  1. Aaarghh Still no go. I've unwrite-protected the LOON folder. And everything seemed dandy on the folder-level. But LOON still doesn't let me change anything. So problem persists :-(
  2. Hi, oh wizards in the tech corner I'm no novice in either Lock-on or WinXP - but I need some help, that the search-function wont give and my feeble brain wont give. Since the patch - which is nice and working like a charm - I can't change any settings except my grapichs-setting. For example new default settings is something like this: Missile-effectiveness-slider is all to the left - no external views on, no labels, no mapview - no nothing. When I change the setting to my preference, I press "save" to custom (not ace) (global setting is on) and then press OK in the bottom. I do a test flight and... no labels, no external views. I look in Options and... All is back to (un)normal. I think: "AHA. I guess the settingfiles are writeprotected, simple enough" - shut down LOON - and correct - the write protection box is ticked on the LOON folder. I un-tick - press apply and refresh... and STILL ticked. Actually the whole C-drive is unchangeable writeprotected. As I write, I begin to think this is prbly an XP-error ;-) - but the only install I've done in three days is the 1.11. Which to me still seems unlogical that the 1.11 can change something strictly XP? Have any of you experienced the same probl? And is there a workaround to unprotect the c-drive (am googling it right now) Thx in advance. Depede
  3. Yeah, it would be a dream come true for me to fly in a MiG-29 too. Damn, you're the man of the day. But enough of that plane talk. That friendly Russian guide? She sure looks friendly... I want to go to MAKS too. But Pregnant Girlfriend says "NO! You just play with your computerbuddies in the bedroom on that Planelobby or whatever. No Russian guides for you, flyboy". And here am I - In Denmark - and NOT in Russia ;)
  4. There is a better looking CBU-97 skin at http://www.lomacfiles.com. Look under 1.02/1.1-files under skins (I think) I just dl'ed it yesterday. The skin looks nicer on the plane, but when the fins fold out, they don't align with the bombfuselage. I can live with that. The very nice skins in the gallery is from the 1.2.
  5. To recap: Thanx, golfsierra2 and others helpful souls. Since we hadn't heard otherwise, we can assume that flame-out-"handling" isn't completely correct in LOMAC-planes. Of course not everything has to be realistic, but if this were possible to implement in later versions of LOMAC, I would for one really appreciate it :)
  6. I love to fly the Russian birds, primarily the MiG-29. In some of my quests to be the highest/fastest/stupidest bird (yeah, I'm 34 but still playing like a kid), I deliberately run out of fuel in 30.000 ft in the MiG. Then of course the engine is flaming out and I try to find the nearest airport and glide to a landing - it's hard but not impossible. I'm currently reading "Rolling Thunder" by Mark Berent, and it starts with an F100D Super Sabre pilot doing the same thing (during the Vietnam war in 1965) - flameout in 6.000 ft and gliding in. The book describes how he has to point the nose downwards and do a fast decent to keep the turbine fans turning to keep power on both the avionics and the hydraulic system - so he can steer the plane and extend the gear. But that was in 1965... Question: When I experience flameouts - there's still power on the plane - I can use avionics/gear/flaps and have complete control - all the way down. Is that realistic behaviour of the RL-Lomac-planes? If not - it could be a fun aspect to implement in a later version (Lomac 2.0)
  7. ... And that is one cool band.
  8. I just took the plunge and bought the HOTAS Cougar over the net last night. And after skimming the insanely extensive information on Frugals Cougar site, I almost regretted the buy. The impression is, that the Cougar need to be hardware modified, before it is of any use. Is that really so? Can the LockOn community help me so I can be prepared to avoid mistakes in the setup process when the Cougar arrives in a week or so? Questions What hardware issues needs to be adressed at once? How can i setup the controls best for 1.1, so I don't need the keyboard too much? Can I make setups for diffent planes? (I am currently tumbling in the 'T', and still enjoying the '29S', though I am spending more and more hours in the 27.) Is there any hidden secrets about the Cougar that will make me the über-pilot on HL? Thanx in advance to you all :)
  9. As always... TekaTeka, you are truly the best :-)
  10. Hehe*2 Sitting very late at work (writing the seventh and last article today - NOT kiddin') and that was a goddamn hilarious break for me. Thanx :)
  11. Yeah, most definately buying! At once! And RuggButt, on a more personal note. The 9800XT is working flawlessly, so you just beware on HL. I WILL be laughing in a Danish megalomanicaly way, when your lawn dart has tasted some of my "Evil Empire Candles" ;-) Megalomaniac - "A psychopathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, or omnipotence. Often found in the people of Denmark - the tiny hat on top of Europe."
  12. Good and straight answer, SwingK!!!
  13. Wags: Download and Visa - And I can't wait No, really. I can't wait. Give it to me. Now. Nono. Now!
