  1. Funny how they didn't even bother with Soviet fighters - it's just a generic "Russian fighter" and off you go :).
  2. I've voted don't care (because I have music turned off) but now I've listened to it it sounds good. BTW, while we're at it, shouldn't we have German radio calls with it too? Would make sense to do them now, because DCS:WWII will need them anyway...
  3. I have the Pony already, so Spit and Dora for me :).
  4. The T, TM or SM - any of those would do.
  5. Ja, fully agreed - how hard iz it to learn a little bit of Deutsch :D.
  6. I've installed a manufacturer's utility for my graphics card (Gigabyte something something) and set the fan RPM to manual (it lets you set up step increases for fan speed based on GPU temperature). I've played for about an hour yesterday and no problems so far. I did notice that the fan was really sluggish on auto in idle - maybe the problem is in GPU switching fan speeds back and forth based on 2D-3D transitions (that happen quite a lot in DCS - launcher, 3D part of the sim, than launcher back again, than F10 map view, etc...), and than it just misses the switch to higher RPM at some point...
  7. I guess it *is* ADF, that thing is as simple as it gets, hasn't evolved one bit since WWII... and the German one pretty much looks the same too (Soviet one is "horizontal", German is "vertical" but superimposed over gyro-compass, sort of primitive HSI...). The gage in the cockpit is an added bonus, so to say. BTW, Q-calls, that's ADF too - you have that in DCS already...
  8. I've upgraded to that same GPU (I think even the same card) and have the exact same thing happening. I've turned off hyperthreading in BIOS and the frequency of freezes decreased, but they're still there.
  9. After a long pause I've been flying the Mustang a lot this week and (of course) got very frustrated with bombing missions. Now, one thing that surprised me quite a bit is that we don't have bomb fuze delay at all - yet the AN-M64 bombs we have in the sim were surely able to carry delayed fuses (and I'm not talking short delay only - you've had very short delays (~0.1 sec), short delays (4-5 sec, 15-18 sec) and even very long delay (up to 11 hours, booby-trapped). (source - here: http://www.lexpev.nl/downloads/bombfuzedata1945.pdf). For practical reasons, I don't thing the first or third option would be useful in the sim, but I for one would love to see the second option introduced. A second issue is that the current arming process modelling is unrealistic: you arm the bombs and presto, they're armed - you drop them from 15 feet altitude and boom, off they go (and take you along). In the document I referenced you'll find that each of the bombs had a minimum travel altitude it needed to be released from, for the fuze to actually arm after release (little prop in the nose or tail spinning, you know the drill), and of course that altitude also depended on the speed you're travelling (each fuze has its own graph). Now, again, modelling that precisely would probably be an overkill, but let's say if we have a simple logic whereby each bomb will need to be airborne for a given period of time to actually be armed on impact that would be much more realistic than what we have now. Finally, fratricide - why do I always get fratricide when I kill myself with ordnance? Yes, I should be punished for being dumb but suicide is not fratricide, and I resent having my stats annihilated because of that :).
  10. Apparently G-2 Wikipedia says: G-2/R1: Long-range fighter-bomber. It carried a bomb up to 500 kg (1,100 lb) under the fuselage and had a modified fuel system with underwing fittings for a 300 L (80 US gal) drop tank. As a standard Bf 109G had not enough ground clearance to carry a 500 kg bomb, a jettisonable auxiliary undercarriage was added just aft of the cockpit.[62] The prototype was the FiSk 199. No production known.
  11. No. 312 (Czechoslovak) Virtual Squadron RAF. We're an old Il-2 Sturmovik squadron, now we're flying BoS, CloD and RoF, looking forward to DCS:WWII. Here's a link to our webpage: http://www.312raf.com
  12. Thanks for the advice Lucky - contacted them, and they'll sell me the part(s) for EUR 17.50 with shipping. They were quite quick to respond, and generally very expedient - very good service I'd say.
  13. I had (and have :() the same thing - opened it and there were three wires severed. Actually it started with that damn ring delaminating and me having to open the stick to put it back in. And had to do it again - but in the process must've pinched the wires. I did repair the wires (some soldering was involved) but one of the wires gave way again. Now I could get back to it with a soldering iron but frankly I'm a bit tired of all the shenanigans, and as one of my old high-school teachers said - never repair a wire, replace it. So I thought about asking does anyone know what's the name and type of that often-pinched wire that connects the stick connector with the stick motherboard? I'd either want to buy a replacement or at least buy the wire and connector and make a replacement.
  14. I agree wholeheartedly, +1
  15. You have to press and hold the fire button for a little while.
  16. This is a known issue and has been there forever. It's hard to get a screenshot, because the dots (polka dots rather) appear on ground and especially building textures but flicker rather than just stay there, with HDR on.
  17. You need to install A-10C and Ka-50 modules "on top" of your DCS: World install. Open DCS: World, click on Module Manager and install A-10C and Ka-50 modules from there.
  18. Not specifically in the Su-33 campaign (haven't played that one) but in MiG-29S or F-15C you have some missions that are clearly poorly balanced or plain undoable, because they were created before some updates have changed the game's behavior. Case in point - MiG-29S mission number 2 relies on a Su-25T strike destroying a SA-11 site - but they never engage, just fly over there and return. I had to examine what the trigger was, then make the Su-25s attack the SA-11 site - and voila! Another example - mission number 4 (I think) where you scramble to intercept 16-airplane strike package with your wingman and two other pairs of MiG-29S. You'd think that fending off the strike would be enough - wrong, it doesn't even matter. The condition is that all strike aircraft need to be destroyed. So in one of the attempts, 15 out of 16 enemy airplanes were shot down, no bombs fell on the base, only one crippled F-4 made it home - and here we go again... This is a joke - in real life, if you faced such overwhelming odds, and had 3-4 kills, and prevented the strike and made it back alive you'd be made Hero of the Russian Federation and promoted. F-15C - I won't even waste time on this one, almost every mission after the first one has you fighting the whole Russian airforce with a semi-competent wingman, and missiles that have a kill ratio of 10%. The scramble mission takes the cake though - the strike reaches your airbase approximately 5 minutes after you start cold from the ramp. So my advice to you - try finding what the condition is for successfully finishing the mission, then either try to fulfill it, or change it to something more realistic. In general, I think the campaigns need to be built more carefully, maybe even forking like Su-25T is.
  19. +1 - Su-33 is an incredibly fun plane to fly. Given the high degree of commonality with Su-27, I don't see how the upgrades to cockpit, FM or systems could be hard to do for it (I understand that 3D model might be a different story though...).
  20. I think I have a couple of new ones: - SA-11 SR not working (doesn't show on RWR, Phantasmagoria, SA-11s fire only on relatively short range when TELAR radar takes over) - AI command "Search and Destroy in Zone" not working. - SEAD targets prioritization and weapon choice not working. - AI command "Attack Group" excludes ARMs from being used (AI attacks a SAM battery with guided and unguided munitions, but not ARMs). As a general comment, AI SEAD routines should be given a bit more attention - as it stands now, SEAD enroute task will make an AI engage every single piece of AAA along the way, and it will use guns even in completely suicidal situations. However, with SEAD task turned off, AI will never use ARMs. This should be taken care of with target prioritization, but alas it doesn't work... 21. After using Saitek from X-36 onwards, it did feel a tiny bit stiffer at first, but I got used to it quickly. X-45 was stiff too, but it was also hard to move from 0 position (due to ridiculous construction) and the base wasn't heavy enough. With Warthog I don't have either of these problems.
  22. Flying DCS: A-10C with the Warthog just feels natural to me. And beyond that it's an excellent piece of equipment.
  23. Out of the box, and using HOTAS and Track IR - flying an A-10C in DCS is a much, much more satisfying flying experience than whatever you do in unmodified X-Plane. I've bought both X-Plane 9 and 10, and frankly tweaking vs. flying ratio there is approximately 2:1 for me... and still it can be really annoying. The fact that A-10C comes with mostly pre-configured controls on a Warthog HOTAS is very appealing, plus the fact that it works perfectly with TIR and a clickable 3D cockpit is also a great big plus.
  24. Come on, we're not flying in the coffin corner, and seldom have to fly straight and level for a long time... Trim it out properly, and there you go.
