OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
DirtyMike0330 replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
I would like someone else to try this so I know I am not losing my mind, because it happens to me 100% of the time with OpenXR and I feel like it is a bug: While in flight, try to save any of your key binding profiles through the "adjust controls" menu. As soon as you hit OK in the renaming screen, the game should freeze. Not a huge deal, it just sucks when you figure out a last 2nd key addition/modification and try to adjust it on the fly! -

OpenXR Guide - Deprecated - This time for real (▀̿Ĺ̯▀̿ ̿)
DirtyMike0330 replied to nikoel's topic in Virtual Reality
Can anyone with a 3090 and G2 recommend some settings for the OpenXR Toolkit? I'm dipping my toes into this and currently just have OpenXR with reprojection but have not added toolkit into the mix yet. Also, same question for anyone who has added the OpenXR compliant 3Dmigoto into the mix. I like the "less is more" approach, but if there are some basics to turn on with the aforementioned add-ons that helps more than it hurts, I'm curious what folks with similar setups are using. -

@nikoel "If you get black screens during play try adding this line into OpenComposite.ini 'enableLayers=false'" I am only seeing flashes to black during the loading screen, not during actual flight. Is that what this is referring to as well or should I just ignore this? -
VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
DirtyMike0330 replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
In regards to the "rebuild" time when you are first loading DCS after installing these shaders: 1. Do I have to run in 2D and VR separately, or can I just turn the game on in 2D and go do something else for awhile, without having to worry about a subsequent delay again when I run in VR? 2. Is there a rebuild time for each map? -

Is it worth using the beta versions of WMR for Steam and SteamVR? Are they generally stable with DCS or is it prone to causing issues? -
I have recently modified my VM running a dedicated server with two instances to: 1. Restart the server every 8 hours, utilizing windows task scheduler to kill DCS and a restart batch file to turn the server back on 2. Added server restart warnings in the missions themselves This is all working fine, however, when the server restarts, the same mission from the mission list loads every time. I know you can manually run a different mission or allow folks to change missions via slmod, but this then negates the 30 min, 15 min, 5 min warnings in the missions themselves. Does anyone know how to get DCS to load a mission at random, out of the mission list, when the server boots up?

In case anyone else has this issue, the problem was the part of the manual instructing me to set the hotkey threshold to 100ms, as pictured. Putting it back to the default of 700ms fixed everything and it works fine now.
-
Has anyone gotten this to work recently or is aware if the procedure is different than what is currently listed in the manual? I set this up today, following the manual word for word, and it simply will not work. I short press, give a command, short press again and nothing happens. The long press works fine and I am heard on SRS, but am unable to communicate with AI/Vaicom.

And, assuming you have the G2, I have heard that reducing the native rate down to 60hz is not a pleasant experience in and of itself. -

And that's fine, at least you're admitting that it is stuttering and you can simply stomach it (I wish I could). It's the "OMG SO SMOOTH" nonsense spread around this immensely long thread that is annoying lol -

I can't take anyone seriously that says they are running with no motion reprojection, getting somewhere in the 50-80 fps range, and is somehow "buttery smooth". I just don't think it is possible. Looking straight ahead? Sure. Looking 3/9? No way. It visibly stutters 3/9 without MR, which is the opposite of smooth. -
This had never once crossed my mind... I also use the VR cover with the G2- would you say that modifying that file is basically a must if using that mod? Like, does it enhance the frankenmod/VR cover at all or is it purely to be used if you're having an issue with it?

I'm more inclined to believe that user has issues (a year ago) because they are trying to push a G2 and DCS with a Ryzen 3600, 2070 and 16gb RAM. They don't even seem to realize they are talking about motion reprojection when their fps "mysteriously" goes from 90fps to 45fps. Sometimes (a lot of times) the issue is user error. This super long thread is rife with it. -

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this (or I could just have missed it in this extensive thread) but I tried this and then went back to SteamVR for stability issues. I was getting CTDs when: 1. Trying to change any key bindings while in a module. Would freeze every time I hit save 2. Random and intermittent CTDs that never happened (or happen) on SteamVR Going back to SteamVR alleviated both of those aforementioned issues. That being said, I am about to do a clean upgrade from Win10 to Win11, mostly out of boredom, and may try this again with a fresh install. But I had done a repair and clean beforehand, so I'm not sure what would have been causing those issues anyway. -
Reshade 6.0 gets native support for OpenXr
DirtyMike0330 replied to speed-of-heat's topic in Virtual Reality
"I'd ditch VRTK and try SMAA" Do you mean ditch VRPerf kit, which is the fholger one, or VRTK, which is the one inside Reshade? -
I think it has been established that those of us who are having issues with this are in VR- 2D and TrackIR appear unaffected based on the comments, unless I missed one. So linking a Wags video, in which he boresights in 2D, doesn't really help here. Again, the issue isn't "what is the proper procedure", the issue is what is actually working and what isn't.

Reshade 6.0 gets native support for OpenXr
DirtyMike0330 replied to speed-of-heat's topic in Virtual Reality
So, not sure if I have utilized all the mods properly, in terms of not conflicting or stepping on each other's toes, but I did a complete clean and repair of DCS and then added: 1. Reshade 5.2, utilizing: Lumasharp at 1.5 Vibrance at default VRToolkit at default with sharpening disabled 2. Fholgers VRPerfkit v3.0 with CAS 8.0 render, 0.0 sharpening, .07 radius 3. Simplex shaders 4. Game settings as shown in attached screenshot SteamVR 100%, CRM 100% On a low level F18 free flight instant mission (Caucasus), I got the following without motion smoothing: fpsVR Report: App: DCS HMD: HP Reverb Virtual Reality Headset G20 (90.001 Hz, IPD 65.2) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 (30.0.15.1215, Tavg 55.3, Tmax 61) CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor (Tavg 68.9, Tmax 80) Delivered fps: 83.91 Duration: 11.2min. (HMD driver recommended: 3157x3088) On a low level F18 free flight instant mission (Caucasus), I got the following with motion smoothing: fpsVR Report: App: DCS HMD: HP Reverb Virtual Reality Headset G20 (90.001 Hz, IPD 65.2) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 (30.0.15.1215, Tavg 54.9, Tmax 61) CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor (Tavg 70.4, Tmax 80) Delivered fps: 44.78 Duration: 2.2min. SteamVR SS: 100% Render resolution per eye: 3156x3088(by SteamVR settings, Max.) (HMD driver recommended: 3157x3088) Everything looked good to me, I'm not sure if my combination of mods conflict with each other or not, or if there is anything I should be setting differently, I'd certainly appreciate any input. I also probably didn't keep the testing parameters tight enough, but it was probably the best performance I've seen with DCS in VR to be honest. With motion smoothing on, I don't think my GPU or CPU frame times jumped past 14ms at any point, even when I was on the deck. So, yeah, I don't know if it is Reshade, one of the other mods, or all of them combined, but I am generally happy with the numbers at this point. -

Does the new release of VRPERFKIT from Folger negate the need for the forked version from cedriclmenard/vrperfkit: VR Performance Toolkit (github.com) now? -
It's a lot of data but it has helped me for sure! It helps that I have similar specs to the OP, but it is some sound advice for everyone regardless.
