  1. This really is a great campaign, I am having lot's of fun! Each mission does require some new tactics and requires to learn new and varied handling topics, but so far (as of mission #5) this never got frustrating or boring.
  2. I also having patterns in distant clouds (horizontal lines) in DCS OpenBeta 2.7.1.6430 - please see attached screenshot (gives an idea but in reality it looks worse) My resolution is 3440 x 1440
  3. Well said - I can't agree more A similar issue I see is with F-18 air-to-air refueling...
  4. I think the friction limit of the front tires is way too low (even under dry and non-freezing conditions) - as if the deck would be very slippery or being covered with blackice.
  5. OK, good to know as I haven't been able to select ILS at Nevada map / Groom Lake AFB (109.3 MHz = channel 30) due to the fact that for F-18 the highest selectable ILS channel in cockpit is channel #20.
  6. That might be a workaround, I agree. But that's not the point: the plane should not be moving like that, so the mechanics are not implemented as they should be.
  7. No, there is definitely something wrong with the mechanics - please see https://drive.google.com/file/d/12t1xpvb91cgPa4tu3giTl52Ev1v80smW/view (video taken from an older version, but this issue still persists in DCS 2.7)
  8. Thanks, highly appreciated! And please also have a look at the rolling behaviour - while moving on the carrier deck, the Hornet often slides over the front wheels straight ahead or even moves in the opposite direction (esp. when high gain steering is engaged) - thanks!
  9. For me it is too difficult, there's no need to discuss that (and I'm not the only one). Your statement "...Over the years..." tells it all...I don't have that much time or do not want to invest that much. For air refueling in a game - even if it's a simulator and even for a study sim like DCS - this huge amount of training should not be required. If it would be that hard in real life then pilots would do nothing else. I am not asking for a huge simplification, just an option for a liiiiitle simplification or more forgiveness during this procedure.
  10. Hi Rhinozherous: simple answer is YES Please! Or add an "Easy Option" - air refueling currently is too difficult in DCS!
  11. I am still frustrated with air refueling: hitting the basket is really hard while probe and basket get separated again soooooooooo easily. Thanks for all the helpful and well-intended hints guys, but I am convinced that there should be an easy option e.g. providing a larger hit zone and more forgiving/stable connection between probe and basket. If someone wants it done the hard way, well then do it and practice (a lot), but I fully support what Meyomyx said. If it would be as difficult in real life as it is in DCS, there would e.g. be a lot more accidents with jets running out of fuel or like in Palomeras 1966...
  12. I am also having random trimming issues: cyclic is stuck (rudder still seems to work) at the last trimming position. "Pilot trimmer" as well as "Reset trimmer" do not work. Force Feedback is set to off. I have the impression that when I had no rudder deadzone it was even worse (means axis have been stuck more often). Sometimes I am able to reset trimmer (by pressing "reset trimmer") or set a new trimmer position by pressing respective buttons multiple (e.g. 5) times, but often I just hit the ground... Edit: When cyclic is stuck (after using "Pilot trimmer"), pressing "Active Pause" and then moving the stick around re-releases the cyclic again.
  13. Yeeaaahhhh - Apache Longbow incoming !!!!! I still have great memories to which (at least for me) was the mother of all flightsims: Gunship on Commodore C64, meanwhile 34 years (!) ago - took about 45 minutes to load from datasette (tape).
  14. Many thanks for all the good and well-intended hints and tips, but I simply do not understand why asking for an easy OPTION or an OPTIONAL cheat for AAR urges so many to insist that DCS has to stay a pure hardcore simulation. I do fully agree, but a simulation also has to have some options to tweak and adapt the user experience on an individual basis. In the same sense one could say to those denying such a request: get out of your armchair, get a significant amount of (including physical!) training and apply for you nation's airforce, because this is the only way to experience "the real thing"...
  15. Can't agree more. I simply need some kind of AAR assistance within DCS - like an easy option or a cheat for AAR. I prefer to use TrackIR and not VR, but in the current state AAR is just frustrating for me. I do love DCS (the whole franchise starting with SU-27 Flanker.), but do have other obligations in life so that I don't have the time for a daily "training".

  17. Just for clarification: 1. I got the same warning (see https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.p...1&d=1594856372), 2. so I moved the directory F:\DCS World OpenBeta\_downloads\.torrents to a different location and 3. was afterwards able to update to version 2.5.6.52196 without any further (noticeable) issues. There is no such file like autoupdate_settings.cfg in my OpenBeta installation folder. My questions: -Am i now good? -Will I still be able to use torrent for future updating process or should I move the .torrents folder back under _downloads\ ? Many thanks!
  18. Thanks jojo, so it wasn't a handling issue on my side. This behaviour ("CNM Neutral/ PCA Select" does not switch back PCA to NAV mode) seems to be a bug in the current OB version 2.5.6.45317 - please see also https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=263258
  19. How to switch PCA from "A/A gun mode" back to "NAV" mode? I have switched to "A/A gun mode" by pressing the "CNM AA Gun" button (which is mapped to my TM Warthog). I want to activate the APP (approach) mode, but as I am not able to switch back the PCA to NAV mode, the APP button does not show up. By pressing "CNM neutral (PCA select)", the HUD will not switch back to "NAV" mode (still "CAN" is shown on HUD, but the gun snake disappears) and also the PCA stays in "A/A gun mode". I have tried a couple of buttons including "Weapons SystemCMD AFT" and also -FWD as well as -Depress. (all of those buttons are mapped to individual buttons on my Hotas, there is no 3-way switch involved/mapped) Any ideas? Many thanks!
  20. When I was supposed to actively communicate with anyone, e.g. package Oculus, Approach etc. I had the impression that this was only possible when the green / V/UHF radio had been tuned to the proper channel/frequency. I might be wrong, but when I tried to use Red / UHF instead (while Green was tuned to any other frequenvy, e.g. Main) nothing happened after activating the required trigger (SPACEBAR or "F10" menu entry)...so some triggers had not been properly executed. I wanted to use different channels and retry, but I was unable to repeat the call as e.g. the "F10" menu entry was gone after it had been used/activated once. Also ATIS information broke up when I switched green from ATIS to a different frequency, even when red was still tuned to ATIS frequency. (Using only green for active communication had been a perfect workaround for me, so I had a lot of fun with the missions so far...)
  21. Fyi: Works now perfect in the updated training missions (Openbeta 2.5.6.44266): "radio check" is a scripted event - you only need to select the correct radio frequencies, then press Spacebar and it's done automatically. I had been searching for something in the radio menu ;-)
  22. Thanks baltic_dragon - great to see you being so committed and responsive! This (minor) issue with the green radio still seems to persist (OpenBeta 2.5.6.44266 which includes your recent training mission updates), so I have opened a thread in the bug section.
  23. DCS OpenBeta 2.5.6.44266: Switching predefined channels works fine when switching the "V/UHF Radio Function Selector" from position "Off" to "FF" for the first time. After having switched from "FF" to "G" (guard frequency) once and then back to "FF", only asterisks will appear in the "COM frequency display" and switching predefined channels will no longer be possible. Switching the selector to any other position (than "G") and then back to "FF" doesn't seem to be a problem. Thanks!
  24. Just learning the basics, I am stuck how to do the radio check as requested while still at the ramp. When setting the "V/UHF Radio Function Selector" to "FF" the display shows a row of asterisks (******** - same as for SV, DL and EN positions) and I am not able to switch predefined channels via the "VHF channel selector". V/UHF frequency always stays at guard frequency of 243.000 MHz. Update 2020-03-02: Switching channels works fine when switching to "FF" for the first time. After having switched from "FF" e.g. to "G" and then back to "FF" the asterisks will appear and switching channels will no longer be possible.... Easy communcation I have disabled / unchecked in the options settings. What does it mean to do the "radio check" in DCS? Is there suppoesed to be an entry "radio check" when communicating via the "MAIN V/UHF RADIO SELECT" button? I haven't seen such an entry so far... Many thanks for your help!
  25. At the end of this training mission the Hawks are invisible, means no planes (if activated just the labels) can be seen in mid air. I assume this is the case since the Hawk is no more supported in this (including previous) DCS versions. Funny things is that the radar is able to lock on and the bullets from the gun will hit and show some nice explosions. Also the Hawk pilot will eject as well... (looks like from nowhere in the air) :megalol: It would be good if the mission briefing would state which of the HOTAS buttons has to be pressed to activate ACM mode: Weapons SystemCMD FWD and/orWeapons SystemCMD AFT - thanks!
