  1. That's great news, as someone who has become hooked on flying VR in DCS any ways to boost performance and maximize hardware is appreciated.
  2. I'd like to introduce Spearhead Gaming's recently reformed Fighter Strike Squadron 132 (VFA-132) Privateers, Callsign Pirate, supported by servers provided by Joint Special Forces. VFA-132 offers two public servers open to anyone in the DCS community to come by and fly with us for a modern PvE experience as we cycle through a number of missions. For those interested in a casual milsim experience VFA-132, while primarily an F/A-18 wing, is now recruiting for all modern airframes to participate in structured trainings and weekly missions which will follow a developed SOP that will focus on realism and play-ability. The VFA-132 history can be found here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VFA-132?wprov=sfla1 The current server information is below and please feel free to drop by the Spearhead Discord to get up to date server status info, track your stats, hang out, or participate in the milsim unit(coming soonTM, like 2 weeks soon), or even help contribute to mission and campaign design. Both servers also will be cycling between missions, especially Server 2, which will have training setups. If you don't find them by name, search by IP https://discord.gg/6T7RacG5Vy Server 1 Name: VFA-132 Privateers Public - Modern PvE IP: 64.35.206.67:10308 Mission: Operation_Scarlet_Dawn Pass: (no password) Version: 2.9.1.48335 Server 2 Name: VFA-132 Privateers - Pretense IP: 64.35.206.67:10309 Mission: Pretense_hotstart_caucasus_1.3.7 Pass: (no password) Version: 2.9.1.48335
  3. Wonder if it's similar to what I reported here: I'm still seeing the same stutter when I mask the tpod especially and this fortunately or unfortunately the only module that I've seen this happen to me in. AV8B Tpod Test.trk
  4. Sorry, I guess I was thinking that smoothen_focus_view_edges was applying something like a gaussian blur between the focused portion of the view and the lower resolution portions. What I'm trying to do is slightly smooth or improve the out of focus areas since the default settings make the lcd and mfd's in multiple airframes alias heavily and the sparkle is distracting to me. Would I instead just raise the value in peripheral_multiplier and bring the smoothen_focus_view_edges down to .1 or so?
  5. Everything seems to be working great with the QP now and I'm able to hold 72fps in most places other than low and fast over cities. The only thing I'd like to figure out is why I'm getting a bit of a black flicker up towards the upper most center parts of each eye. I seem to notice it most when I'm looking straight forward or shift my eyes to look straight up. I thought it was due to their maybe not being enough resolution since I was using 90% scaling with NIS in the OpenXR Toolkit, but it still seems to happen with the resolution at 100%. Should I upscale further and then just adjust the size of my focus area? These are the settings I'm running for Quad View smoothen_focus_view_edges=0.4 sharpen_focus_view=0.45 [Oculus] peripheral_multiplier=0.5 focus_multiplier=1.1 horizontal_focus_section=0.5 vertical_focus_section=0.5 turbo_mode=1
  6. I posted on the Github since I was having issues with DCS crashing and freezing with my QP using the Meta Foveated tool. Come to find out for me it was the turbo mode in the settings file that was causing the issue and with that turned off I can now use the tool and take off and put back on the QP without DCS crashing. Attached is the log from before turning off turbo mode. XR_APILAYER_MBUCCHIA_meta_foveated.log
  7. It seems like the zero crossing for the samples used for the RWR sounds are either incorrect at the start or end of the audio file. The result is a very noticeable click either when looping or switching to different RWR sounds.
  8. Right, it's repeatable on my end at least in VR. I have not tried 2d, but I can give it a go as well and see.
  9. Not sure if this has been requested, but it would be great to have support for higher color bit depths or debanding filters so in dawn/dusk scenarios there would be little to no banding. I saw Reshade has a filter for it, but it doesn't work with OpenXR so it would be great to have something built in to help reduce or eliminate banding. The issue seems to be very prevalent on Nvidia cards at least compared to my AMD 6800xt I had.
  10. Yes, sorry for not including that. Currently it is using the Caucuses map and we have rotated between that, Persian Gulf, and Syria. The theme is mostly modern bluefor aircraft for player slots.
  11. I have been able to fly and test this again on the updated rig and it's still happening, though maybe slightly less so. This is in single threaded since the lights for the Harrier are bugged in MT currently.
  12. Hi all, I want to put an open invite out to the community to come by and fly on the Joint Special Forces public DCS server. The server is PvE focused and rotates through various persistent missions that have been published here and can also be used to run new missions by those who want to get into mission making. Server Name (Subject to Change): JSF Public Server - Modern PvE (JAS 39 & UH-60 Req) IP & Port: 64.35.206.67:10308 Password: (there's none) Joint Special Forces, JSF, is primarily an Arma based milsim group which has expanded into DCS. Feel free to drop by the Matrix Server or Discord as well if you'd like.
  13. This is super helpful, I was always wondering if 10 or 20 series would be stout enough for peripherals. I have used 20 series for some open frame PC's in the past, but not for a simpit yet. My challenge right now is I have a limited space to work with, I have a corner desk that is both my work desk and what I currently use to sim from and need to be able to move my frame out of the way when I need to work. It has been easy to do that so far since I have been using an X-56 hotas set on my desk and Thrustmaster pedals, but now with the Virpil stuff coming I will want to mount things more solidly and at a better hand position. My current idea is to build the initial floor frame which the stick and pedals will directly mount to. The throttle, collective, keyboard, and trackball I want to come up with a detachable arm solution for when I need to break the frame down. I will not mount a chair yet, but want to be able to incorporate one later once I am able to take over a different room in the house and have a full time sim rig setup. I am just wondering if a frame without the seat mounted will be stable enough to support all those controls.
  14. That's what I figured, there is always a premium for the convenience and easy of use there
  15. Thank you, that already looks a lot better than the pricing I was seeing from people like McMaster Carr. I should be able to frame out some mounts without destroying my wallet that much further for now...
  16. Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't sure if it should be here or in the home cockpits section. Would anyone happen to have recommended suppliers for aluminum extrusion (t-slot rails) that are either in the US or can ship to the US for a reasonable price? I ended up ordering a bunch of Virpil controls and I will need to build some sort of frame to mount them to as mounting off my current desk is not really an option.
  17. I haven't been able to retest for the last few updates since I'm away from my simrig, but it was still happening in 2.8 even with an upgrade to a 5800X3D and RTX 4080. Hopefully with some engine updates and updates to the Harrier it can be fixed as the Harrier has become one of my favorite planes in DCS.
  18. Right, it's just too bad it doesn't automatically allow for a limited period of offline use if it can't connect, even post update. Hopefully there won't be too many more outages here over the winter though and it won't really be an issue.
  19. I would suspect for anyone participating in a multi-player community, that won't really be an option though. Most servers I know, including my own, follow the update cycle of the current Open Beta. *Just retried the A-10 with my new GPU and the issue is the same. However, adding some CAS sharpening in the OpenXR tools has helped the text be more readable without having to lean in as much.
  20. I suspect I was not able to even get to that since I lost internet after the Open Beta update and was unable to first re-authorize and switch to offline mode.
  21. Hi @Flappie Yes, I've done multiple Liberation missions that include AI F-14's. I've had 0 crashes that were DCS related.
  22. I'm not sure if there is an offline mode, but it would be nice if DCS didn't need to always verify my products online each time on startup. I updated to the recent version of OB earlier today and then lost my main internet connection due to weather here. I thought I'd be able to hop on DCS and use it offline, but all my paid modules said they were unauthorized, which was extremely frustrating. I'm still without my main internet, but I bridged my phone to be my hotspot just to fix that issue.
  23. I ran a turn of another Liberation campaign last night that only has USAF/Army and Iraqi units and I flew for over 2 hours with no freezing. I'm going to do another turn of it this evening and see if things remain stable.
  24. A freeze, I never got the DCS pop-up for a crash and eventually Windows said that DCS had become unresponsive. Interesting, I didn't know about that. I have a different Liberation campaign I can run a mission from with no Tomcats and perhaps everything will be solid with the pagefile adjustments.
  25. No problem, however it doesn't seem like I've 100% solved it. I had a a couple more hard crashes over a few hours of flying so I'm trying to investigate further. Changing the page file settings definitely made things more stable, but not completely and I'm somewhat at a loss of where to look now. The only thing I've noticed is during these hangs my VRAM is almost maxed with DCS using around 15 out of 16GB on Persian Gulf or Syria. Any advice on what I should check would be appreciated. dcs.log dcs.log.old
