  1. I'm yet to try v4 Has there been any improvement to DLAA trailing/ghosting?
  2. it might still be a wake-up for some and reveal the level of coding skills v relying on hardware improvement. I think this is a good moment and may trigger some changes does anyone remember the vic-20 days of LamaSoft games and how well their machine coded games could run compared to nearly everyone else's, on just a 3k or 5k expanded machine?
  3. had a bit of time to continue it today. I'm about to attach encoders (on the outside of motor). Will try a 25mm stator first and then try with the 30mm motors. Will figure out stabilising it and covers later, once I check how much inertia there is with a long stick and how much flex there is with what's presently there in the mounting if all goes to plan, the gimbal mechanism can be flipped 180 degrees, so motors are underneath and stick attachment can come up through a floor, keeping things relatively flush with floor. Initially I intend to use it sitting directly on the floor with some kind of bracing to spread the load without fastening it to anything, so it can be picked up easily and moved out of the room if needed. edit - what's in the pics weighs exactly 10kg with 25mm motors null null
  4. I can definitely see the difference between 60 and 90, above 90, not so much. However, I never thought I could until I got into VR and experimented with settings. Racing sims, first person shooters and low level helicopter flying certainly reveals the difference for me
  5. there's a notable shortage of both new and used 4090's locally here in Aus, almost nothing available new (from regular official retailers) except a $3999 model here and there. It might help hold the value of the cards for a while longer
  6. btw, when I say overpowering the base, I was meaning that the base not having enough strength to overcome the long levering, rather than the issue of over heating. Thanks Shortcut. I hadn't seen that one.
  7. i'm not looking for exercise either, just wanting to use a 30cm+ extension for some realism, while not over powering the base (hopefully)
  8. ahh, ok thanks. Do you know if it was it a working version of the ffb base? Pretty sure some photos of the AB9 internals show one of the motors physically mounted to one of the gimbal axis, which would simplify the design, but likely limit motor size they can use. I wonder if wwing have done the same, as they generally go the most basic design path looking at their other gimbals?
  9. Have you guys heard any recent info on the winwing taurus? I thought it might be just a winwing kneejerk reaction to moza releasing something?
  10. the frame is just to test if things will line up, but the plan is to mount the gimbal as low as possible, allowing a few mm's to clear the belt/pulley and then mount the motors at the back, keeping all the weight low. I understand this layout probably won't appeal to everyone, but I'd like to keep a long gooseneck / extension without raising everything in my setup and I have the space available under my seat The VKB gimbal pivot point sits about 10mm lower (at yellow lines). Losing only a cm off my existing 330mm extensions is okay with me. null
  11. i'm hoping too. looking forward to experimenting with it . Thank you for sharing the build information you have on your project page. It's terrific when folk share info / help each other i thought i was going to need to spend about $100 for a pair of motors with 30mm stators, but found some cheaper so the total build cost might now only be about $490 aud ( i added $10 because i wore out my grinder flap disk ) null null
  12. just about right to go. the rest of the parts can't come soon enough nullnull
  13. the pic thing was initially to try and make things harder for the scalpers / bots etc
  14. @VR Flight Guy in PJ Pants buying another? did you part with your Moza base?
  15. I've ordered some bits to have a go at DIYing something ffb. Was hoping to buy Propeler's terrific gimbal parts (looks beautifully and cleverly designed) though I believe there's a shortage of bits (at the time of posting this) and pre cutting where I am is ridiculously expensive. So while I have some spare time I've started making a messy zero-prestige flux core welded up version from a couple of strips of Bunnings 5mm thick flat bar (which is actually not so flat). Just waiting on the rest of the electronics to arrive. If this works out, I'll try building some ffb pedals. It's kind of exciting some if it is just tacked together at the moment. Just wanted to make sure it's smooth and nothing binds first. The gimbal parts works out to about $65 with bearings and screws / nuts / bolts etc. I think the entire build with Propeler's nice software will be about $550 aud, though keeping in mind I've spent a good part of 3 days working on just the gimbal, but it's been fun nullnull null null null nullnull
  16. i'm waiting for some rasterizing benchmarks. They seemed to do a great job of avoiding that topic during the release
  17. @TheTaker thank you for sharing that the grip descrambling info in the video was interesting also
  18. @VirusAM Hi, I've just sent you a message, thank you.
  19. I love DLAA for it's terrific anti aliasing look, and it seems to retain very good fps, but I appreciate that it creates some ghosting/trails on some of the gfx which some folk don't like.
  20. I think the link PD upped to max (rather than using oxrtk or dcs) might work better for Q3 too.
  21. is anyone noticing any cogging, with very small movements?
  22. Q3 - the standalone games like Dawn of Jets, Warplanes:Air Corps, Contractors etc. are so much fun too. I think the graphics are amazing considering it's a mobile device. Heaps of online players to team up with or play against. Take the headset with you anywhere and play single/online through your phone. Amazing for it's price Use the Oculus Migraine tool (free) or Quest Game Optimiser ($10 aud) to improve the graphics even further. edit - $799 aud for the 512gb version at the moment
