I would vote for the 'both' option if it existed. Lockon has got to be both. Ofcourse it is a game. We all play it for fun. We go head to head and at the end there is a winner and loser. A game it is. I don't think anyone would disagree. However it is a sim as well. It tries to simulate flying as good as it can, with all the restrictions it has. You can't say 'Its a game because it doesn't do this-and-that'. Like many before me said, a sim is only a sim because it can't do everything the real thing can. So ofcourse there are limitations to what a sim can do. If a sim could do everything then we would all be flying real sukhoi's and F15's. You just have to keep in mind that a simulator can be relatively simple like Lockon and very complex like the ones the military uses, and there's a whole lot of room in between. All sims are equal, but some are more equal then others. Ofcourse you can't use Lockon to properly train yourself to fly a real Su-27 into combat. However there are a ton of other things that you can teach yourself by flying lock-on. Maybe not the combat part, but how about flight basics.. instrument reading..

The 159th Regiment Operation blue flag
Invicta replied to pappavis's topic in Screenshots and Videos
The carrier is currently on-route to our active theatre of operations. Once it arrives we will ofcourse use it to full advantage. And Pappavis must have misplaced our fighter skin, which looks like this: See my signature for a close up :) -
You fly into the basked, pushing it towards the tanker. Because the hose is flexible it will bend and give you a couple of meters to work with. The trick is not to get too close to the tanker (you'll hit it and both go down as burning wrecks) and not get too far away. Doing this requires you to constantly 'play' with the throttle. What I try to do is, once I'm connected, pick part of the tanker, and try to keep it at the same position relative to the HUD or any other part of the cockpit. E.g. In the above screenshot, if I wanted to keep this possition behind the tanker, I would try to keep the most-left engine of the tanker behind the AoA indexer.

Once you know the tankers exact altitude, go 5 meters below that and alt-hold. Then slowly (!!!) close. Make very small throttle movements. Here's a screenshot from one of my hardest refuels: Good luck!

"Removed combat flaps position on F-15C and Su-33." I guess these planes don't have combat flaps positions in real life then?

I've tried both Lockon.ru mirrors, and the Jabog mirror, but every time I try to install the 1.11 patch I get the following message: "Error occured during installation. Error code is 2. Setup is not completed.", and then the installer quits. Anyone have any idea what I should do?

Start up your Track IR software and go to 'view -> tracking'. You should see a black screen and your 3 VE dots. Now just move your head like you would in game, and check if the 3 VE dots all stay green. If not then you could try moving/adjusting the tracker. Also, try to cover up the centre dot (the one that is one the Naturalpoint cap by default), I experienced that when you get close to the edge of tracking that TIR can mix up the centre dot with one of the VE dots. Covering the centre dot elliminates that problem. Give it a try and you should be fine.

1. Is the VE really necessary? Yes or no. Seems like "No". No (see below) 2. Does LOMAC support 6 full DOF in 1.1 FC? No. Lockon 1.1 supports pitch, yaw and zoom. HOWEVER..... Lockon 1.2 will support 6 full DOF at least for the KA50. For the jets you won't need VE but if you intent to fly the chopper I would suggest you buy it. If you are gonna fly the KA50 I suggest you buy the VE set now and save you the costs of additional shipment, and take advantage of the zoom option in 1.1 (Which you won't get without VE). I myself did get TIR3 Pro (with VE) and I don't know how I could ever fly without it. Get TIR3 Pro, and get VE if you want to use it to its fullest, for many years to come.

Great movie! Too bad the movie (and specially the music) stopped so suddenly. Why not fade that out next time :D Other than that, really nice.
