I think I posted full instructions of what I did to get it working earlier in the thread.

Discouraged? Can’t see why. It still works and as long as it does, carry on as usual. To answer your question… no, there is no other means to reduce the FOV in the context of this thread. It would be nice if some or all of the features of OpenXR Toolkit were integrated into VD.

Any Varjo Aero - LeapMotion2 - SlugMouse users here?
slughead replied to GPatricks's topic in Virtual Reality
I don't, sorry. GPatricks had tried HTCC with his Varjo XR-3 without any luck. There is a potential issue with the Varjo leap motion drivers/OpenXR implementation clashing with HTCC. He's trying to find out if anyone has it working with LeapMotion and Varjo Aero (no hand tracking) to see if it's the Varjo OpenXR implementation interfering or the Gemini drivers. I think I got that right. -
To be fair, using hands to throw switches, etc, in DCS is awfully unreliable. That's why some use hands as mouse pointers and a physical finger-mounted device to perform mouse button clicks. That way, there are no erroneous clicking of switches and levers in the cockpit. I developed a finger-mounted device that works with leap motion. You can find details of it here:

Correct. It's only internal storage for games to be loaded from the metastore to the headset.

I have the same configuration as you do but with the addition of Thrustmaster pendular rudder pedals. The error occurs on this line: if(Init(&EventHandle)) return 1; It's a standard Thrustmaster line that all Thrustmaster scripts must call to initialise the event handler. Have you tried running one of the scripts that Thrustmaster supplies? Also, take a look at the link below. It doesn't appear to be the same problem you are experiencing, but it might be worth checking.

Over cities it causes a performance hit. So I guess it depends on where you fly the most.
-
For sure.

I'm not noticing much, if any. Give it a whiz.

You could use Reshade instead of OXRTK in that case.

Why not the Q3? If his machine is up to spec, there isn't a need for QVFR, which can actually make the performance worse. So, there is no need for eye tracking in that case.
-
For sure, there is no noticeable gain when reducing FOV if QVFR is used. As I said somewhere else, I don't use QVFR anymore. And I remember what the OXRTK was good for... with the HP G2 it provided 1/2, 1/3 and 1/4 rates of motion reprojection or something like that. So if you couldn't get along with 60Hz refresh rate, 90Hz would work with 45 and 22.5Hz motion reprojection. Now I use the Quest Pro with 72Hz and so OXRTK is no longer something that I need in that regard.

I don’t use QVFR. It’s not necessary with a 4090, 13900k and DLSS. It can reduce performance on high end systems especially over cities.
-
While OXRTK is no longer "supported," it has also not needed any work for quite some time and is thus considered complete. As such, it still works with the caveats in the wiki. If you follow the wiki, it can coexist with QVFR. I still use OXRTK to reduce the FOV and thus the render resolution slightly to boost my frame time headroom with a Quest Pro over Virtual Desktop.
-
Just to add my two-pence worth, the OpenXR Toolkit isn't necessary—was it ever? I can't remember. However, I use it with a Quest Pro to reduce the FOV slightly, 90%, I think, which gives me some frame time headroom to keep out of ASW/SSW in more scenarios. To get this boost, you also need to reduce the render resolution in OPXRTK too.

If you don't deactivate them, the patch will / may overwrite the OVGME mod files. So you are left with OVGME thinking the mods are still active. When you try to reinstall the OVGME mods, you will have to uninstall the active mods first. Doing so will install the pre-patch changes. So you're left in quite a mess if you do not deactivate the OVGME mods before installing any DCS patches. I always uninstall any OVGME-installed mods and then perform a repair to ensure the base files are as they should be before any patches are installed.

"Are wireless headsets up to the task?" Yes, very much so. As for the battery life, buy a power bank, stick it in a pocket, and connect it to your headset with a short cable. You still get full movement and don't feel tethered to your PC. If you buy two power banks, you can hot-swap them. So far, I've only needed to use one, and it lasts hours.

It’s supposed to be fixed in the current v71 PTC release.
