  1. Okay, got it to work. I installed 8.12 vista driver (manually, first removed catalyst drivers, then through the device manager, automatic installation won't work). Now I have more or less usable GUI, though it does flicker when in full screen and when I'm moving the mouse around. So I guess it's Catalyst after all... zaelu, I also lost the activation, same thing here bro... ah what can you do, you pay for not paying attention... EDIT: Installed the Win 7 preview Catalyst - and no change (but the GUI is not white anymore). And the GUI flickering gets worse if I turn off Aero! Plain weirdness. Catalysts are flaky, guess I'll be buying nVidia next... @Lobo - thx for the link, Jesse's util works like a charm!
  2. As a budding CPL/IFR pilot myself, I'm amazed to see the job that Eagle did on RNAV and ADF modelling, as well as on the avionics and turbine engine management. Such a shame I won't be able to put much of that to work in real life :). Otherwise I'm enjoying it greatly!
  3. Same here. I guess it's the vid drivers, I've tried 8.12 for Vista, ATI Win 7 beta and the ones that came through the Windows Update. Same thing. Tried disabling the Aero (both through the shortcut options and manually) - same thing. The game itself runs great otherwise, and the Multiplayer GUI works well. Weird, but my instinct tells me it's ATI's fault, their drivers are flaky as hell. Some specs: C2Duo something something (round 2GHz) R4850 512MB 4GB DDR2 800 all on Win 7 Beta 7000 etc. Oh, and can somebody tell me shortly how to set the process affinity so as to increase the FPS? Thanks in advance :).
  4. Off the top of my head, J-35 Draken has been sold to Austria, Denmark and Finland. I can't recall any Viggen sales though, and Austria also used Tunnans.
  5. The NATO-compatible export version is made in cooperation with BAE Systems, who handle all the NATO-exclusive equipment. But for Venezuela it wouldn't be an option I guess.
  6. Wrong--sold to Czech Republic, Hungary and South Africa already.
  7. Technically, spring season on Northern Hemisphere ends on June 22. Therefore there's still time to make that "Spring 2006" release :D.
  8. Not to mention that with 8 or 24 pipelines you still get 30 FPS average with LOMAC :-|. Truly amazing feat for a graphics engine I must say...
  9. Useless and snide... If you have nothing constructive to add, please spare me from your sarcasm. Anyway, thanks everybody (well almost everybody) for constructive input, I guess I'll wait and see if 1.2 ships without SF. If it does, I'll buy it, if it doesn't, oh well, this is not the only flight sim out there.
  10. The original release of LOMAC runs fine on my computer, however it doesn't load another application and install a virtual device that is documented to be causing problems. Why do I buy any software? Well, I don't buy any that installs additional faulty software along with it. Mind you, I have bought HL2 online through Steam, so I wouldn't have any problem with such a solution in general.
  11. Thx again for your answer Tharos. I haven't come in to discuss SF, but as you tacitly admit it, the problems do exist. The fact that they're "worked on" does not change a thing. I would rather pay my money for something that works without those problems. I hope 1.2 will be sold without SF. Also, if you think that it's bullet proof, think again. Don't know about 1.1, but other SF "protected" games have been pirated.
  12. Tharos, thanks for a quick response. I'm afraid I'm not buying anything with Starforce in it, problems or no problems, it's the concept that bugs me. I have another question--does Russian version use Starforce too? Because I would rather use the Russian version than have SF installed on my system.
  13. I have read through a lot of threads, but i think I've missed a couple of things. Therefore I have several questions, forgive me for asking if these have been answered already: 1. As both d/l and CD version of 1.1 include Starforce--what about LO: Gold, does it include Starforce too? 2. Will 1.2 be available for free or will it be paid-for? In the latter case, will it include Starforce? 3. Also, will 1.2 include 1.1 and LO:MAC, or will it be just an add-on? 4. In 1.1 CD version, does Starforce work like normal CD protection, or does it install itself as a virtual device on your system and performs its nasty stuff? I own LO: MAC and have been very much looking forward to 1.1 but didn't buy it in the end, first because of PayPal thing and then because of Starforce.
  14. If I understand correctly, you can use this thing to connect your analog "controllers" to--basically just build your mechanical input devices, slap some pots and buttons on them and rock on from that point? However, if you're trying to connect some more sophisticated controllers to it (like ready made HOTAS's), how do you do it?
  15. I can't pay through Pay Pal at all, because it's not supported in my country. And I don't live in CIS either. So what do I do?
  16. F-18 --C? D? Anyway, I chose Ka-50 because: --there is no decent helo sim on the market --avionics are easier to implement --Boeing would harass ED for royalties if they chose to do the F-18, just like Northrop-Grumman did to Oleg Maddox. Basically, introducing F-18 into the game would be a major PITA and could easily never happen. That's why it's realistic to look forward to Ka-50, and I do.
  17. BTW, was Visa option confirmed? That's the only option for me, as Pay Pal does not operate in my country and I do not live in the CIS...
  18. Visa download, PayPal does not work in my country. I have Master too.
