Not sure if I should start a new topic, but on the training sessions topic, on training: Lesson 9 - Air-Air ACM and HMCS You go through the motions, and after you get the missile, there is no further communication with the coach. No: "Good job, that's it", no: "Great, land at Gaudata", no: "Move on to waipoint 4 for extra encounters", nothing. You are left hanging. Also, since the addition of the radar modes, some instructions like : "click the button twice" now requires three clicks, which is something that should get updated when new things are implemented. Should this be in a new topic? It's a bug report for sure.

Yeah, I don't know. I did try it on an external server running in multiplayer mode, still, it was only me flying. I have not been able to reproduce either with 100% certainty. The thing is, you don't know which hits are making sound and which don't, unless you get a single hit that doesn't have a sound. So I think that this needs to be analyzed in code as to what could be triggering the situation, instead of trying get exactly that 1 in a 100th time it happens in game. Some bugs are 100% replicable, others aren't. They are flaky and only fail on very specific conditions (either purely code related, or based on hardware / software interaction, for example). As a dev, you need to find out the probable cause in code, sometimes not being able to reproduce at all. What is harder to do. What shouldn't happen is that a bug noticed by over a dozen people over at the 4YA servers is not looked into unless it can be reproduced with 100% success. But I understand it's much harder to find if you cannot see it happening.

This mission file replicates the scenario... of course, it does not fail 100% of the time. Hope this helps replicate it. Sound-Issues-DamageNotHeard.miz

I see... I'll try to make a reproducible scenario.
-
As far as I know, that is what I did: "to replicate, add wwII AAA in the nearing fields in normandy and fly over them". That should be enough without a track file. Is there a place to see all the standing issues? There is no mention that this is already acknowledged and being looked into. Maybe I'm missing a place where you have a "known bugs" section so that I can avoid posting things that are already been looked into?
-
Well, sure, we could spend hours doing EDs work for them, instead of reporting the bug we could start diagnosing them, reproducing them. Or you could try and put some the WWII period AAA that have been reported already and see if that reproduces it. Yes, I can look into it further, but I assumed that should be someone else's job.
-
Just to add: put some AAA on the very-near-to-each-other fields in Normandy. And fly by over them with the warbirds at around 1000 mts or so. You get shot, your plane looks damaged, but you hear not a sound that those shots have impacted you. It's a real bug, not just an "immersion" problem, because, unless you make it a habit of constantly checking your wings for holes, you have no idea your plane may be less performant or even in the bring of failure. Please, look deeper into this. Thanks, Rafa.

This is a shame... I was looking at making a mission where you take off with a "friend" and then you learn that he has defected, therefore changing him to a "foe". It would be a nice addition.

Not my experience. They remain floating, with lots of wholes.

Good afternoon friends! Sorry if this is a basic question, but I appear to be missing something: If I put a tank on the map and I bomb it during the mission, it gets destroyed and replaced with charred debris… nice! If I put a ship on the water and destroy it with bombs (there’s a message confirmation saying the ship has been destroyed and it disappears from the map!), the actual ship geometry is still “decorating” the landscape. I would actually expect a nice destroying animation and then sinking, but at the very least something that removes the vessel from the water so that other players know there is no longer a target there without having to activate the labels. I’m sure I must be missing something! How do I actually sink and destroy a ship after it’s been in-game destroyed? Thanks for any feedback. Rafa.

Good afternoon friends! I wanted to ask a, maybe, dumb question: I have been flying on the SoW server, and SRS is just incredible! I also host small 2 person missions with my brother, who only ever flies with me. For those scenarios, it would be ideal not to actually have to PTT, but to have hot mics on at all times. But, from what I read, this seems to be 'aircraft specific'. We fly warbirds, specifically, the Bf-109. Is there a way to just both have hot mics on at all times, or are we bound to PTT as the 109 is itself bound to PTT? Ideally, a solution would work so that I can quickly move from THAT setting to actually needing to have push to talk, as that is required on the other multiplayer games. Thanks for any feedback and sorry if I missed something really obvious. Best regards, Rafa.

Yeah, I completely see the point and use of it. But some sort of "warning" or reminders are good UX practices: *Not finding the plane or country you are looking for? Try setting your date or removing the historical filter". Or a warning when you click the "clock": "this will remove non-historic elements from options and drop-downs" so that you are not caught unaware.

Friends, I am at a loss at what could have happened on my mission editor. I launch the mission editor, I select WWII coalition template: It loads the map, but the countries available are NOT the ones I selected. Here's a screenshot: As you can see, "Third Reich" is not an option. If I select the planes available to me as USA, I only get "modern" planes, the P-51D, for example, is not in the list: This was working fine! I have done a few missions and worked perfectly. If I load those missions, things are "a bit" better, the items I have already included are there, but not others. For example, if load a mission I did for the 109, I see the Third Reich as country, I see the 109 as an option, but I don't get any of the 190s. What could have gone wrong? What measures can I take to fix this? I am not reporting this as bug yet, but I don't see how this could be user-operation related. Thanks for any feedback. Rafa.

Good afternoon friends! I'm going through the Kurfust Challenge Campaign, and I am facing issues: I go through the task, the voice tells me "Good job! You may end the mission now!", and when I end it, I end up "only" with 50 points and it gets listed as a Draw. I assumed that it could be that a particular target changed value and it would happen to just one challenge, but it's now happening with more than one. Is this something usual? Since this are "official" and paid campaigns, I would think that any change in the system that throws the campaign off-course would be fixed by ED. Thanks for any feedback, Rafa.

Well, you can buy as gift, as long as you don't own the product yourself. If you already have it, the option to buy is grayed out and it claims that you already have a license for that product. What am I missing? Thanks for any feedback.

F-14 Air to Air Refueling Practice (Caucasus) problem
RafaPolit replied to RafaPolit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yeah, good points Jayhawk... I mostly fall in a category "in between"... I am methodical, but, after a while, I prefer to stop being frustrated, and just turn away for a while and return. I actually figured out how much I suck at this, precisely, during the LANTRIN mission that requests for you to refuel. Still, if I have to travel 40 miles, bomb a couple of places, then travel another 40 to the tanker, only to fail miserably, then that is not great either! Still, I am still very far away from succeeding, but from this: (Notice the poor tanker pilots ejecting! ) To this: (I'm actually "stuck" in the tankers elevator") To finally, at least, having a basket in sight and on the correct side of the plane: (And, this basket actually came out for me, after it was retracted for my wingman - he had finished quite a while ago -), so, things look like there might be some chance to actually some day achieve this. Thanks for all the help and feedback! It's really nice to have someone to share this with and be able to receive suggestions / criticism. Thanks, Rafa. -
F-14 Air to Air Refueling Practice (Caucasus) problem
RafaPolit replied to RafaPolit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Thanks for the input friends! So, yeah, I know practice will make me better. Having the wings at bomb position did help with reducing the changes in attitude and pitch for the time being. I have a Logitech X-56 and Logitech Rudder, probably that puts it in the "medium" category Draconus? No headtracking yet, I'm looking into purchasing a TrackIR. I do get 30fps most of the time at 1440p with my NVIDIA 2060 but I guess I'm on the "medium" side of performance as well. So, I score 3 points on your AAR difficulty scale On the lowish side of good enough. I did reduce the curves to "just a tad" like @Jayhawk1971suggested, I believe it helped. I'm not using rudder at all during the procedure, yet Jay mention's rudder to avoid drag. Do you guys use much rudder during this procedures? Yeah, the trim is probably the most important thing I'm neglecting! Thanks again, Rafa. -
F-14 Air to Air Refueling Practice (Caucasus) problem
RafaPolit replied to RafaPolit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
HOTAS and monitor... just purchased the HOTAS and getting used to it, plus deciding if using any "curve" setting for the main stick or not. Obviously it's a lot of skills to learn, but I'm struggling with controlling the view orientation with the HOTAS. Not sure I can / want to invest in a TrackIR at this point, so watching sideways and up to home into the tanker is not ideal. Also, when the tanker gets "behind" the blind spots on the cockpit, it's hard to assess how it's going to end up after it shows. Of course, all of these difficulties are because of my lack of skill and any skilled pilot would be able to do this with halve a stick and one eye, but I'm currently really struggling. Thanks for the tips! -
F-14 Air to Air Refueling Practice (Caucasus) problem
RafaPolit replied to RafaPolit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well... the thing that is, apparently, not working as it is supposed to are my flying abilities. I finally managed to get more or less stable behind the plane, almost tasting the fumes from the jets, and my "pre-contact" call was actually returned with a "contact ready" and the basket extended. But I cannot keep that position to even close to the smoothness I have seen online with people nailing that basket. My nose jumps all around, my speed as well. I think this is a case of pilot error. Regarding @Callsign JoNay 's comment... maybe it's not a matter of distance but more steadiness and matching speed? Yeah, I'll have to improve a lot before attempting this, I guess. Thanks for all the answers!!! Rafa. -
F-14 Air to Air Refueling Practice (Caucasus) problem
RafaPolit replied to RafaPolit's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Thanks for the answer. I don't think I'm getting the expected behavior. If I send my wingman first, I never get a basket... if I allow him to refuel and finish, the basket HE was using is actually retracted! How far away would I need to signal the pre-contact? Thanks. -
Good afternoon friends! Very new to DCS here, first post! Really loving learning the different planes and the different locations. As part of my "learning" process, I have done all the (pilot) training missions and now I am doing the Instant Actions for the F-14, as well as reading most relevant parts of the manual (for my current level). I'm now trying to do the Air to Air Refueling Practice for the Caucasus map, yet I am confused: the instructions read that I should "practice dancing with the starboard basket while your wingman tanks on the port side". There is no basket on the right hand side. I try an "Intent to refuel" call, I get the altitude and speed, still no basket. I send a "Ready pre-contact" and receive a "Return pre-contact" back that sounds more like a question, and I am stuck in that loop and never see a basket. What am I missing? Sorry if this is obvious, I am really new so be lenient this time, I promise I pick up things quickly! As for a side laugh and proof that I don't have a basket... here's a small capture of me getting too close to the wing to see the missing basket. Thanks in advance, really happy to be part of this community of pilots. Rafa.
