  1. Happy Holidays to everyone! May 20025 bring you everything you wish for and love. -R
  2. Not sure if this has been posted anywhere before...apologies if so. WARNING to all users of a Windows Mixed Reality headset such as HP Reverb G2. Installing the latest Windows 11 24H2 update will brick your VR device and deprecate the WMR app on your pc. This will also mean your WMR headset will NOT work in Steam VR, and of course in DCS. You should disable Windows automatic updates in order to prevent this from happening. Of course, this also has other repercussions so you should do your research. ref: Windows 11 No Longer Supports Microsoft's Windows VR Headsets Following October Update (roadtovr.com)
  3. Thanks BIGNEWY, so it turns out the problem was, apparently I had two accounts registered with DCS and all of my modules, scenery, missions, etc. were bound to an account that I don't use and forgot I even had. Sigh....problem sorted now.
  4. I don't know if this is the "only me" scenario, but this morning I too got the 403 error when accessing DCS via Steam (FYI - this is the ONLY way I play DCS - via Steam). However, I never did bind my licensing to DCS standalone. I have verified this be accessing my DCS account profile, and it is showing as unbound. What happens now please?
  5. VR in MT works perfect for me and others. It's probably something in your system, sorry.
  6. There is a known problem with the latest release of SteamVR - have you tried to enroll in the beta program within SteamVR that will install new runtime libraries? This fixed similar problems for me. In fact, I found this solution somewhere else in these forums...
  7. Just a thought, but for those of you encountering the stuttering issues, are you running DCS from Steam? There was a recent Steam VR update that is causing big problems in all VR titles, the fix is to run the beta version of Steam VR and that has fixed a lot of performance issues for many.
  8. I've seen many, MANY posts regarding VR performance. Some from users with systems that should handle VR just fine (even with the AH-64D). This is a good way to baseline your system performance. It could be we are experiencing a coding bug, but I recommend you start with this site; download their free utility and see how your system compares with thousands of others with the exact same PC components as you. If you score below, or way below expected performance benchmarks in any particular area such as CPU, video, ram, ssd (not too needed for VR, but useful to know to load DCS or other real world apps), etc. then you know where to start to begin troubleshooting: Home - UserBenchmark Look near the top for the free download to begin your system benchmark. For anyone curious, you can see my system results here: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON (MS-7B17) Performance Results - UserBenchmark Note that my CPU is doing well, graphics card is doing really well, so is RAM, but my SSDs are not, but that is not a big factor in VR rendering. I have great performance in almost all modules, except for the Apache, however turning Textures down to medium gave me back good performance. My system specs for reference: I9-9900K MSI Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon MB 32GB DDR4 3200 ram (XMP enabled) EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080 (10GB) Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe M.2 SSD 2TB (Note: performing way below expectations) Adata SX8100NP 2TB (Note: performing way below expectations) I'm going to see if I can't get my SSDs to perform better in the meantime, but I doubt that will increase FPS in VR much. That being said, I get pretty good VR performance using HP Reverb G2 headset in the Apache. Good luck!
  9. So. I've been playing DCS for years...and as such, I've built my stats within the game appropriately, and carefully (A/G kills, A/A kills, medals, etc.) As with any module, I've been taking extra time to learn the Apache....I'm starting solely in the pilot seat and I've got the systems, gun, and rockets down...now I'm working on the Hellfires. But last night I got greedy...I decided that all George has been doing up to this point is enjoying the ride, sightseeing, and laughing at me (I know he does!). Hey, he needed to start earning his paycheck, so I assigned my hat switch to the AI menu functions. Time to get real, George! Queue up the Syria target range quick mission, and I start by destroying targets with the gun and rockets....but by this time I'm once again growing bitter for doing all the work, so I start using George for the Hellfires. "Slaved...unslaved, engaging" he says....trying to get him to fire on a target. It was, shall I say, literally "hit or miss". I know - I just need practice, so I finally decide to return to base. As I'm approaching about 4 miles out, I'm fiddling with AI commands, trying to remember what I did right when a HellFire actually hit something made of metal instead of the forest floor....all of a sudden, George says "Engaging". "Hm", I think, "that's weird...". I start moving my hat switch again and soon enough, ol' Georgie says "Firing" and away goes a Hellfire - took a wicked curve-ball trajectory too. It destroyed a jeep on the ground - direct hit! Sweet - HIGH FIVE!!! "I'll have to remember just what I did there, since that worked" I said to myself smugly. By now maybe some of you can guess where this is going. I land, feeling all cocky and start the mission debrief...CRAP! It turns out, I've just committed fratricide. DAMMIT! I lost all my precious stats. Question - is it worth it to hire a lawyer to lobby that it was in fact George, and not me, who fired the wayward HellFire, destroying government property purchased with our hard earned tax dollars? That it is George, and NOT me, who should be headed to a court martial? I think I have a case here. Hell, I don't think anyone was even in the jeep...at least, I really hope not. Now in all seriousness, while this actually happened...it doesn't matter, because I've been enjoying this amazing module in all its VR glory. Well done DCS!!!!
  10. I mean, maybe you already know this, but you can use your mouse wheel to zoom in or out while in external view, even in VR.....
  11. I have not, but when I had MSAA 4x + SSAA x1.5 AND Steam VR at 100 it was a slide show. This seems to have resulted in a blended setting that produces excellent results in every module with excellent clarity.

Thanks Baldrick33, do you mean the lenses are optimized for the Reverb G2 ver 2? I will try the higher settings later tonight, but as of right now I don't see how they can get any better than what I have set to currently - I mean, I can see everything in super crisp resolution....but hey - I'm always learning something new every day.

Question, but why are you running at anything above 2160 x 2160 per eye resolution when that is the max for the HP Reverb G2? I didn't think doing so would result in any improved clarity....? Here is a link to a post I made with my global settings fwiw (scroll down to post #13):
  14. Hello all, I started a separate thread on my VR performance having not seen this one. Long and short, I had great VR performance with the Apache until I loaded the Syria map - then it dropped to a slideshow. I fixed that by reducing textures from High to Medium, however since many people seem to have varying degrees of issues, I took the time to share my global settings in the hope it may help some people (Nvidia Control Panel, Steam VR and DCS). You can find my settings in this thread, here. Note that some settings are proprietary to my VR headset, which is the HP Reverb G2. Also, my settings are not in my first post, but rather you will have to scroll down to post # 13 to see them. Again, hope this helps.
  15. OK, as I mentioned earlier, here are all my settings, from the Nivida panel to Steam VR to within DCS. A few items first. My config basics: Intel I9-9900K (not hard overclocked, but set to burst automatically), Win10 latest build, 32GB ram, 2TB nvme m.2 HD, EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra, HP Reverb G2 VR, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS. I play DCS in VR exclusively, and pretty much have never run into a performance issue until the AH-64D, but again this is an "Early Access" release and will sure to receive further optimizations. Otherwise, everything runs great in VR and just recently, I dropped the DCS texture setting from High to Medium and that has resulted in smooth VR gameplay again! My global graphics settings as follows for Nvidia Control Panel (note these are the specific application settings for DCS), Steam VR and DCS. I hope these settings help someone out there with their VR performance issues - the Apache in VR is next level!!! (NOTE: some of these settings are unique to the HP Reverb G2)
  16. Hello everyone, I appreciate the continued dialogue on this matter from everyone. Couple things: 1. I made one small change (at least for my system and settings) that resulted in significantly better performance in VR, even in Syria: I changed my texture settings from high to medium. As others have reported, this made a huge difference and now I can fly with steady and smooth fps. I was worried I might notice a big degradation in the visual experience but to my surprise, I barely noticed. I would suggest for anyone having performance issues to try this first. 2. I keep reminding myself that the AH-64D is an "early release" product, so of course it is going to need some optimizing and we need to realize and expect that. Later today, I'm hoping to take screenshots of all my settings, from the Nvidia control panel to Steam VR to DCS settings and post them here in the hope it will help others...it's complex and doesn't help that it's not a one-stop shop where you make your initial settings, but rather have to go to different places to dial everything in.
  17. Hi, thanks for your response. Yes, those are my current settings. As I mentioned, VR performance is great in Caucus, but abysmal in Syria. I've now seen other posts from users stating the same thing.
  18. Hello all, I have been immensely enjoying the AH-64D in VR - talk about being made for each other! However, up until today I had always been going into Instant Action and launching the Warm start on the runway in the Caucaus map. Performance has been amazing. My specs: Win10, latest build, Intel I9-9900K 32GB RAM, EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra GPU, 2TB m.2 SSD, HP Reverb G2 running in Steam (graphics settings on high). Today, I went to the range mission in Syria and the VR was almost frame by frame, even sitting there on the runway before takeoff - no changes on my end other than the location. I went back to the Caucaus map and performance was great (just lacks the ground targets). Anyone else? I know there was a long VR thread, - I looked but couldn't find where it went. Apologies if this is in the wrong section....
  19. For example....the recoil from firing the chain gun pitches the helicopter off its flight path ever so slightly - amazing. Also love the cabin shake when the gun is firing. Pure awesomeness ED!
  20. Thanks for this info. But anyways, it probably drives the developers nuts when someone brings up something in the pipeline rather than focusing on what is in hand, or about to be released. So, again apologies if I've riled any feathers with the mystery chopper question. Back on topic - thank you to ED for making the best combat sim in the world, and the AH-64D will undoubtedly set a new benchmark in simulation add-ons. My thanks for the incredible work by everyone involved!
  21. Hm....according to Wags today on the Air Combat Sim Podcast - Episode #25 on YouTube, there is another helicopter in development at the moment (no, not the AH-64D Apache) but it is secret. Maybe this is already known, but it was news to me. So, may I be the first to ask - "When is the release date"? Just kidding, of course. But anyone have a clue what the next chopper might be? (Admins, - I know this is the AH-64D thread, so apologies if this isn't the right landing spot for this topic).
