  1. Aurelius, What do you have your SteamVR supersampling set to? Having it higher than 100% has no benefit, and the higher it goes, the more ghosting you're going to get with trees and buildings. As for the question about the corrected version. There's so much internet-rumor-based speculation being stated as fact on that, I would just plug the thing in and use it, and see how it goes. Amazon has a really good return policy if it has issues. One thing you'll want to do when you get your Reverb is to make sure the earphone attachment screws are tight. They were a little loose on mine when I got it. Ended up finding that out when I started investigating why the sound was intermittent.
  2. The Innatek is the one I bought in 2016 when I got my CV1, and its what I still use with my Reverb. It has never given me any issues.
  3. Yup. Not all PCIe USB cards are actually what is considered powered cards. There are many of them out there that are only "powered" by the PCIe bus. An actual, powered PCIe USB card will have a power socket on top of it where you plug in one of your spare, 4-pin PSU cables. Anything less, and you're only adding to the problem.
  4. Mine is from the first day they became available, and the only problem I had with it was random sound disconnects. But, at this point, I'm not even sure it was a problem with my Reverb. I think it was actually some glitch with that particular WMR update. The problem disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. There is a lot of misinformation out there about version X versus version Y, so its really hard to discern fact from fiction on these headsets. Mine has worked great since the day I got it though, and I have a dedicated PCIe USB card that is just for my HMD.
  5. Yup. This goes way back to the days when the CV1 first came out. Oculus recommended on their support forums that people start installing a dedicated PCIe USB card that plugs into your PCs power supply. I followed their suggestion, and haven't had a single HMD issue since.
  6. Oh, that guy again. I was wondering what the source was of the information about serial number 9XX versus 9XX. Now I know. There are lots of other things he has been claiming that haven't turned out to be true, so this could very well be the same.
  7. I can't answer the question right now about how to get the Beta version, because I don't remember how I did it. But, for the SteamVR super sampling, setting that to 188% gets you no increase in visual quality that I can see. Just set it to 100%. Going above that makes no noticeable improvement to visual quality (and visual quality is fantastic at 100%), but will have an ever-increasing, negative effect on performance. So, set SteamVR SS to 100%, and DCS PD to 1.0. It will look better and fly better than most of the lower-resolution HMDs.
  8. Yup. BFM is just fine in the Reverb, along with spotting ground targets.
  9. You have to learn to twist and contort your body like real fighter pilots do when they're trying to see behind them. :smilewink:
  10. The water looks fantastic in the Reverb. It has depth to it, and as I was skimming the surface of it in the Viper, I noticed that I could actually see the contrails of the C-17s flying above me, reflected off the water. :D (edit): Just remembered something about the water in VR in the Reverb. If you get at just the right angle to the sun's reflection on the water, it will cause you to instinctively put your hand up to shade your eyes. Can't get that on a pancake.
  11. I removed the nose seal on my Reverb, so I just put the headset on, peek down my nose at my monitor, and double-click on the DCS icon on the monitor like I normally would. All of the Steam stuff will load automatically as DCS is starting. WMR usually starts as soon as I plug my headset in. I don't keep it plugged in all the time. Then I usually have to peek down my nose again to minimize the SteamVR window that usually pops up right in the middle of the monitor screen. If I don't do that, the parts of the DCS screen that it covers up will be mysteriously unclickable in VR, even though they look like there is nothing in the way.
  12. I just removed the nose piece in my Reverb. That makes it easy to see all the keys when you need to. The little view of the outside world is a little distracting at first, but the VR world quickly sucks you in and you don't even notice it anymore. nessuno505, I'm sure the Rift S is great too, just want to continue dispelling the myth we all believed at one time about higher resolution headsets requiring more horsepower to run. Its all the extra CPU and GPU cycles required to up-convert and down-convert every frame for supersampling that causes most of the performance drops. With my CV1, I had to run it at 2.0 PD to get it looking good enough for me. But, because of that, I had to use the shaders mod and could only run 2X MSAA. Even with that, it still ghosted all over the place. With the Reverb, I run it at 1.0 PD, no shaders mod, and 4X MSAA. Only occasional ghosting in certain situations with that. The vast majority of the time there is no ghosting and no stutters. Once you get SteamVR and the WMR plugin set up, everything loads automatically when you start DCS, so it acts as if there is native support for it. For the OP, as has been said on these forums a lot about the comparison of the experience between VR and a monitor: Flying in VR is like flying a plane. Flying on a monitor is like watching an interactive movie about flying a plane.
  13. Not true. The Reverb is far better, performance-wise, than any of the headsets that need supersampling to help them. Reverb needs no supersampling, which is the real performance killer. How do I know? Because I actually have one, and it looks and performs far better than even my old CV1 on the same rig.
  14. You'll see an improvement in both clarity and performance with the Reverb in comparison to the Rift S. You'll be able to run Steam VR SS at 100% and DCS PD at 1.0, and still get better clarity than the Rift S at 1.4. On top of that, since you won't have to use any supersampling of any kind, you'll get better performance. Supersampling/PD, as it turns out, are FAR bigger performance killers than the number of native pixels on the HMD. I went from a CV1 which I was running at 2.0 PD, with 2X MSAA, having to use the shaders mod to get decent performance...to a Reverb, running 1.0 PD, with 4X MSAA, no shaders mod, and the difference in clarity is night and day. Performance is smooth as glass, with only a very rare instance of ghosting every once in a while. Your 1080ti should work just fine. I had one before I got the 2080ti when I had my CV1, and if it gave me better VR performance, it wasn't something I could see with my eyes.
  15. Heh. I was wondering the same thing. As someone who has a Reverb and uses it pretty much exclusively in DCS, the Reverb being used in the "comparison" is definitely hobbled. Or, it may actually be a CV1 and not just look like it is compared to the Pimax. If that truly is a Reverb, I'd like to know how badly that video maker screwed up his settings to get all that SDE and blur in there.
  16. +1. I went from a CV1 to a Reverb and got an enormous boost in both clarity and performance. Supersampling and higher pixel density settings have proven to be the real performance killers, not the native resolution of the HMD.
  17. Yup. If someone makes a TN 650 mod, that will give us a keypad. :)
  18. You should only buy something like this from HP or an authorized HP dealer. If you buy it anywhere else, you may be out of luck if you ever have to get warranty support.
  19. It changes the scale of the whole world around you, but the scale of the cockpit will be the most noticeable change since you're a lot closer to it.
  20. FOV is roughly the same. To the OP, when you go to the Reverb from a CV1, you should actually be able to turn a few things up in your graphics settings and get better performance. The main factor that allows that to happen is that with the Reverb, you can set your DCS PD to 1.0. If you keep your Steam VR SS at 100%, that will also give you more headroom for turning things up, and still get better performance than in your CV1. I have found that going above 1.0 PD in DCS, and/or going above 100% SS in Steam VR has no noticeable effect on clarity. I'm even running 4X MSAA in DCS now, with only an occasional episode of ghosting. If you had your DCS PD set to 2.0 for your CV1 like I did, when you first try the Reverb, about the only thing you'll immediately notice is the absence of SDE and godrays. Its when you try putting on that CV1 again that you'll say "Holy cow! This looks awful!". Aircraft and ground target spotting are dramatically improved, and wait until you start firing Mavericks in the A-10C with the Reverb. You'll actually be able to use the quick-draw function of those missiles without being right on top of your target. You'll be able to see all of your targets through the Maverick from a lot further away. Definitely worth the money! I hung on to my CV1 though, just because I wanted to have good, reliable access to my Oculus games. Using Revive is OK for that purpose, but its pretty buggy.
  21. I have tried a couple of different extensions for my Reverb. The 10 foot extension I tried didn't work at all. The 6 foot extension I tried sorta worked, but it wasn't reliable. Its one of the major drawbacks to this new DisplayPort stuff. I have seen DP in-line amplifiers on Amazon, but at $90.00, its not exactly something you can try just for the hell of it to see if it works.
  22. Tried it last night, and saw the same thing Lobo did. The top 1/3 of the HUD is no longer visible after doing that. With my view position set where I usually have it, I can see the whole HUD without leaning forward or hunching down. In the real thing, what does that longer screw on the left side of the HUD do? It almost seems like that might be an adjustment screw to change the angle of the glass panels in the HUD to adjust for pilot/seat height.
  23. Not true. Don't buy one based on the difference in warranty, because there is no difference now. I have a pro, and it took over a month to get just a replacement cable. When I called HP, I started by calling their consumer division, and they were actually immediately ready to send me a replacement. When they ran the serial number, they found out it was the pro version, and transferred me to the commercial division. The rep at the commercial division agreed to send me a replacement cable after we did troubleshooting via phone and e-mail. He placed the order for the cable on 8-19-19, and I finally received it on 9-30-19. Also, the "3 year warranty" for the Pro isn't true. That is what it said for my serial number on their site for a little while, then it suddenly changed to 1 year, which was before I had actually made any service request. When I was getting the serial number from the ID plate on the HMD for the HP rep, it has "1 year warranty" clearly printed on the ID plate. HP has not requested that I send the old part back to them, probably because the logistics of doing so isn't worth it. My replacement cable was shipped to Denver, CO from Zellik, Belgium. No "version 2" cable with a clip, just the same old cable, which is brand new and took 6 weeks to get here. Beware of the claims of posters on Reddit. HP has no legal obligation to honor the promises he is making people. Its still a great headset though, and the Pro is only 50 bucks more. That is roughly the cost of the extra items/materials that come with the Pro, so it makes no sense at all that anybody would get better warranty coverage.
  24. You can save the position once you find it. Then it will return to the one you manually selected when you recenter. You just have to physically be in the same position you were in when you start the sim. Have a look at this old post of mine. The key combo to save the position is at the bottom. You can do this same procedure with all the aircraft modules you own, and they will all start up with you sitting in the position you saved. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3620449&postcount=19
