Hi, I just find something strange today. When approaching M0.84 the roll rate is slowing down a lot and continue to accelerate will increase the problem. Is there any limitation link to the roll rate by the FCS?
-
At 7'30 the pilot explains that firing the gun make the aircraft shaking violently so even if the aircraft PAC system don"t loose aiming stability on TGT, the pilot behind the HUD had a different feeling.
-
Hi, thanks for the reply. To be honest, i didn't even see that there is already implemented in the A10 because it's pretty insignifiant effect. To deepen my question. I'm more looking for something we've got with chopper like AH 64 an Mi 24 like an option in SPECIAL menu to set the level of general shaking effect during flying with why not, a second option specific to GAU 8 shaking. Last interview i saw from A10 Pilot talk about how he almost loose aiming during gun firing. PS: Smoke effect of GAU 8 needs rework i think. Have a nice one.
-
Hi, I know it won't be the more important feature but the shake effect we've got in other modules are pretty immersive and that could be a good idea to implement that especially with more high effects for GAU 8 shooting.
-
I'm happy to not be the only guy to complain about that feature. Of course DCS needs complete overhaul concerning blast, fragmentation, penetration on weapons and how it will affect vehicles, infantry, structures... So many things to do with vehicles like mobility kill, damaged sensors, crews leaving it... Currently, something that make the game so weird, is the fact that it's pretty impossible to damage your own aircraft with low release bombs. I was deployed in Africa few years ago as a JTAC, and we went trough some places struck by allied aviation. You doesn't want to be there when it happened, in DCS not so dangerous...

Hi @BIGNEWY, So long since we heard something about update of weapons effects and damage modelisation. Effectiveness of ammunitions in air war simulator like DCS must be one priority. Only AGM can be considered realistic because they pinpoint the target but all other weapons from A/A and A/G are not good. How many times we've got a MK82 hitting 10m from an APC and do nothing. 20mm gun is completely useless and even 30 mm is weak. I won't even talk about bigger bomb like MK84... Why loosing time on create quite complicated fuse settings for bombs then on the other side you've got nothing to simulate the different effects cause by that choice. Weaponring is a important process in air war planification and we have nothing except visual fireball for your commercial videos. I don't want to be disrespectful but you showed off that you are the best air combat simulator. Well, show us that it's just not to create nice trailer.

@YoYo I think you don't understand why people complaining (at least hardcore players). There is no doubt that ED would be able to reproduce main avionic and different display menu, ramp start and most general things. But a module isn't just only good cockpit or nice ramp start, especially in combat flight simulator like DCS. We are talking about the operational capabilities of the F35. this is probably one of the most sensitive aircraft in the world. So ED is trying to make us accept the fact that they are allowed to develop a public simulator from data of the aircraft that intelligence services from countries like Russia or China try to catch for one decade. Even if there is a contract between ED and the USAF like they did with the A 10C, it's not comparable technology. So, things like radar performance in A/A or A/G will show nothing close to the real aircraft. flight performances would be the same approximation. Take the F16 for example, it is one of the most well documented aircraft publicly speaking and even with that kind of data, how long it takes to approach a good result considering the FM. Announced the fact that you've got feedback from pilots doesn't prove anything about you've got the good or accurate informations. Active or former pilots are still under law pursuit if they are disclosing classified informations like any military guys. Last thing i want to develop is EW. F35 are intended to operate in contested area using there own EW suite without the needs of other assets. No needs to deepen the sensitivity of that kind of system. To be honest we can't even speak of EW realism in DCS the way it's modeled. Now from a gamer POV, it's an attractive plane and for sure it will be easy to sell and most of the community doesn't care of realism. To conclude, the most hardcore players must understand that DCS is a public simulator and not a professional one. So you will never have a full spectrum realism module for 80$. Even the pro simulator are not what you thing. ED must be more crystal clear about what they sell in term of realism. The most advanced the aircraft is, the farthest you are from the real aircraft capacities and you can applied that on everything like ground or airborne radar, missiles, stand of munitions...

The main goal of 5th generation fighter like F 35 is to deal with highly contested environment with a lot of EW threats. This is exactly what we don't have for sure and will never have.

So, I can confirm what Rongor said. Every tests i made today doesn't work wtih IAS or TAS if you have wind. -
DTOT-fed Required speed in HUD might have issues
Strannix replied to Rongor's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ok my bad. I just did some test and i think i've got the solution or at least an explanation. By default the HUD display IAS and the request speed is also an IAS. IAS can't be good for maintaining TOT because it doesn't take into account things like wind and other stuff and the informations are only good at sea level with standard weather. So, in your exemple, you've got 33kts of wind roughly on your back that make a big difference for TOT and IAS can't deal with that. Currently, the only solution you have, is to display on HUD or CDU page the Ground Speed that take wind, altitude and pression into account and you're gonna have the good value to follow. @BIGNEWYAt this time, i pretty sure that IAS can't work for TOT except for low altitude flying with roughly no wind but maybe i'm wrong? TAS doesn't take into account of wind, only altitude and pression and from my test, i've to add the wind to the RTAS to find the good speed. A10C manual is pretty simpliste in term of DTOT explanation and maybe there is some constraints with IAS and TAS? -

Strannix replied to Rongor's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi, Just my 2 cents. In your exemple, the aircraft ask you to reduce speed to 170 to loose the 7s but 170 is not the speed you will maintain all the remaining leg of your flight. Don't think you can maintain the same speed for TOT. It's like close formation, you have to compensate your speed quite often because the calculator continuously recalculating. -
Hi, that request can be apply to every helicopter in DCS. It could interesting to be able to put empty rocket pod because as you do with the missile rack on AH 64, the rocket pod on helicopter are not remove every time and there is a lot of training configuration where the rocket pod are still in place without rockets. I know it's more cosmetic feature but that can be cool.

Ok, Thank you.

investigating JDAM doesn't use elevation of target and still hit target

investigating Maverick BGST & JDAM PPT Still broken post patch.
Strannix replied to Shibiswag's topic in Bugs and Problems
@Swift. A JDAM has 2 modes and that it: - INS only in the case you've got GPS denied environment - INS/GPS in all others cases. Absolute and relative are just a different way to create coordinates. Absolute are most of the time generate by specific personnes and they use specific software and SAT imagery to be able to create TLE 1 TGT location. In DCS the same process is done by create a WPT on the TGT with 0ft AGL elevation. Relative coordinates are create from an inboard sensors from your own aircraft or a third party. Except for very specific intel aircraft who can extract TLE 1 coordinates, most of the fighter won't be able to do better than TLE 3. So again, people who say use TGP, FCR or HUD to create better coordinates than using a preplanned WPT, just don't understand how it works. -
cannot reproduce JDAM Pre Mode not working
Strannix replied to Viper1031's topic in Bugs and Problems
As i already mentioned, JDAM are too much accurate in DCS even more in F18, F15 or A10 that's completely unrealistic. The F16 introduce a more realistic way of INS/GPS system who has input error on the aircraft location during flight. a JDAM will use the aircraft location at the release moment and after few seconds use his own GPS to correct his own location during flight path if it detect an error. In DCS from what i saw, the CEP is around 4m to 7m with F16, so it's quite more accurate than reality but the effect of bombs and ammunitions in general are bull<profanity> and that's why it's uneffective. -
cannot reproduce JDAM Pre Mode not working
Strannix replied to Viper1031's topic in Bugs and Problems
Hi, If you use an inboard sensors you will have more inaccuracy. That the way it works IRL. A inboard sensors need his location (aircraft INS/GPS position) to extract grids. So if you have error on your own location + sensor error you will have less precision compare to a pre planned coordinate. There is no more accurate things than a pre planned location. As @Sinclair_76 mentioned there is two mode on JDAM: - INS only. You're completely dependant on the aircraft own position and the accuracy of your TGT grids - INS/GPS. After release (around 10s)if the internal GPS bomb detect an error between the initiale location given by the aircraft, it will take his own location because he is assuming an aircraft error. So at this time we've got the more accurate mode of the JDAM and it's even more accurate that the thing you have IRL. A JDAM Circular Error Probability (CEP) is 13m in relative mode and 30m in absolute mode. That mean you will have 50% of impact inside CEP radius. I don't even speak about of Vertical Error (VE) that put more error on the impact of the bomb. From my test in DCS, 90% or more of the bombs are hitting inside the 13m CEP so it's far more accurate than reality. The problem in DCS is the ineffectiveness of ammunitions and to compensate that you need to hit less than 5m of target. That why people are complaining about accuracy but it's not the source of the problem.
