incorrect alignment HUD completly off - Mission: King of the Hill
PlaceboC6 replied to PlaceboC6's topic in Bugs and Problems
So I let it run down and it took care of the issue. I can only guess that I may have been exploiting something that got fixed since the last time I flew a mission. Watching your track I also discovered time compression which will definitely help take the edge off of waiting for that counter to get below 10 now that I can crank it to 3/4/5x. Thanks for taking time to repro it yourself. -
incorrect alignment HUD completly off - Mission: King of the Hill

Maybe something was patched that made it more critical. The reason I didn't read the manual is because of all of the experience I have with it working just fine prior to posting this thread. I went through and watched training on doing the full process but Auto always just worked. So when I ran into this based on having never had an issue before and I have some serious hours flying single player campaign/stand alone missions I ASSumed something must have been broken. I'll do like you and let it run all the way down and see if it corrects the behavior. But yes I take this sim very seriously and until last night I have always been able to take off as soon as the ILS screen got to 50 and said RDY Next to the 50. I love realism as much as most of us here but it always saved a lot of time when I would repeat missions to be able to just Autostart. So for this reason in all this time I have never had a reason to do it the full normal way or do Auto and just let it run all the way down. I've always just used the AutoStart with zero issues in the F-18 as well. Haven't checked to see if I have any issues on that side. I'm much more familiar with the F-16 as that's the plane I started with. -
incorrect alignment HUD completly off - Mission: King of the Hill

Ok watch this. I take off. All seems normal as I rocket toward the ocean. Then: 2:00 Drifts to the right side over 500 knots 2:26 while doing over 450 knots the ladder swings way to the left 3:17 I lean right in my chair to try to center the ladder 3:29 it suddenly moves dead center without any input So not only is it off. It's moving side to side at high speed. Recommend full screen on youtube as I recorded this on a 38" Ultrawide. I'll say again. For the entire 2 years I've been flying this Sim I have relied on the auto alignment and never had the ladder just wandering the hud like this. -

I'll post a vid to my youtube channel which will be more useful. Spare you the long startup etc. I understand what you are saying but I am telling you that I have used the AutoStart on every last F-16 mission you can buy and waited for it to state that Alignment is Complete. Never had a single issue before last night. It's been a bit since I've flown any missions. So there have been some updates since then. Will post when I have it published. -

Thank you for the responses. It's not wind related. If I had made a longer track file I have been flying at 400 knots straight ahead and the HUD slides completely out of view on its own. I've been flying the F-16 for a couple of years now and I have also flown this mission to completion multiple times without this weird HUD issue. It doesn't seem to do it in Instant Action oddly enough. To the second response. I did an AutoStart, which is what I have always done when flying this mission. Waited for the ILS alignment to finish and I took off. If you watch the top right of the screen during start up you will see it state that the alignment is complete and I let it go all the way down to 50 before I took off. This is how I do all my campaign missions and I have never had my hud fly off to the side for the entire length of the mission. Seemed to get worse the longer I flew. If you own this mission, do an auto start, let it complete and see if it does it to you as well because like I said, it didn't do it to me in Instant Action. -
Today I flew a mission, mentioned in the subject, and noticed the entire time I was flying my HUD was completely off. I have a track IR and reset the center multiple times which you can probably see in the track file. It made the mission almost unplayable. I realize these missions are third party perhaps, but I don't understand why the core simulator would be impacted by that. I will attach the track file. Unfortunately, you have to wait until after I start up and take off to see what I'm talking about. I did an auto start to spare you as much time as possible but..... Thanks f16 hud way off.trk

It's been a while since I fired up the AH-64 module so I decided I would start with some instant action. No matter what I choose it loads me into the map screen not the cockpit. When I go to controls it has me in the general section instead of defaulting to the vehicle I am trying to fly.

I've been flying the F-16 and F-18 for a bit now and it seems like after the most recent patch I'm having to manually turn off these graphical representations that were previously hidden. Is there a setting in the main configuration I am missing because I looked through the settings and find it annoying, even with my Track IR, that I can no longer see switches that were previously wide open to me. Such as the Helmet mounted display brightness in the F-16 and the bottom MFD in the F-18. Am I just missing something?
-
I wonder the same. I just jumped in the F-18 and tried to Drop some CBU 99's and worthless
-
Thank you. That's good to hear.

I'm having a bit of frustration. Have been learning the F-18C module after spending a good amount of time learning the F-16 to a T. I have to say they both have their redeeming qualities, but I have to say the Air to Ground munitions in the F-16, for me, have always just worked and were pretty intuitive. My frustration is I have tried the F-18 cluster bomb tutorial. Even with setting the HT to 1500 feet the canister pops open almost as soon as I drop it. That was with a RockEye. Then I go into the mission editor and set up a quick flight with both CBU 99's and Rockeye's and the options to even set the 1500 altitude setting is missing. All I see is a MFUZ setting of Pri or Opt. Opt will seem to wait a little longer before it pops but regardless of what I do I can't hit a target to save my life where I can turn around and load the plane up with MK-82's and hit a solider in his head. I've looked at youtube videos and depending on when the video was made and the patch level they have options I don't have. I have included a TRACK file to show myself flying at around 8000 feet and dropping multiple Rockeye's. When I set it to OPT, again, it waited longer before it popped but there is still 0 accuracy. f18 rockeye problem.trk

Fixed it. I did a file repair on the massive several hundred GB install and it had to download 2.9GB of data and it's happy again. Strange.

I just bought the F-4 module and installed the latest updates. Today I fired up the game and noticed the menu music was no longer playing. I checked all the audio settings in the game as well as the machine and everything is set properly. I even played another game and the audio was flawless. If I play the F-4 module all sound appears to work. Inside and outside of the aircraft. However if I jump into any fourth gen Fighter the only audio I hear is the engine inside the cockpit. No external sounds. No weapon sounds. I jumped into the P-51. No sound at all inside or outside. It seems like when I upgraded with the big patch and the F-4 download it's broken most of the games audio outside of the F-4 itself. For fun I downloaded the latest audio drivers for my Alienware and that didn't help.

I hit the REARM button and looked around and I must be blind because I didn't see any mention of either.

Ok I've been googling and checking the docs but for the life of me I can't get the night vision to work in the F-16. I hit the default binding of R Shift + H and nadda. The HCMS is working just fine. I didn't see anything obvious when re-arming. Can someone help me figure out what I'm missing here?

All I know is that I can easily reproduce the black flashing by flying my F-16 with a TGP. Set it to white hot mode. Then just start looking around with my Track IR. It's very consistent in that it will start flashing and the coloring of the ground textures also seems to shift which others have reported as well. We say only a small group having the problem but I'm pretty sure the broader DCS community doesn't sign in to this forum to complain about it. Or perhaps some pilots just don't do much with Air to Ground. Who knows. I'd love to know the root cause of the problem but when 2.9 came out I left my graphic settings exactly as they were in 2.8 and did not use the new DLSS funtionality or any other new setting for that matter. At least they have reproduced it themselves at this point.
-
Yeah there are definitely a number of us. I'm also having an issue where when using the TGP set to White Hot mode I can barely make out vehicles at all. Most of a tank, for example, practically blends in with the grass and only the engine compartment lights up. So when you're flying to a target trying to find tune or locate your mission target you pretty much have to enable Active Pause to have enough time to find anything. Very frustrating
-
Anyone else having this issue post 2.9? FLIR or TGP set to white hot and vehicles being very difficult to locate without putting the game into active pause.
-
I'm having the same problem in the F-16 with TGP: Screenshot attached. Running a RTX3080 with the exact same video settings I had pre 2.9. I have not enabled DLSS or any other form of upscaling. I'm flying practically right on top of the targets as you can see in the attachment and the only thing I can see on the tanks is the engine compartment. Heck the little soldiers next to the tank are brighter than most of the tank body. DxDiag.txt
-
I am experiencing both the black flashing as well as the very drastic color shifts. Seems like they both only happen to me when I am playing with the TGP. I flew an entire Air to Air mission (45 minutes) and didn't have a problem.
-
Not DLSS for me. I didn't bother to enable it because the 3080 I'm running has plenty of juice to push it at 60fps and faster with my 34" ultra wide. I can repro it in minutes. Put an F-16 in the mission editor armed with Mavericks and a TGP. Turn on the TGP and the Maverick camera and look around. The only thing I can't account for is the difference in our configuration. With a 3080 I have everything cranked as far as I know and may have some things set in a way that you may not experience the problem. But that is a really easy way to duplicate it. This video at 15 seconds shows a quick flicker. Someone else posted this.. In my case it flickers more and faster. I also have the drastic color shifts some of the others are describing.
-
All I have to do to repro the screen flickering black like the monitor cable is loose is jump in the F-16 in my mission editor, turn on the TGP and in my case I also had the Maverick seeker cam on. Wasn't long before looking around the cockpit with my track IR was causing the screen to flicker. I am running the exact same settings as I was pre 2.9. I did not feel the need to enable DLSS because the 3080 pushes the Sim @ 3440x1440 very well without it. DxDiag.txt

investigating Ground Units FLIR Darkness
PlaceboC6 replied to Shadow KT's topic in Improved FLIR System
I'm having the same problem in my F-16 C. When I use the Targeting Pod to try to find enemy vehicles, I have to put it in Active Pause to even have a chance at locating them and I have to be very close. For those not familiar, look at the left display I am focused on.
