Cool. Will be interesting to see how HB solves that in terms of gameplay. I take it this was a while ago when the phantom was in active service

personally I am more curious about the mavericks we're getting. I guess they are fired by the WSO but looking forward to see how it looks like in game with the old CRT screen.

amen to that. I still hope for a Christmas miracle nevertheless

I can remember it being green for a while and I don't think they updated their trello since like july or something. Six weeks left of 2022 so lets hope for the best

Will there be a f-4e terminator (2020) variant?
Heinlein replied to Mini.Adam's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I think it's time to take it down a notch even though I always love some internet bloodsport. As previously stated We will get a naval phantom (eventually) so everyone will be happy. Well unless you are one of those that only want the G or EX version that is -
Good point. The F-15E is really being teased these days especially and the fanbois are breathing heavy. It is also good to hear that HB are hiring more people so hopefully that helps with keeping the timeframe as well. But for me a war is a valid excuse for delays.

I read that as well. Seems like they lag behind in the modeling & texture department because of the war in Ukraine. But miracles can happen as they say and a big and talented team that heatblur now is I still see it as possible to have it by Christmas, if not a Q1 23 release. I have noted that they have not done much in terms of updates to models lately so that might be because they focusing everything on the phantom. They updated the radar in the F-14 in the last update but I believe that's more of a coding thing rather then modeling thing but hey I know next to nothing about this stuff.

so I take it, it's pretty much like the AN/ASG-31 on the F-5?

HB's tight lid on information is a smart move considering certain other 3rd parties reveal things way to early and creates frustration within the community. And since its called "the phantom" it fits that it remains hidden until it suddenly appears. I dont know why but this whole thing sort of gives me flashbacks to Helo games handling of No mans sky. After a really rushed release and terrible reviews they just went dark no contact whats so ever and after a few updates, no mans sky was suddenly good and delivered more then initially promised.

no -
well since HB still states they are on track for a 22 release (I guess a Christmas miracle) I still have my hopes for that while the Eagle is razbam so anywhere from two weeks to 2025 is within reason. But joking aside, there is quite a lot of tutorials and showcasing for the Eagle at the moment so it seems to be very close.

"you're teasing it hehe"

I can drop napalm to this tune

Seeing the first in game screenshots of the F-4 will for me be like receiving nudes from a chick after being on a military deployment for six months (people who have been deployed will understand).

What do we Know About the Sparrows That we are Getting?
Heinlein replied to Czechnology's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
that is actually great marketing to give us something phantom related on Halloween -
They have stated that they will give us two versions of the E model before they will develop a (two?) naval version (I guess the J version) The G version is it's own being and to my understanding a lot of it's systems are still classified. the G version is pretty nisje as well and I honestly don't think it would sell as well as the E model we are getting. It is a business decision at the end of it and giving us the E model was the best decisions both from a DCS community and money making perspective. The E model represent the golden age of the phantom in general.

interestingly enough, in the A-1 skyraider announcement we saw something that looked like a Vietnam map. The terrain did not match with the Mariana map to my knowledge along with some boats that are not in game at this point so it seems to me that a Vietnam map is in the works. When it comes to the DCS engine development that is ED's table but it seems that development of modules at this point is being more and more outsourced to third parties so hopefully ED can use all of their resources on game engine development witch is desperately needed

It's still three full months left of the year but yeah their secrecy on this module is killing me

great tune. I always tough "run thru the jungle" was a great themesong for the F-4 but this is better
-
They claim that they are behind schedule but still on track for 22 release. So lets be patient and pray to God, Allah, Odin, Zevs, Kevin Becon and all things holy that it happens

It might be delayed a few months into 23 but I keep my fingers crossed for a late Q4 22 release. I have literally saved a few vacation days from my job to use when it's released
