  1. But even after you do all that you will still have G940 problems. Namely, a lack off FFB and very erratic throttle.
  2. I have problem with the throttle as well as the K-14.
  3. Mine moves but very erratically. It's a gross exaggeration of the G940 reversal bug.
  4. What's the issue here? Trim so that you can fly hands and feet off (breifly) on final. Then forget it. Land three points in any wind. She won't bounce and will track nicely so long as you keep the stick in your gut.
  5. I wouldn't say that I am eating crow. Flying the P-51 is a real joy, no question. But I still see little more in the upcoming years ahead but curious unconnected threads. Even with Combined Arms we will still find ourselves in historically inappropriate battlefields playing with and against the most unlikely friends and foes. Its all cool. Its worth my money but I am a sucker for these sorts of things. We all are. ED, I would have to assume, knows already how those threads will tie together. When they do I will happily eat crow with my borscht.
  6. Yeah well P-51's weren't handing out 9-lines in 1944 but hey, we do what we can.
  7. It runs quite slow relatiive to the a-10 with the targeting display active. Otherwise it's the frog I remember.
  8. A central server would require a 24-hour continuously running mission or campaign. I'd be very surprised to see anything like that on any current sim. The master browser system we have now is fine. The locked out servers are generally the best. Usually they only require a polite request to join on Teamspeak. Three minutes off effort for several hours of troll-free flying is a very small price to pay.
  9. I have an LCD monitor that runs at 2560 x 1440 using an AMD 6970m. That's a mobile processor so it struggles sometimes with DCS. It seems to struggle just a bit more with DCS:World. Has anyone had luck scaling down to a lower resolution while still maintaining at least a little bit of clarity?
  10. This is the old "Battle" mission with 2 Su25's replacing the 2 Ka50's. Crash occured about 5 minutes into the mission while looking hard right at the action. Optical display was not on. Also, the mission seems to run a bit slower in "World" than it does with either the Ka50 or the A10 with trageting/Maverick display active. Crash.rar
  11. Will the Su25t be laser compatable with the Ka50?
  12. Wow. What a PoS then. (the reciever, not the plane) 1st. I've received it a lot. And when it's activated it stays. 2nd. I've only played from the editor with no other planes or units placed. 3rd. I didn't turn it on.
  13. Search of manual turned up cold as did search of this forum. There is an amber light left of the gunsight gyro controls that, when illuminated, is associated with a persistent bell. What is that? Thanks.
  14. I was actually surprised at how easy it was to fly. But that was because my first flight was flown "my way", not the proper way. I gave it two notches of flaps and held the stick in my lap until about 90 and gently brought the tail up. Landing was even easier. 3 points and it tracked straight as a razor. Then I tried it the right way. No flaps and let the tail fly itself off with neutral stick. 3 seconds later I was upside down in the grass. It's a nice machine. The new explosions are a big improvement. Without a Bf-109 I don't think I will fly it very often but am quite happy to help fund a single desktop icon.
  15. TrackIR 6 DOF works fine in single player. However, when I create a multiplayer mission with slots available for clients and I myself have a slot designated "Player", I lose the translation "freedoms" in the cockpit. Otherwise things seem to work fine. (If that's not clear: I can look left, right, up and down but I cannot slide my head up, down, left, right, forwards or backwards.) The mission is a simple practice mission I brought over to P-51 from A:10. The client planes are A:10s. That in itself might be part of the problem as I have not tried to create a pure P-51 mission. I was never trying the mission with other players.
  16. Thanks! Got it.
  17. Manual Errata? Yes. I can't find it ;-)
  18. I agree with Rob about slight nose down trim (nose up works too). But only slight. You should still be able to take your hand off the stick for brief periods with no ill effects. If you can't, trim more. I recommend removing all curves at first. Sometimes too much curve and deadzone makes you fly less precisely. Once you can fly with precision (but perhaps a little twitchy) you can add curve and deadzone to suit your style and dampen the twitch. Another thing to consider when you are on the tanker: keep your feet on the floor.
  19. Bob Hoover, 90. Flew with Yeager. Tested for North American. Helped develop proper techniques for landing a jet on a carrier. Best airshow pilot ever. Told the FAA to flip off. And still kicking'. What a beautiful life!
  20. Welcome LarryNolen. This might just be the last time you will ever title a thread with your own name. I myself have never tried it and I congratulate you for thinking out of the box. Most of your questions will be answered in the announcements section of this site. The P-51 will be a study sim. This means that the plane and its weapons will be modeled to the highest level of fidelity currently possible. There will not be, at least not initially, a IL2-type plane set. Any head-to-head will be P-51 vs P-51 (or, it pains me to say, P-51 vs A-10).
  21. Another missing in this list is X-Plane 10. It's not stunning like Outera above but it's fast, capable of very long draw distances without bogging things down. And in the hands of 3-rd party modders, it looks better than Rise of Flight and certainly better than DCS (though maybe not Nevada). I've been flying the (free) MD-500 around the (free) modded Seattle and have been mostly blown away. The new Oliver Perry is impressive too.
  22. Outera. WOW! Time for Sims to Leave the Stone Age This from the X-Plane 10 blog. Unfortunately it's not part of X-Plane either.
  23. QNH is the real barometric setting. QFE is the setting that will result in 0 altitude on the ground (so its field-specific). QNE is 29.92.
  24. As a fan of DCS this breaks my heart to hear. Enjoy the P-51! I certainly will try to. But the mere suggestion of adding it to the modern battlefield makes a mockery of all that DSC has meant. THIS is what i meant when I said that I hope the products are separate--they should be online incompatable. REMEMBER when I suggested a common laser code between the Ka50 and the WH? I got my arse handed to me by some beta testers. EVEN THAT little suggestion--to sacrifice a teeny bit of reality for playability--bespoiled the marriage to realism that was the backbone of DCS. But mixing the P-51 in is COOL, fun, creative, etc!?
  25. Sometimes the reverse is also true. I remember this one old grumudgeon who would swing his slooow Schweitzer violently to the side of the box in attempt to steer me, his tow pilot, where he wished to go. He, one, had no concept of how on the edge of control I was in that Maule with a notch of flaps trying to drag his glider around at his desired tow speed of 55 knots. And, two, he had little appreciation that his tow pilot has the gentleness of touch to understand more subtle hints that he desires a turn. This guy just assumed (and said as much) that anyone who flies with a throttle appreciates only brute force. ...I really miss that Maule.
