which has a reassinable throttle on its base which can be switched to the right hand side. (Saitek Cyborg stick). This makes it much easier for those kinds of sims. For A10C I use the X52, which is just a standard left to right layout and I have no problems.

Ah cool. My car insurance runs out on that date. No need to renew.

Project 10 - DCS: A-10C Warthog Promo!

Wow. Thread necromancy! :D Agreed though, awesome movie. -
If there was a guns only battle between an A10C and say, a MiG 29, who would win? Surely the turn radius on an A10 is tighter and the low speeds would give it a maneuvrability advantage?
-
I didn't know the A10 had this feature!

IS it Possible to Slave Maverick to TGP SPI?
112th_Rossi replied to Alphamale's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
A10s can do SEAD but not that well imo. Stay away from medium/long range sams unless you can confidently take them on using terrain or other ways of masking your approach. -
IS it Possible to Slave Maverick to TGP SPI?
112th_Rossi replied to Alphamale's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Higher than you can fly. Well after looking it up, about 20k but that doesn't include its flight after its motor is burned out afaik. So I expect 30k ft. -

112th_Rossi replied to Alphamale's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I think you need to plan your attack a bit more carefully. Get out to 15 miles from the target. Use the TGP in Narrow/Wide mode to find the target you want. At about 10 miles you should be able to use Track mode to get an accurate fix on the target. Set it as your SPI. Set up your autopilot. Set it to path mode and arm it. Slew your maverick to the SPI using china hat forward long Roll in on the target, be at a decent hight, 10k is good. Set a slight descent, around 3 degrees. Set your autopilot on. This should hold the approach. Set your mav as SOI and attempt to lock using TMS up short. When locked, rifle. Dont worry if you cant distinguish the target through the mav seeker head, its not designed for that. RIFLE! -
IS it Possible to Slave Maverick to TGP SPI?

With a PT track from the TGP, the Mav is very accurate at picking out the correct target. But theres always a chance you could hit the wrong one due to terrain or if its a moving target etc. If its a SAM site, do you really care? Fire and GTFO! Then if you dont hit it first time, come back and try again. -

If you have your target on the TGP in PT mode, you can pretty much garantee that the mav will be looking at that. Mav to SOI TMS Up Short Fire. Thats all there is too it. If you want to hit more targets, I suggest setting your slew rate 2 on the mav, and before the attack, work out the approxmate position of you next target using the TGP. When you fire your first mav, slew in the direction of your next target to lock. Knowing your target area is essential to a good attack. Yes the mav seeker head isn't that great but it's not designed to be a reconaisance device. -

Read my post. Mav must be Sensor of Interest. TMS Up Short to aquire lock. Fury missed a stage out. -

When you've slewed the Mav seeker over the target you must set the Mav as SOI and TMS Up Short to aquire the lock. It might not happen immediately but if your SPI is accurate enough (with P T it is) it shoud lock at the 7 mile range at least. Also depends on the Maverick variant. D's tend to work best with their IR seeker. -
Hmm good point. Maybe it's a saftey thing? A TGP would certainly assist in a visual check of the target. I've never dropped a LGB in CCIP mode as I don't see the point. I would rather be as accurate as possible with the release point in CCRP. Infact, why is CCIP mode even available for LGB units?
-
Well stands to reason to launch a LGB you need a laser? Perhaps the arming mechanism is related to the proximity of the laser illumination?
-
Also, CCIP won't drop (afaik) if there is no CCIP solution. So if your flying straight and level at 15k, it won't drop as there is no impact solution. CCRP and SPI is the only way to go unless you use them as dumb bombs in a dive?
-
What GBU was it? 38s are GPS guided, 12s are laser guided. Edit. Sorry just read it was GBU 12... Hmm, you do have it selected on DSMS right ? ;) And master arm on?
-
Ok. Rossi's guide to buddy lasing: 1. Agree a laser code. 2. For the bomber, set the laser code on the bomb 3. For the laser, set the laser code on the TGP (via CNTL > L page) 4. The laser pilot finds a target. Marks it as his SPI. 5. Share that SPI with your bomber. Either by: Looking on TAD to see where his SPI is pointing to. Hooking your buddies aircraft and clicking Send. Setting the LSS code on the TGP to the same as your buddies laser code and setting the TGP to Laser Search Mode. 6. Once the bomber has the target, set it as SPI (for the bomber) 7. Select your laser guided bombs via DSMS 8. Select CCRP mode via Master Mode Select button 9. Flight toward SPI, straight and level. Watch the bomb fall line. When it drops, hold down the pickle button. Weapon should release when it passes through the circle. 10. Your buddy should lase the target at least 10 to 15 seconds before impact (the time of the impact is shown to on the left of the bombers HUD) 11. Splash one target. If you are using GPS guided munitions you must have full EGI alignment on the ground.

I thought it was a good Sci Fi movie with a few bits of American melodrama thrown in. The fight on the bridge was cool!

How do you snap to the radio panel like that?
