I think you will find the 7800GT will slap the 6800GT around a fair bit in games. Thats why it cost more! Take a look at a few benchmarks and such you will see. cheers

Hi, Just today lockon 1.1 has started giving me(again) memery problems. Sometimes it runs fine other times, (most times) when loading campaigns i get the following error message. "The instruction at "0xbb666ac" feferenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory would not be read. Click ok to terminate program" I have had this problem before, but the only way to fix it was to re-format twice. I really don't feel like wasting my night reformating. I have restored all default settings in bios with regards to memory and overclocking. Dito for the GPU. Memory tests run fine for several hours and no other programs complain. Im really at a loss with this one. Any help is apreciated. cheers

Are u going to buy 1.2 ?
Nate Dogg replied to zaGURUinzaSKY's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
definately getting it. gotta support ED especially since their last announcement of future visions. I too might have to splash out and get the Trackir with vector expansion. Pretty costly though! A good idea about posting the poll at simhq subs. (it apears the polling options are disabled, for me anyway) cheers -
Basically i think SLI is working fine you. remember that lockon loves CPU over anything else and as dual core wouldn't be that benifitial for lockon (yet) the results your getting seem fine. Especially with 8aa 16af!!! If your settings are maxed out and the lowest you get down to is 28fps i would be over the moon! Try running at 1600*1200 with 4aa 16af. you probably wont notice the image quality difference but it would look just amazing. Also it would stress the GPU's more at this res rather than the CPU. I find anything above 20fps is fine anyways. so 30-40 on average would be great. most people would envy your system. Go have fun. cheers

LOL thats fantastic, how come you can get crossfire when: No one else can, and it hasn't been released???

First sight of Lock On 1.2: Black Shark !
Nate Dogg replied to TekaTeka's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Thanks for that, ill have to give that a go. I hope widescreen gaming becomes a standard thing soon. Not even BF2 does it properly, which really blows. Anyways thanks for that info. cheers -

Nate Dogg replied to TekaTeka's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
really, i didn't know, i know some people tried to do it before but didn't get it right. I haven't got a widescreen lcd yet, but my brother has, n i didn't seen anything about 1.1 having widescreen. Great news if it is standard (no file edits). I ordered a dell widescreen lcd on ebay, but got robbed! lost lots of money. still trying to pay for one form dell now they are out in australia! Flying lessons cost too much $200 bucks a week! but better doing the real thing though. Great work ED top stuff. -

Oh man those shots in the russian forum are great. Looks like its heading for another great sim. Well done ED! Also i notice those shots are in widescreen!!!! Thats fantastic news! cheers -
Hi, Firstly i will tell you about the mod i found, some may even know about it. Its called FS passengers http://www.fspassengers.com Basically the mod allows you to create a company along with pilots. The demo version only allows taking off from San Fransico area with passengers. The idea is to fly passengers around, build flight time in aircraft and points. For new pilots you start out as a student pilot, and it shows how many hours/points requiered to progress further as a pilot. Points are earned by safe flying, good landings and such things. A little box shows your passenger satisfaction% and their addrenaline%, if your doing something that you shouldn't! As the addrenaline goes up their satisfaction goes down until the problem is over. Then the satisfaction goes up a little bit. (depends on what happened) At the end of each flight, there is a debrief screen, showing the points allocation and things that went wrong/well. My initial experience was like, wow, this is how stock FS2004 should have come out. It gives you purpose to your flying rather than just flying pointlessly. Below was person experience after about 3 hours of play. (im being deadly serious for those who don't believe me too!) I started a new career and flew my piper warrior around San Fransisco, then did a longer flight out to the west then ocross to the north for a while (on time compression) then all of a sudden, my passengers were scared to death because i was flying over a war zone!!!! WHat the? A few seconds later i was hit by small arms that destroyed my engine and electrical systems, then artillery that put a hole in the side of my plane! (found out in the debreif after i ended the flight). I sucesfully landed after declairing an emergancy on a wide road. Got like 2500 points for the way i handled the situation. The last comment on the debrief, was "thankfully their happend to be an brilliant person behind the controlls and no-one was injured" My god, that was just insane. The sound of the ground fire and artillery was just like F4. too bad fs2004 doesn't have a damage model. I just had no idea a civil simulation even had that sort of stuff. Incredible! Everyone go try it. obviously you need a copy of FS2004, or maybe 2002, not sure bout that, go check it out anyways. Cheers

Yep i finally got it working, need to have no page file, and limit the ram to 366mb, plus various other patches. Good graphics, are you serious? Watching that Janes intro brings back memories from WW2 fighters and USAF. Ill give it a try on the weekend, took too long to get started to actually get into the training and such things. The Simhq forum was very usefull. thanks people

Cheers thanks for the links, very helpfull. Ive been trying to get a hold of this game for so long now, and i just happen to find it in a cash converters! go me! now i just need to get it to work
-
Hi, I just picked up this sim at a cash converters for next to nothing, installed it, patched it to 2.09 and then tried to launch the application. I got nothing just illegal errors? Im using windows XP home and have tried in various compatibility modes. Can Longbow 2 run under XP?? All i can find on longbow is reviews, but of course they are 8 years old! Can't seem to find any forums either? cheers EDIT: Found a very small forum at simhq, but still after going through that and the downloads i still can't get any further than crashing as soon as i start the game

Forceware 80.40 Beta drivers
Nate Dogg replied to S77th-GOYA's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I dared and lost! Hey, Here are my results for the 80.40beta drivers. Lockon 1.1 (max settings water=med no mirrors) 77.76 A-10 Trackir 1600*1200 (4aa 16af) = 22.46 77.76 A-10 Trackir 1280*1024 (4aa 16af) = 27.73 80.40 A-10 Trackir 1600*1200 (4aa 16af) = 22.28 80.40 A-10 Trackir 1280*1024 (4aa 16af) = 27.55 77.76 A-10 CAS 1600*1200 (4aa 16af) = 31.07 77.76 A-10 CAS 1280*1024 (4aa 16af) = 37.30 80.40 A-10 CAS 1600*1200 (4aa 16af) = 30.93 80.40 A-10 CAS 1280*1024 (4aa 16af) = 37.16 (Graphical errors on all 80.40, flickering objects, and some object skins disapeared.) 77.77 A-10 CAS1600*1200 (4aa 16af) = 30.56 Pacific Fighters (Max settings water=2, forest=2 on the black death track) 77.76 1600*1200 4aa 16af = 16.18 77.76 1024*768 4aa 16af = 28.59 80.40 1600*1200 4aa 16af = 17.12 80.40 1024*768 4aa 16af = 29.61 77.77 1600*1200 4AA 16AF= 16.91 No graphical errors and an increase of about 1fps in each test for 80.40 drivers Farcry 1600*1200 4aa 16af ultra settings 77.76 Steam benchmark 26.18 80.40 Steam Benchmark 25.93 So really no difference in FPS for lockon between 77.76 and 80.40 but i had errors as discribed above. IL-2 showed good increase of 1fps over all test, with no errors. Minimal decrease in farcry, and also i noted some weird shaddows in 77.76 had gone with the 80.40 drivers. Because of the glitchs in 80.40 i tried the new 77.77 officials and a half a FPS loss resulted when comparing the new 77.77 to the 77.76beta drivers. No errors encounted with the new officials. PF also had slightly less gain over the 77.76 but still a reasonable amount. Using 80.40 with Falcon 4:AF didn't solve the issue of aa and only being able to click half the cockpit I think i will stay with the new 77.77 official drivers for the time being. Don't bother with the 80.40 drivers unless you don't play 1.1, be then you wouldn't be here! Also the 80.40beta notes indicate support for the G72 chip???? Anyone know what this is? -

Nate Dogg replied to a topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Great pics guys thanks for sharing them -
Man this stuff is just off tap, hows about we all enjoy flamming cliffs new adventures with evolved or who ever it is, and hope ED are getting a good slice of the profits of this new "gold" edition, and if their not, lets hope they have enough cash to take who ever is responsible for the theft of 1.1 to the slaughter house. cheers

I think i may have soved it, i ran another memory test and it didn't like it too much, so i have it running stable now. I also did a full re-install with lots of defraging and re booting during each install step. Also changed my page file to system set, rather than custom. Im using two sets of the matched 512Mb corsair 3200XL (2-2-2-5) ram chips. Haven't been able to test lockon much since, been forced into studying or gardening. I know which one id go for! Hopefully im good to go now tonight. Thanks for the assistance guys. cheers
-
Yep im using a fresh install (1.00-1.1) and the following patches from this site. GU LOD fix, stutter fix, setup fix. Thats it. All drivers are in place and running ok. Thanks for the suggestions, any others?? cheers
-
Hi, Just recently when loading 1.1 (with all updates/fixes) i get this memory error (trying to write to memory/failed). I would even load the main menu previously. I did a fresh install and it fixed the issue for a few days, but now it does it on a regular basis, sometimes when loading the game, other times only when loading a mission. It seems very random. I have just added an extra gig of memory to my system, and had to change the 1T setting in bios to 2T. This is the only thing that has changed that i can think of to cause these errors. I have used different drivers to see if that was the cause, but had no luck. I have run mem tests (prime95) and everything seems fine. Please help me solve this problem cheers

CH Product Throttle PRO - need profile
Nate Dogg replied to 4cExpert's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Hey, i found that if you only have the pro throttle, and not the stick, majority of the profiles are not too well suited to your case. However they are a good place to start if your looking to modify yourself. I personally made my own profile (with lots of help!). Im using just the pro throttle/rudder peddles with my FF2. I found most required items can be loaded into the 3 modes on the throttle. I suggest seporating them into NAV, AA, AG. I haven't get into the su25T yet, that will probably need its own profile. cheers -
Well i finally got online just now with 1.1 and it was a little slow early on, but then all of a sudden there were 8 people in my server and when i exited the were 55 people on and still are. I wouldn't really want too many more people in as the number of servers is low. I had a blast. No lockon online is not dead. There just isn't many of us lomac pilots around compared to Il2
-
Yes indeed i have, ive mainly been on singleplayer, but now i have faster internet, im goin to jump online more often, where can i get the new version from, the link for hyperlobby i have is gone? Nevermind, i found it (google) current version is 3.8.95. Thanks guys Cheers
-
well i do have a router and firewall but all of it is open. I got BF2 working now, but hyperlobby still says server is down? Are there any specific ports i need to be open for hyperlobby? Also what is the latest version? i have 3.6.68BETA. The hyperlobby site is hyperfighter.jinak.cz isn't it? Because it's coming up with page not found? Man technology sucks sometimes! cheers
-
Hi, Is hyperlobby down at the moment? Im just trying it out but its says its down and try again in a few minutes. I think it might be my problem coz im having no luck with BF2 online, keep getting kick with "no packet flow". Driving me crazy as singleplayer is shocking i had no idea BF2 was goin to ignore singleplayer and co-op modes. Rather unhappy to say the least. Cheers
