  1. ENC button still present in manual 1.1.0 and M02 training missions The current manual version 1.1.0 still has some references to the "ENC" button at the INS panel (which in the current OpenBeta 2.5.6 isn`t visible any more), e.g. at: 1. pages 160, 161 and 162 (pictures/screenshots) 2. "...If the ENC button on the INS Panel is lit..." at page 96 3. "...The ENC button will blink ..." at page 160 Also there are still references in the training missions "...M02. Introduction to the INS" for both Caucasus and NTTR versions. Thank you!
  2. Thanks Smokin Hole! There is no bug: I had the volume turned down so I could'nt hear the engine and must have been too impatient to wait for the engine to spool up :-) But it would be great if the ignition switch would be animated to get a visual feedback when the button is pressed...thanks!
  3. When trying to push the ignition switch in the NTTR training mission ("Startup from cold and dark") nothing happens: no sound (I would expect something similar to a clicking sound), no animation (button does not go down) and engine does not start either. (Of course Ignition switch orange cover is open; Using Cheat -> Start Procedure starts the engine properly) 2.5.6 known bugs lists for Bf-109: engine start doesn't work - maybe there is a similar issue with the M-2000C? Any ideas?
  4. Will those two maps be able to complement each other / merge (means be used in the same mission/campaign) or will we be either restricted to current Normandy OR (future) Channel Map?
  5. @BIGNEWY Welcome and thanks for your quick reply! Sure I know we don't have a race car, but I still think rolling direction is a bit too sensitive to power. Someone already proposed to use only one engine, others to first go straight and then enter the turn - seems to be very delicate to handle. And why should the plane go to the left when the wheel is turned to the right? Please see this short video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/12t1xpvb91cgPa4tu3giTl52Ev1v80smW/view
  6. @BIGNEWY: Here you go - e.g. please go to the end of the (attached) track when the plane goes to the left while the nose wheel is fully turned to the right. This issue only seems to happen when starting to roll with too much power applied (some guys in this thread already mentioned that), but it seems to me that pushing over the nose wheel should not happen at those (low) speeds. Anti skid has still been on. (And yes, I know - it wasn't my best landing as I'm still working on my landing skills ) Many thanks! DCS FA-18 turing issue - Kopie.trk
  7. Hi guys, thanks for your replies! I am starting out of a standstill and when moving, then quite slow. Nose wheel e.g. is turned to the right side for about 75° (NWS HI), so the plane if moving should go to the right but not elsewhere. Instead, it was even moving slightly to the left.
  8. Hi all, I can see that the nose wheel is turned to the side (confirmed in external / F2 view) - also turns even further with NWS HI engaged - but sometimes the plane only moves straight ahead with no turn. Anti skid switch is on (yes, I forgot to turn it off...), both brakes are off. DCS Open Beta 2.5.5.34864; Instant Action -> Caucases Case 1 carrier landing
  9. Hi guys, thanks a lot for your hints and comments. Regarding carrier landing: I just had a couple of successful landings and can again confirm that it's all down to skill and knowledge, which requires practicing and learning which (did I mention this already ?) requires time... Joystick curves (TM warthog with extension) I had already adjusted/tweaked (yes, that helps a lot) and no, I'm not yet on VR as I'm quite happy with TrackIR together with a 3440x1440 monitor which already provides a lot of immersion and good peripheral view (I might consider getting a Valve index, but that's more of a budget issue...). A couple of learnings I had for myself: - starting way back behind the carrier with a direct approach has been quite manageable for me as I have more time available - achieving and maintaining proper ON SPEED AOA does require some time, esp. when starting from a different altitude and/or speed as required - I'm still struggling a lot with CASE I recovery as there is not enough time for corrections when entering the approach turn / base leg directly from abeam the carrier (e.g. as described in Chuck's - another excellent - guide). Also I still have issues properly aligning with the runway on final approach - again, not much time to react in this scenario. Therefore I changed the procedure to already enter ON SPEED AOA while still on the upwind leg. - Sometimes I am experiencing a huge pitch up e.g. when gear down or when levelling off out of a turn (still in ON SPEED AOA) which feels unnatural to me, but of course I don't have any real world experience. I was able to compensate that by cutting off the throttle short before levelling out and smoothly increasing throttle after level out. - In total to me in transition flight at low speeds the Hornet can feel like a rodeo horse esp. with flaps fully down, very delicate to handle. Minor input change can make a huge difference, I easily entered low frequency oscillations in pitch. I do recall other similar posts... Btw: have the devs mentioned that the FM will get some tweaking in the future? - Using TACAN and setting up proper course helped me a lot properly aligning with the runway (carrier course minus 12 degrees?). But that only helps if you're quite far away from the carrier, not so helpful when turning in to final from abeam the ship. The course line on the HSI didn't show up before I hit the course switch at least once. Is that supposed to work that way or is it a bug? But on top of all that, yes I had fun
  10. Hi all, I know that mastering those challenges can really be rewarding, but if not (let's say because I don't have the significant amount of time required for training) it can be just as frustrating. For an accasional player like me both are just way too complicated to accomplish (and it's not a matter of videos and explanation which are available a lot, it's just about the fact that I don't have the huge amount of time required for training), so an "easy option" for me is a must have. I am a loyal customer since the very beginning (e.g. with LOMAC and Black Shark 1) but frankly speaking I have ceased buying any more modules as I think DCS goes in the wrong direction. For me it once was the same issue with FSX which became more and more complex (more focusing on huge number of complex planes and not the sim itself), but while learning numerous complex procedures became more and more important, the "fun factor" just got got lost on the way. Being a long time flight simmer starting in the early 90's with Falcon 3.0, I do still remember that companies like Microprose and Jane's had just found the right balance between "study sim" while there still was a game that provided a lot of fun (e.g. there is nothing else that provides as much long term motivation as a dynamic campaign...). I can accept that this easy option will come later, but for me this definitely has to be on the backlog (at least with medium priority). And if so, I'll be back  Please don't get me wrong, I still love what has is is being done for DCS but again, I need more accessibility (while DCS should still stay a study sim). Thanks
  11. Hi Wags, it would be great if you could attach your mission file to each video that you will be releasing - so that we would be able to simulate what you are doing (way before the training missions will be released)...many thanks!
  12. +1 Every Youtube video should have the respective mission file attached.
  13. +1 ... I couldn' say it any better than that...
  14. Option "Easy refueling" requested I totally support the idea of getting some additional options that would allow to make areal refueling easier - so everyone could choose which fits best depending on individual skill and experience level... For an occasional simmer (including myself) the current realistic / "very hard" setting is way too difficult and leads to a lot of frustration. Other "tweaks" (e.g. easy recovery etc.) are also available, so why not for this annoying issue - an additional option has been asked for multiple times already.
  15. Acer Predator Z35p (Ultrawide QHD 3440x1440) is amazing - I love the wide field of view...unrivaled immersion (non-VR)
  16. I was wondering if Hyperthreading (2 threads per core) will decrease performance in DCS. Afaik DCS - including 2.5 - will only utilize 2 threads (one main and one for sound). Given that, I assume that having more than let's say 3 or 4 cores (1 or 2 additional cores than DCS requires might be needed for Windows background tasks). So if one core needs to handle two threads instead of only one it should be slower in execution, right? Also having a higher single core frequency should be better than having more cores. (Reason why I am asking are the recently annnounced Core i9 9900K with Hyperthreading and Core i7 9700K without) Does anyone has tested this?
  17. Hi all, when Hotas and/or Throttle are plugged in, the energy saving options don't work: screensvaver won't activate, the screen will not turn off and the system does not enter standby mode. Manually starting screensaver works fine as well as initiating standby mode manually. When Hotas and throttle are not plugged in screensaver works fine etc. I have the most current Windows 10 updates installed (Version 1803 Build 17134.137) Firmware is updated: Hotas has firmware 11 and throttle 23. Installed drivers are also up to date: 2014_tmhw_1.exe Thrustmaster told me they can't help as this is OS related (no comment) Anyone else experiencing this issue? Any advice?
  18. Hi all, having "DCS World" (2.5.0.15365.345) and "DCS World OpenBeta" (2.5.2.18307.391) installed on the same drive I recently had to move my DCS World folder to another drive. I was told that I don't need to update any registry keys, just to edit any desktop or windows menu shortcuts to point to the new location. Basically this works fine except the autoupdate can't find the other installation folder any more to copy already downloaded files locally instead of downloading them (autoupdate _log.txt -> ERROR: Invalid local source: f:\DCS World) In my "DCS World OpenBeta" installation folder I've found a file "dcs_local_source.txt" which I've updated manually, but my "DCS World" folder doesn't contain this file. Is there a reason why I shouldn't create this file within "DCS World" (content pointing to "DCS World OpenBeta" installation folder)? Anything else I will need to consider? Thank you
  19. Are the Saitek drivers installed properly? I have version 6.0.8.1 installed but there might be newer versions available.. (For driver download please see http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php ) If so, you can check your Gamecontroller (see attachment) via "Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedals" icon in the taskbar or by setting up a shortcut to all your gamecontrollers: "target": C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL joy.cpl,,1 "run in folder": C:\windows\system32 (example is for Windows 10)
  20. Just donated! Let's keep our fingers crossed - I can't wait any longer...
  21. A Hornet HOTAS would be a day one buy for me
  22. What is the default FOV that DCS provides in 3440x1440? (In 2560x1080 it's 75 degrees)
  23. Which Field of View (FOV) does the 3440x1440 resolution provide? With my resolution of 2560x1080 I have a FOV of 75 degrees - e.g. see ...\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\Config\View\SnapViewsDefault.lua ... SnapViews["A-10C"] = { ... [13] = {--default view viewAngle = 75.000000,--FOV ... Iam just curious because both resolutions (3440x1440 and 2560x1080) have the same aspect ratio of 21:9.
  24. Hi everybody, both resolutions have the same aspect ratio, so can anyone tell if the higher resolution (3440 x 1440) offers 1. ether a higher picture resolution (sharper image) with same field of view 2. OR a wider/bigger field of view (ability to "see more") with same picture resolution in DSC 2.x? Thank you
  25. Hi Terry, I already own all 'Maple Flag Missions for DCS A-10C', from 'Basic Flight Training Qualification' ... to 'AFT03 - Countermeasures'. Will I get a key to be able to install the new DLC/ Training Campaign 'A-10C Basic Flight Training Campaign' via DCS Module Manager? Thanks and regards
