  1. i prefer BOB (baby On Board)
  2. This is an F-4E rear cockpit. this is the DMAS version I believe
  3. I volunteer to do that but I guess that remains wishfull thinking
  4. Sure a few period correct assets would be neat but i wont hold my breath. But who knows, Heatblur is quite secretive about this module.
  5. My toughs exactly. The F-14 is wider known to your average normie, but lets face it, your average normie gamer does not play DCS, they play Warthunder. The most common complaint (and the biggest compliment) I get from new players is that DCS is too complicated. To play DCS it requires a special breed of people that want to sit down and study each aircraft and its history and technology in order to use it it's full potential. And you can't learn hardly any plane in DCS without the F-4 pops up somewhere as almost all the modern tech in modern planes traces back to what was first introduced in the Phantom.
  6. Was there any differences to the British phantoms other then the engine? If not i hope they just add RN skin to the naval phantom and call it a day.
  7. That would actually be awesome! True but you have to look a bit broader at the DCS community. I guess you guys are a on the young side and more "MFD master race" crowd. There are alot of people like me who are more "reject MFD's, embrace steamgauges". And alot of people are aviation history enthusiasts and are more on the older side and grew up watching F-4's. And i also just took a look at heatblurs YT page and the F-4 announcement video have 576 K views while the Eurofighter have just over 400K. The F-14 launch trailer have over 1 mil views but that is three years old. But in the end we will have too see. I believe they will make boatloads of money on it. The interest is definitely there
  8. The thing is that DCS have several time eras and each time era have it's audience. It is the WW2 era with the spitfire, mosquito. BF-109 etc. Then there is the cold war era ranging all the way from 1950 to 1990 with the Sabre, mig-19 and the Tomcat. Then lastly there is the post-cold war era where we see the F-16, JF-17 and the F-18 etc. There is overlap between the eras but you get the point. All up until the release of the F-14 all we had was essentially the mig-21 and F-5. Not exactly the most sought after cold war jets. However the F-4 (together with the mig-21) is like the most iconic cold war planes. A cold war without the F-4 is like a WW2 community without the P-51. With the release of the F-4 and mirage F-1, the cold war community will get a massive lift as it recives two of it's most iconic jets. Furthermore the F-4 will also add alot to the Persian gulf map in particular as it opens up a floodgate of missions especially Iran-iraq war scenarios but also all up into present era as Iran still fly them. ED decided to postpone the development of the F-4 back in 2018 to instead focus on the F-18 and F-16, which was a wise business decision as it did draw a <profanity>load of more people into DCS. But it will be interesting to see the sales numbers for the F-4E compared to other modules, I suspect it will be on par with the F-14. And ofc it helps that it is made by the most trusted third party developer.
  9. The universe is telling you something my dude. Now hear me out: Today is the 21st day of the sixth month of the year F-4 is the aircraft we are getting. F is the sixth letter of the alphabet +4 that equals ten. 21+10 = 31 E is the model we are reciving of the F-4. E is the fifth letter of the alphabet. 6 + 5 = 11. And because the eleventh month of the year does not have 31 days we have to carry one day over to the next month. And heatblur have promised us the F-4 this very year Do you understand what this means???? THE F-4 is coming on 1st of December this year!!!!!!!
  10. and to add to that, a modernized version of the F-4 is essentially just a poor mans F-15. some people here say they want a modernized phantom because they like flying old jets but they want the capabilities of new jets. For me it seems like the only appeal the F-4 has to them is aesthetics not the tech and all the wizbang underneath the panels. Thats fine, but for me at least the love of old cars and aircraft goes deeper then just the surface. If you modernize a vehicle, there comes a point where it stops being that old thing and became a totally different thing. So all in all i am glad that Heatblur focuses on the version that made the most impact in aviation history.
  11. I honestly don't get the fixation some people have on the terminator and K version. They want a 3rd gen fighter that's been upgraded to the level of a 4th gen fighter avionics and that only a few countries use because they can't afford to buy newer planes and only exists in a few dosen numbers. It's like buying a classic Ford Mustang and then proceed to rip out the engine, breaks, steering, seats and instruments and replace it with new and modern making it a modern car. Why not just buy a new car instead of ruining an old one? The F-4 is a 3rd gen fighter that ruled the skies from the mid 60's to the early 80's and is a top of the line fighter for that era. And lets not forget that the E model was the most produced and most exported version that saw most combat so it only makes sense to deliver that version to us.
  12. Will the Iranian tomcat come with the mim-23 Hawk missile? plz heatblur
  13. Anyone know of any good books/manuals on the F-4s systems and mechanic thats out there? Might as well kill time until the release to get to know the theory on the aircraft.
  14. Today would be a great day to do a bit of teasing, just sayin Heatblur
  15. well. You can use the E version for SEAD. The E version could carry Shrike missiles. Only a hit probability of like 25 % but still
  16. The F-4 pre-order is never late, nor is it early. It arrives precisely when it means too.
