Graphics.cfg has been replaced by graphics.lua. Some options that were previously changed via the old config file are now made through /Config/autoexec.cfg.

If you wanna do it nice and gentle (granny style), hit downwind separated from the rwy by 1/4 to half a mile doing 250 kts (500 kph) at 800ft. Abeam the end of the runway, power to idle, drop the gear and 1 notch of flaps and begin a decent rate of 800-1000 fpm. Make your turn to final keeping 180 - 200 kts by adding some power. Don't square the turn unless you need to. Before rolling out on final add the last notch of flaps as well as speedbrake if SOP for the aircraft type. On final keep whatever speed that roughly equates to 10 AOA. Power back to idle over the numbers. Flare only slightly. Done. Viper's technique is much more fun.

Sounds like they need more beta testers.

More performance issues, I think I found a culpit!

How are you disabling FFB to achieve this, through DCS or through your stick's software? -
More performance issues, I think I found a culpit!
Smokin Hole replied to lxsapper's topic in Game Performance
FFB Off or On makes no difference for me (G940). It's bad regardless of what I do. -
Groove, The best plane to test this issue is the P-51. The other planes lack a trim indicator so, depending on how the controls are set up, a player can be fooled into thinking things are OK because the stick moves in the direction of trim. When in fact the actual trim may be moving in a different direction. So here's what happens when the trim axes are correct (ie, up = up) and FFB "Swap Axis" is unchecked: Apply Nose Up trim: Trim wheel moves aft as it should. However the FFB drives the stick RIGHT. Apply Nose Dn trim: Trim wheel moves fwd as it should. However the FFB drives the stick LEFT. Apply Rt Ail. trim: The aileron trim moves clockwise as it should. However the FFB drives the stick AFT. Apply Lt Ail. trim: The aileron trim moves counter-clockwise. However the FFB drives the stick FWD. Now, the player can trick this in several ways: He can check the "Swap Axis". But oddly the results are the same as above. He can change the trim values so that Left Hat = Down Trim, etc. But this will only mask the issue in jets. The plane is still being trimed 90 degrees away from where the player desires but because the stick is moving in the direction he wishes if "feels" like he is trimming correctly. What he is really doing is flying one messed up plane. I have no idea what happens in the Ka50 because since DCS World 1.2, my performance has been so bad that I have given up DCS and haven't set up my controls for the Black Shark. But I still love the sim and have since Flanker 1. Hope this helps.

FC3 F15 Approach AOA Bug Units or Degrees ?
Smokin Hole replied to IvanK's topic in Bugs and Problems
Pardon my ignorance but what is a "unit" of AoA? -
This is one I think they all know about. I doubt the ticket is necessary.
-
I think that they have been pretty clear that no significant FM changes will be part of FC3. The scripted ground/air transition bothers me too. It bothered me in FC and FC2. But I don't suspect that it will change without an AFM. Do any of us really expect that for a product we have already paid for? Since Flanker and LOMAC we have become accustomed to the AFMs in Falcon BMS, the ED Su25s and the DCS A-10. After flying these things it is very hard to go back and still find the experience satisfying.

The following folder contains both track and mission. I haven't watched the track but in the actual flight the anomoly occurs about 30-60 seconds into the track and again during the fight a minute or two later. (This is not the same track as the video). FC3_Beta_Bugs.rar

Regarding: Follows is a video of the issue. It does not seem to be due to the angle of the sun nor to my heading, but rather my proximity to the 3 planes I am intercepting. Once they are within about 2-3 miles I get the problem. For comparison, I tried this same mission but used the A-10 in place of the F-15 with no problem. http://youtu.be/Vyc3ik2JJI8 Regarding: I can confirm that I also have this issue with all planes, not just those from FC3. ***************** I wrote that it is fixable through the control options GUI. I was wrong. Trim is normal but FFB is 90 degrees off.

Currently out of town but will post pics and vid soon. Departed Tiblisi at 1600 (Spring) in a F-15 and headed north for a practice intercept. When looking north the cockpit turned black with a boxy pixelation and everything above the horizon was black as well. Rolling inverted cleared most of the anomaly. Turning south cleared the anomaly entirely. It resumed once back on a northerly heading.

A Note to All Customers
Smokin Hole replied to menendezdiego's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I believe ED already have people designated to admonish customers. But if a vacancy should open I am sure you'd make an excellent candidate. -
I'm having the same problem. I have not found a way to turn it off. I assumed that it would be found under Options/Special. That was where the P-51 Rudder Assist was located. But no more. The only Special tab is for the Ka50 trimmer. Invariably someone will cry "beta!" but that doesn't explain the missing P-51 tab.
-
After 1.2.2/FC3 installation I was looking to see if there was a way to eliminate what seemed to be an air refueling assist on the F-15. No luck, the only remaining Special tab is the Ka50. The P-51 tab (rudder assist) is no longer there.
-
Everytime I hook up with the tanker the thottles modulate to stay on station. Also the plane trims and usually rolls right. If this is an assist feature it doesn't seem to do very well. (yes, it's beta--just checking). Speaking of assists, when looking for this I noticed that the P-51 "Special" tab in Options is now gone (you know, the one where a beginning player can select his desired amount of takeoff rudder assist.) Finally, the trim settings are mislabeled. L/R are U/D. U/D are L/R.

Confession of a SUCKER. I made at least 10 posts stating a case why FC1 + FC2 buyers should get this free or cheap. I stated how this really isn't much of an update. I bemoaned the direction ED are taking DCS. So just a moment ago, I was checking the forum, saw the FC3 beta link, clicked it, purchased and began downloading the torrent within 2 minutes of logging on. God, combat sim developers must love consumers like me! Anyway, good luck with it. Happy flying all!

If you read graphics.cfg, it implies that EDGE is already in use.
-
msalma, again, Thanks! Please note that you're graphics.cfg is from 1.2.0 and is missing the new MiG-31 and F/A-18 textures starting at line 133.
-
Thanks! I looked at the changed files and about half had no .lods equivilents in my Shapes folder, only .edm. Since I don't know what either of those are I opted to leave this one alone.

Well I need to give it some more time. I am keenly aware of my own tendancy towards placebo. But... it really does seem to have sped things up a bit. Benchmark is "Battle". The MRLS rounds still cause a slideshow (I think they do for everyone). Otherwise things move allong about as well as I recall them doing prior to DCS World 1.2.x. Some of the explosions have an initial Minecraft quality but if that's what it takes to make the game playable until ED throws some love towards mid-range PC owners then it's easily a price worth paying. S!

Awsome. Thanks! Will give it a try. I need any help I can get.

Do you mind posting the changes you have made to graphics.cfg? I think Notepad++ has a compare feature but I don't know how to use it. Thanks for posting. I need all the help I can get. If there was a mod to remove all static vehicles from airports, that would be the cat's a$$.

Try War Thunder. You will realise that you don't need a new computer.
