  1. For $125 USD it better be! ;)
  2. Probably because the flight model and weapon systems are very basic in comparison.
  3. I recall getting this tutorial when Ironhand first announced it and I do remember seeing the missles have contrails back then, but I just tried it now and they do not have them anymore and I have v1.12a as well so it must have been changed.
  4. What was his in-game graphic settings and what is his system using for processor and video card? Just wondering if my current system is up to spec: AMD 3500+ Athalon (2.21 GHz) 2GB RAM ATI Radeon X850 PCI-e PE XT :)
  5. Really great stuff wish I had seen this when I first started out. Good thing this is a sticky or I might have missed it.
  6. Thanks fellas that did the trick. Simply deleted the trakir.ini file from the input folder and viola everything works again! Thanks so much!
  7. Well it had been some time since I have fooled around with LOMAC but I am damn sure the last time I used it my TrackIR was working. But tonight I load it up for the first time in a while and for some odd reason LOMAC is not responding to TrackIR input! I then check in the TrackIR software that it is in fact tracking my head and it is. Then I check with IL2FB that it is interfacing with anything at all and it checks out fine. I even test it out on FS2004 and again no problems. But again I try with LOMAC and it does not respond to my head movement! Is there some kind of switch in a config file somewhere that I can check in LOMAC to get this to work again?
  8. I prefer playing A2G both online and offline. :)
  9. Yeah I'm the same way. Too new to really know what I am doing. I'll just be flying along enjoying the nice scenery when suddenly *BLAM*.....followed by me ejecting, and peices of my aircraft falling around me. :( I never seem to be able to find anything let along hit it. Just a whole lot of jamming bars and who knows if they are friendly or not. ;)
  10. Or you could try not starting up the TrackIR unit and run LOMAC by itself and see if that does the trick.... but that is assuming you have a TrackIR unit. (if you dont know what TrackIR is then you dont have one and its not the problem ;))
  11. I get it as well. Its an optimization method of the 3D engine to try and do less passes on textures that are further away. The algorithm is based on your point of view and its distance to the polygon but sometimes this does not work out so well if the texture plane is large or it doesnt understand the face is perpendicular to your vision or in this case it makes a miscalculation and thinks your PoV's vector is in another direction (typically the front of the aircraft rather than your pilots head or the external's PoV). If you fly at a different vector (typically towards the graphic anomoly) it will detect the calculation error and you will suddenly see it draw out the textures for those poly's as well as ones farther out, and it will appear as if everything will snap into focus. I've seen the same thing with 100km preload and highest visibility distance and details, with an X850 XT PE, and 2 GB of Corsair RAM.
  12. I don't have TrackIR, no. I've been meaning to look at it, but to be honest I think the effect on my housemates of seeing my gazing at a computer screen with HOTAS and microphone AND a couple of little shiny dots stuck to my forehead might be just too much :P I got around that by buying some reflective tape and wrapping some around the microphone of my headset. :)
  13. Probably not all the switches will be clickable as they may not be directly useful considering the scope of the sim. For example perhaps a switch to cycle the fuel pumps wont actually work because there is no real purpose for doing that in the sim.
  14. Sorry I wish I could help you but one forum you might want to try and ask questions is here: http://www.simhq.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=140
  15. Want to see the Russian Aircraft carrier to scale? Well here ya go! Pretty insane details. Compare it to: See more here: http://www.modelshipgallery.com/gallery/cv/ru/kuznetsov-350-ni/ni-index.html
  16. Why is the flag cleared (ie red lights on ADI go out) when I go into BVR mode and turn on the radar (default 'I' key)? Thanks for the great responses fellas! :)
  17. Which one? The top one or the bottom one? I have done some further testing and noted that the upper one seems to be linked to radar somehow. If I am in BVR mode in an Su-27 and I toggle the radar on and off the upper red lights seem to blink, 'on' indicating radar is off, but what that has to do with an ADI I have no idea.
  18. I noticed on the Attitude Direction Indicator (ADI), and the Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI) on the Russian aircraft have these red lights on them: and I have searched the 1.1 docs and even the 1.0 docs to figure out what the red lights mean but have been unsuccessful. Can anyone tell me what they mean?
  19. Beaming means the enemy aircraft is keeping you off its left/right wing which fools your radar into thinking it is not a moving object because it is not moving towards or away from you, which effectively breaks the lock. I am still not used to the new Su-27/33 radar modes but I recall you can change your radar mode to compensate for this, making it better for beaming aircraft, but then that radar mode does not work well with aircraft moving towards or away from you.
  20. Ok seriously....that was funny as hell! :)
  21. Just a question, I am not trying to defend the offender or anything, but if the F-15's are using AR missles why cant the Su-27/33? I mean, I have been on servers where the Su-25T's are not allowed to use ARM's because the A-10's cannot, and I understand it is to keep it fair, but why this imbalance. Keep in mind fellas I am fairly new to the online thing, so I dont really know all the in's and out's that go with it. I am also not very knowledgable about the comparitive strenght of the aircraft and their weapons. I am asking because I don't know.
  22. I think it really comes down to what your bottleneck is. And that could be your CPU, GPU, RAM (speed and/or amount, and even the motherboard. The tricky part is figuring out what that bottleneck is. ;)
