Update the DLSS preset used by DCS to remove ghosting
Qcumber replied to sleighzy's topic in General Bugs
The ghosting is better but it is still there. Some situations are worse than others. For example try the instant action mission in Marianas "Lagoon Island Patrol". The fake "Zeros" look terrible. Even with 3.8.10 and preset E or F. EDIT: @ectomia I tried this again today and found that disabling sharpening eliminates ghosting for me almost completely. A slightly shorter after image but very smooth. Preset E. -

No. Leave the override off. Just wondered if OXRTK was reducing your resolution and that was why you were getting better performance. Are you using foveated rendering in OXRTK? -

Have you overridden the resolution in the third tab? It might be running at a lower Res than without OXRTK. -

OXRTK just let's you control a few options whilst DCS us running on open XR. I suspect that you have some settings which reduce the resolution or otherwise reduce the CPU/GPU load. Can you post a screenshot of your OXRTK settings? -

According to the VD discord server the lack of cable option is a meta issue. It does not sound like anything will change. -

Are you using an ethernet cable via an adaptor? I used to have a Pico 4 and that's how I did it. It's not the same as a usb tether. VD does not support a usb cable connection as Meta won't allow it. I can't get an ethernet connection to work on my QP. Not sure if the Q3 will support it either. -
I've not had chance to fly a Mosquito down a foggy fjord yet but it's at the top of my list for the weekend.

Fog on the fjords looks great.

I'd love to see Growling Sidewinder do a dogfight between a Vulcan and a Mig 23!

F5 bought and first impressions of the cockpit are overall positive. Is the landing gear lever supposed to be transparent?

Not interested in the M2000 broomstick? -
That's why I am waiting before getting any expensive hardware. My performance just keeps improving so hopefully that will continue to get better in 2025.

I definitely notice an increase in GPU/CPU use over cities and potentially an FPS drop, with or without QVFR. It's just that my system can't cope without QVFR. I might see how the new GPUs look next year. A 5090 and a pimax super!?
-
Mid range settings really with medium distance. No civilian traffic. High textures. It's easier if I do a screenshot but not at my pc at the moment. I'm also conscious not to derail the thread too much.
-
For me fps goes up over cities irrespective of whether QVFR is enabled or not. It might be a relatively higher increase than with no QVFR enabled. However, if I fly at full headset resolution across the whole frame(s) I am stuck to 36 fps if I am lucky.
-
This thread is useful.
-
That's because you gave a 4090. I have a 4070 and a 5800x3d so have much more CPU headroom than GPU. QVFR utilises more CPU use and therefore takes some of the pressure off the GPU. I can maintain 72 fps in most situations with about 60-70% GPU use. Most of my CPU cores are running at about 60-70 too. With a 4090 OXRTK DFR will give better FPS. If you paired it with a 15900K maybe QVFR would be the better option

I don't have any issues with the most recent Nvidia drivers. -
It very much depends on your hardware. For my setup QVFR is far superior to OXRTK DFR. I can keep 72 fps most of the time over Cairo with QVFR. With OXRTK DFR I struggle to get 50 FPS. With no FR I am lucky to get 36fps.
-
DId it OXRTK FFR work for your current system before you tried QVFR? QVFR shouldn't have a visible rectangle if it's working properly. Do you mean that there is a harsh transition between low and high Res areas? If so you could try increasing the border size. This gives a graduated transition. Also make the centre high Res area larger then you don't really notice the periphery.
-
It still works for me. I don't remember having any issues with DCS updates. Maybe something else you changed about the same time?

Is this compared to meta link? As per my post above VD is a great app but you cannot directly compare the two unless you have used the same super sampling etc. If you have not already done so, try using meta link with open XR toolkit SS to 1.5 and bitrate to 960 mbps. I use both on a regular basis and at the moment I think that meta has the slight edge. Next month might flip back to VD. The difference is that close.
