  1. Ah, I thought the 350 knots was just a minimum. Thanks for the other pointers, I’ll give them a try and see if they work out.
  2. This mission is really doing my head in. I've got the concepts down from the videos and explanations above and used the TACAN for the Pilot Visual Landing mission successfully. I'm pretty sure I'm turning at the correct distances from the TACAN, and adjusting the course as specified, but there's nothing showing up on the F10 map. There's also no indication that I've hit the waypoint from the voiceover, just warnings that I'm departing for the flight corridor. I've also reached 13.5 nautical miles before I've even intercepted the 089° radial, so I'm then changing it to 166° for the third waypoint and by that point I don't know what the hell I'm doing Here's my latest run through: It's all a bit demoralising after many tries, especially after being so excited to learn this bird. I thought I would've moved past this by now. Can someone help? Maybe the training missions need those green squares like the TF51 training as a bit of hand holding for noobs like me?
  3. Any update, ED?
  4. Hiya HB, I'm just wondering if you'd consider making the hitboxes(?) for the cockpit switches bigger? Sometimes it can get a bit fiddly trying to turn something on when the head tracking keeps moving. At the moment, it seems to be located exactly on the switches, but I feel like the radius could be bigger without affecting the surrounding switches. What do you think? Cheers, Tim
  5. Is there a plan to animate the buttons etc on the throttle and stick? Coming from the F-4 it feels a bit weird that nothing moves on them. I was hoping that this latest update would have them, so I was a bit disappointed.
  6. The throttle's fantastic. So many buttons compared to the TM Warthog I sent back. Paired it with the 15E throttle grips, but probably should have got the EX, as the extra returning scroll wheels would have come in handy for view zoom.
  7. Ah, I was hoping basic free flight / cold start / takeoff / landing would be added for the instant action on the Afghanistan map in this update. Maybe next release?
  8. I've had a different experience. Everything went smoothly for my Warthog HOTAS purchase, plus the finger lift kit later (ridiculously overpriced, but hey ho). I've posted questions via their instagram account and they've been clear and concise and the English is good. Maybe try again? You might get a different employee responding. My only gripe is that for a premium product, the packaging is terrible (albeit functional), but maybe Apple's ruined me!
  9. Ah, interesting insight. Sounds like that might be the issue then. I'll have to follow the checklists a bit closer next time! It was just a short flight, so no ordnance or external fuel tanks.
  10. Hi Zabuzard, no, it was an instant action cold start. There was stress damage in the inner and outer wings, immediately after the compressor stalls, but I thought it might be related to the CSs somehow. I did pull a hard 180 after takeoff, but it wasn't for long and there were no warning tones. If it was the Gs that caused the issue, I'm a bit surprised. I thought the F-4 was a bit more robust than that! Also worth noting, all events happened immediately and there were no fire warnings or panel lights on previously.
  11. I was in straight and level flight using AFCS, ten minutes in and I was suddenly surrounded by flames and had to eject. Debrief said the following, amongst other failures: First Issue: Compressor Stall L+R Stress Damage in Wing / Wing Inners + Outers Hit Damage Wing Inner Flaps, slats etc etc Mechanical Failure in Actuators Then a bunch of other hit damage, I'm assuming from broken parts flying about and finally fuel leak and KABOOM. Any idea on how to understand went wrong? I don't know if I missed something in cold start that I should have turned on or something. I'm pretty sure I didn't get hit, as the airspace was clear, with nothing from the RWR or Jester regarding threats. Unless it was just a farmer with a gun! Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
  12. Just something for the wish list. Is there a plan to make a dark mode for the F-14 manual, like the F-4 documentation?
  13. @Hikaruncat Ah, thanks. Somehow I missed that in the forum search. @Zabuzard Yes, it was a cold start, so what you mentioned makes sense, as the Jester wheel was open during replay. I'm guessing this is pretty far down the list for fixing?
  14. Hi there, I've just had a flight in which I definitely removed the chocks and watch Jester close his canopy, but during the replay the chocks are still in place as I'm taxiing and jester 's canopy is still open. The result being that the canopy get blown off after takeoff and the gear is damaged and won't close properly. Due to the lack of pressure, the plane is also shaking all over the place, things that definitely didn't happen in flight. Anyone else with this issue? Latest version btw.
  15. It's the first plane I bought for DCS and I absolutely love it. Although I still have to learn combat, just starting her up and cruising around these incredible maps is a fantastic experience in itself. The attention to detail is incredible, and although the ergonomics are for crap, most of what you need is within reach in-flight. It has a feel you just don't get with the F-16 or F-14, which I bought in the recent sale (Although these are great too!).
  16. Hey Joe, yes I know, that’s what I’m currently doing, and have several bookmarked, but as I mentioned, it interrupts the flow of learning. It would just be nice to have everything in one place and be as easy as possible for us MILAV noobs to learn. A quick tooltip with small summary could save a lot of time in the long run.
  17. I was really looking forward to having a blast around in my new jets, but there isn't any free flights or cold / hot starts etc for the F-4E and F-14 in the map. Are you planning on adding those at some point? Many thanks, Tim
  18. Oh that’s weird, definitely not in mine. I’ve not had any update emails or notifications either. Has there been an update since release that I’ve missed somehow? Just seen the update thread. I’ll give that a try when I get home. UPDATE: I installed the update through the DCS updater and the dark mode option is there now. Might be worth sending out an email about updates in future to customers so they don't miss it.
  19. Thanks for the reply Zabuzard. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a 'HB UI Theme: Dark' option in the Special menu. Just a UI Resolution Override and UI Offset. Another thing I've thought of whilst looking at it, is the size of the manual onscreen. It would be great if we could choose a percentage scale so it doesn't block a quarter of the cockpit. Also, maybe a Left/Centre/Right option for positioning too. Yes, I saw the abbreviations menu, which is great, but there's no summaries and no links to the relevant page for a further explanation and context. It interrupts the learning flow quite a bit. But regardless, it's an outstanding plane and a great module! I also bought the F-14 off the back of it and I'm equally blown away. I also have to learn that as well at some point! All the best, Tim
  20. This looks like a great plugin for DCS. A lot of improvements on the standard sounds and effects: https://www.rkapps.shop/products/dcrealistic (Not sure if this is the right forum for this, but there we go.) Moved
  21. Hi HB, I'm new to DCS (and military aviation in general) and the F-4 is my first purchase, so there's a lot of learning I need to do. Basically, a lot of the acronyms are unfamiliar to me and I think tooltips in the manual, with a small summary over all acronyms, (or maybe a link to the relevant page as well) would speed up the learning process. It will save having to go out of the page and hunt down the meaning. Also a dark mode would be a great option for the inflight manual. Hopefully you guys will consider it! All the best, Tim
  22. Started off with a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas stick from eBay in March and realised within a month that I was all in. I upgraded to the Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle and Stick – great stick, but too much stiction, so that was returned and I'm currently on the Winwing Orion 2 HOTAS, with Thrustmaster rudders. I may have to upgrade the rudders as they're entry level and not very smooth. Got a feeling this hobby is going to end up costing me a lot!
  23. Thanks Sirrah, that's really helpful info. Definitely going to give the Syria map a trial first!
  24. Hi Everyone, I'm about a month into DCS and snagged the F-4E during the prelaunch. I was so impressed by Heatblur's work that I'm thinking of buying the F-14 and a terrain and maybe the Super Carrier during the sale. My question is; which terrain would give me the biggest bang for my buck for both the F-4 and F-15? I'm torn between Sinai or the Persian Gulf, but maybe the full Afghanistan map I have on preorder will keep me busy for both? Also, I'm not too sure how the Super Carrier works. Is it only relevant for multiplayer? Does it come with missions, or do you have to buy those separately? I've also noticed that the third party Carrier campaigns mainly have the FA-18 as a requirement. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tim
  25. First off, I absolutely love this plane, it's phenomenal piece of work from your team. A small thing though. What about an option to hide the seatbelts sitting on the seat? They look great, but it feels a bit weird flying about with them just sitting there. I'd also love an option with just legs visible, as the arms get in the way and I sometimes sink behind the pilot model and can't see.
