I was actually thinking to do a radar simulation based on irrlicht engine some time much much later... maybe raycasts after all... if anything here would happen at all.   4. Mhh... Normally I don't have that kind of problems...The Login Name is not important at all, it only checks the passwords. But 2 things come to my mind: 1. The password input-field in the stupid & slow java-swing GUI that I built is little wacko... Make sure to confirm your input by pressing RETURN. 2. You are trying to join the radar server while already being connected to the Game Server via Lockon and have the autokick feature enabled. Other than these 2 options, I really don't know what is going wrong on your side... Try if you encounter the same problems with the default password...   6. wow... just installed it... seems to work except for the characters in the interface... If I look at all the readme's it seems like it's possible to make aircraft, vehicles and weapons... We have modelling guidelines for making these properly... high poly, performance hungry, 30 shader missiles is the last thing that LockOn needs. Quality in textures and efficient mapping is more important than small details in the mesh that no one will ever notice. We should make LockOn more slim and still more beautyful rather than the opposite... One question that has not been answered yet is if we can make our own models or if we have to replace existing ones ? Can we add new aircraft, vehicles and weapons by adding them to the meinit.xml ? What about static objects like bridges, houses or even airports ? I hope Chizh can explain a little more about it. Great step... and probably needed to make flying BS more than endless greens...
  7. Hi Tiger, There is something written in perl and php or cgi don't really know. I downloaded it once but never installed it... It seems very complicated. Maybe you can give it a try.   8. once in STT-Mode you can do it with LoGetLockedTargetInformation(), but imo modelling the radar in TWS wouldn't be precise or fair enough...   10. I wrote an email to the Eagle.ru developers asking about my problem when trying to cast the System.ComObject to an ICollecetion or IList. Or simply, how to extract readable data using the interfaces provided with MOM.lib or MOM.dll Valery Blazhnov answered me briefly, stating that they are no longer supporting the MOM.lib and will not implement it in future versions, therefore I will stop developing the Mission Editor and see what's going to change in BS... so long Zillion PS: The .dat files I am reading have nothing to do with the .dat files LockOn is using.   12. I'm really curious about that aswell... I'd love a manual Lat/Long input feature... actually that would be awesome for all flyables. Will it be possible to manually enter geographical coordinates with this KABRIS MFD Nav System ?
  13. @ markriley sorry... i didn't mean to say anything about ignorance or stupidity... I've been working on this for over a year now, and sometimes I was just puzzled about the amount of misunderstanding to what this is actually supposed to be... That's all... As BritRadarDude pointed out already, Teamspeak and actuall human Awacs, GCI or Tower Controllers are the main reason for this project... I should have mentioned that before. You can see the LockOn App open in all my screenies because mostly I'm debugging that way, and it is even possible to fly and view the Radar on another Monitor (if you have two monitors) or on another LAN computer (if you have a second machine)... For this to work you have to disable the Autokick Feature, but I guess most people would consider this to be cheating. regards Zillion

I think the reason why I keep getting asked wether it is possible to watch the radar screen and fly simultaneously or wether this is a replacement for the F10 screen is simply because people don't seem to have a clue... what the heck this thread is all about ! It's supposed to be a standalone radar screen addon for LockOn that resembles and simulates roughly what a GCI (Ground Control Intercept) or AWACS (Airborne Warning and Control System) or Tower Controller would see... After fiddling around with override OnPaint() methods and e.ClipRectangle clipping functions I have realized even though it might be possible to invent the square wheel and dig into SVG's, I might just embedd my existing flash movie into c# and let flash do the drawing... (For all non believers, yes for 2D graphics Flash is faster than 99% of all existing GDI+ source code).... That will give me time to concentrate on the mission loading / data extraction and modification instead of rendering polylines and worry about performance.... It will be finished sooner.... Add flights of 8 client planes with one click ? Have the exact same waypoints for flights and snap to realworld Navaids and Fixpoints while editing ? Edit missions online for dedicated servers... Export a Kneeboard .dds containing the flight plan including ETA. Now even sooner.... Hope you'll like it...
  16. I have integrated a menu so I can open a file chooser and load a mission... I can press another Menu and extract the mission description :) Not so far by now... but at least i have the proper interfaces to read and save... The problem is that the return value of nearly all fuctions or Interfaces is a ComObject and I don't really understand what to cast it into, to actually get the data... Any ideas welcome... Updated
  17. I have used GDI+ to draw a test Coastline and Rivers... It will need a lot of optimizing to run smooth on repaint but I think it will be possible to render all Display Layers efficiently with a little more work. It can now read Arc ungenerate Line/Areas (.dat files) and will draw them automatically... MS Visual C# 2005 Project can be downloaded here: >>Download<<
  18. I know how to read and save a mission now, it will take some time until i get it working though... Meantime I already started drawing with windows.forms... We want, a scrollable, zoomable map, with all features the ATC client provides (coastline, rivers, roads, cities, nav-aids/fixes, airways, Final Approach lines & labels, grid and integrated altitude map with height reading).... Which will be a lot for my first c# project. So any help is appreciated... I can provide the data of all geographical features in ungenerated arc lines/polygons which is basically just an ascii list of decimal lat/long... thx
  19. @ pappavis I took your advice and installed the 2005 express edition... I should start to fiddle into c#, sounds like a sharp thing to do altogether... I put together the XZ and UTM coordinate translator and it works just fine... In case you still need it, it's >>>HERE<<<

I mailed pat01 a couple of times for the source code of his mission copy utility, he is willing to send it to me, unfortunately I was really unlucky with my spam filter 2 times already... I hope he will upload it to my ftp This header really gives me headaches... If it was only a header on top and a couple of dots at the end, everything would be fine and easy... The problem starts when mission file increases above 64KB (65536 bytes). That is when the first binary bits and pieces are actually written between the XML, seperating it into pieces of ASCII between binary blocks... This continues in unregular intervals, for my mission with block length from binary start - to - binary start: 65536, 65536-512, 65536+256, 65536-2048 and something odd or similar... which is, at least for me, to much to understand by simply looking at it.... So again, since pat01 has built a tool that can merge multiple groups into one new mission file with significant file size increase, he must have figured out what this is all about... clever him.... I'm waiting to see how... zillion

And yes I think programming a dedicated server with integrated virtual nanny will cost more than ED can afford... I see your point concerning pings and crashes, but even though a dedicated server will definitly make administration, your work, more easy...
