  1. CTD in mission 3 just before returning to Detling home base happened to me as well. I have posted a crash-log, but the support ticket wasn't accepted as I was using an unofficial mod (Reshade). Maybe I will replay one day, but need to finish this campaign first. Great immersion as always (I love the contemporary music on channel B), thanks Reflected!
  2. @unlikely_spider: thanks! So it's the "E6-B" (e.g. mechanical) flight computer. Would the "highspeed E6B slide" (< 220 knots) be recommended? (as Mosquito recommended cruising speed is 240mph while the vanilla E6-B only supports up to ~250mph/220knots)
  3. What does "EB-6 Computer" mean? Thanks
  4. @TheCabal: I think I unterstand your frustration. I also still remember the days when gameplay had always been the central part of a flight sim where all other parts had been designed around. I had lots of fun playing (yes, I said playing) e.g. Falcon 3.0, Enemy Engaged or Digital Integrations sims. All had strong focus on campaign, flight and loadout planning etc. The pinnacle of this development led to Falcon 4.0 with its excellent dynamic campaign, but its publisher Microprose unfortunately stumbled upon the huge effort that was required While DCS is a wonderful simulation environment, in recent years I often also had the impression that too much focus lies on numerous (albeit wonderfully simulated) planes and other (albeit often breathtaking) details etc. while the gamplay features are being unattended. The same impression I had with FSX about 20 years ago which ended up as a huge and technically great system but lacking of substance and long-time motivation. But there is hope (if not salvation already ) available: Are you aware of the excellent campaigns available like Raven: Dominant Fury or Reflected's campaigns (just to name a few, I know there is a lot more excellent content...) or have you tried the free dynamic campaign generator "DCS: Liberation"? Generally there is lots of campaign background (sometimes historically accurate) information provided and/or books like Raven One. That's a lot of gameplay elements available... And the fact that a dynamic campaign generator will be available within DCS is a great idea! E.g. seeing a bridge fully intact in the next mission that has previously been destroyed has always broken immersion for me.
  5. During the update I got an "Updating runtimes" message followed by a reboot. Can anyone tell why this is necessary?
  6. I found this free story-driven training campaign Red Flag Training Missions - F/A-18C both very entertaining as well as helpful https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3302808/
  7. Ed has just posted a short video/teaser on YouTube today: Will 2.8 include (long-awaited) Vulcan and/or multi-core implementation? Or will other cool features like improved rain/fog/clouds/traffic etc. be included ? I hope we will hear some details in today's Official News (?) Anyway, this is great news! Looking forward to...
  8. A modified user curve (in case there is an afterburner detent installed on the TM Warthog throttle) can be calculated via "DCS: Detent Calculator Spreadsheet & Software v1016 by JC of DI and Bailey" (includes explanation and calculation for various aircraft types) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3315617/

  10. Hi all, is anyone else having this issue? Strange thing is, that i am able to assign the elevation, but neither latitude nor longitude show up on the MSN page. Assigning coordinates in TOO mode via HSI/waypoint works fine.
  11. +1, a F/A-18C and/or Apache Red/Iron Flag campaign (as a training mission replacement, but with a lot of immersion... ) would be an instant buy for me as well
  12. My AAR skill has improved since I am completely staying off the rudder (opposed to what Chuck recommends in his F-18 guide) - instead I`m using stick and throttle input only. Still I wish there would be some kind of an "easy AAR" option available...
  13. Of course subforum should be locked and thread should be pinned+locked, so we could keep track of all updates being done to the map...many thanks! (maybe I might have missed this ....? )
  14. After having hit both artilleries as well the ammunition warehouse at waypoint 6, I was told to contact Devil to report that the attack has been completed. I do get the "Attack complete" radio menu but when I select this entry, nothing happens any more. I also have tried to hit enter on the UFC (after selecting the Comms 1 radion frequency #2) but it seems that no more triggers will activate from this point onwards... Strange thing also is that I do get he same "Attack complete" entry on both Comms frequencies -> Other... (I thought I should only get this on Comms 1) Also it would be good if the "Mission 4 briefing pack" would indicate that I (callsign "Steep") am flying as "Devil 1-2" with "Devil 1-4" being my wingman. Having lots of fun so far, well done Chris
  15. I love to constantly being challenged within a campaign which requires to learn something new in every mission Of course such a helpful community providing hints like here (many thanks!) will also be required so that it won't get too frustrating at any point. Btw: AA waypoints & bullseye can be found in Chuck's F-18 guide at page #636
  16. Thanks for your quick reply! Btw: I passed just mission 1, but great campaign and documentation so far
  17. The Raven One campaign has the kneeboards as PDFs within the mod folder, but not Operation Cerberus North. (e.g. <Driveletter>:\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\campaigns\FA-18C Operation Cerberus North\Doc) The kneeboard pages (as PNG files) can be found within the mods\campaign\FA-18C Operation Cerberus North folder within the mission files (compressed files, e.g. open with WinRar) (example: <Driveletter>:\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\campaigns\FA-18C Operation Cerberus North\OCN M1 Final.miz )
  18. Thanks for your quick reply Being just a challenge would be good, but currently it's more frustrating due to frequent crashes because of vortex ring state - esp. at the end of a mission The Huey can be a beast to land... I'd be happy getting some hints how to get Game Flight Mode activated (LUA tweaking etc.)
  19. Although e.g. Game Flight Mode has been activated in Gameplay options, this is not available in this campaign (applies to other options as well, while also "Force...for all missions and campaigns" has been set) . Any ideas how those options (esp. Game Flight Mode) can be enforced nevertheless? Btw: I've just started but great immersion (as for all of Reflected's campaigns) so far ...
  20. +1 Hornet Red Flag campaign - please
  21. Excellent guide, many thanks! I was also able to show the AMPCD (aka "CENTER_MFCD") in the bottom left of my single monitor. Unfortunately it seems that multiple "viewports" shown at the same monitor are not clearly visible as these will be shown like transparent overlays (e.g. center view is shining through).
  22. I think you need to frequently update JDAM coordinates manually by TDC depress/release, esp. just before releasing the bomb (in CCRP / Auto mode). If not, the JDAM coordinates will stay with the initial target point and the corrections made by the bomb in the last seconds before impact (when laser is firing) won't be sufficient to hit the target which had been moving away from the initial target point. Update 2021-08-01: Instead of JDAM the GBU16 are being used to attack the moving target. But also for GBU, the target point (for AUTO release) needs to be updated constantly (because the target is moving). If not, the GBU will miss as the target moves out of range. Badger633 also states this in the mission briefing "...target point for the auto bomb drop system...must be reselected constantly, by pressing TDC..."
  23. Hi Chuck, chapter Weapon employment (bombs) (page 65) please add a hint that the "top circuit breaker in the front fuse box" needs to be activated, otherwise the bomb won't release - thanks!
